Been kinda curious lately,

What has been a bigger struggle when it comes to porting 7DTD to console, different API's, software etc, or lower processing resources available on console that keep it from running smoothly?

Or is it just a general mix of both?

How many POI's would the devs working on the new console version have to build in order for the console version to be in sync with the PC version in terms of POI's.

Here is a video from MarMole about the process.  It is 7 years old, so some parts are not relevant (like the part with TellTale and Iron Galaxy) but it contains other useful info.  Basically, Sony and Microsoft have their own set of rules and standards that provide an additional barrier to providing a console update.  On Steam, they can just push a new build, bugs and all.  But when releasing to console, the quality/reliability bar set by MS and Sony is much higher.

Zero. They don't update the old console game, they port the current PC version over.
So the new 7DTD console version already has all the POI's that PC has already If I'm understanding this correctly, because I thought they had to build every POI from scratch on the new console version that PC already had.

The new console version will be 1:1 with the PC version. It is a full new port of the current (a22) version of the game. It will be updated right alongside the PC version and contains the same content as the PC version because it was ported over.  They don't have to build it all from scratch.

Replace the model of the chicken from PC version with a model of a duck for console version. Imagine the talks between players when seen or hunted in cross-platform MP.

I hope they change that horrible gyrocopter and make a passenger one, for example a Bell 206, or another model but not the gyrocopter. I remember that in alpha 20 I made a helicopter and several vehicles for my server but I was never able to publish it since in 21 they destroyed my mod like some modders.

I only have an image of the alpha 18 🥲

Less RAM has been the biggest issue, especially on XBox Series S. We have reduced memory usage of many different systems. Art is now getting optimization attention to use less memory.

This time around, the console version is sharing the same project files as PC/Mac/Linux, so it is all the same, except for occasional checks in code for required differences. A good example is file system access. PS5 and XBox each have different systems and rules to read/write files than PC/Mac/Linux.

The gyrocopter has a new model with a passenger seat that I will be replacing the old model with, when I get to it. It will still fly the same, as it is a gryocopter, not helicopter. If we add a helicopter some day, that would fly like a helicopter.

Maybe i sounded too... hard but it's caused by my bad experiences about shoes and such shoes espectialy.

Well, you'll only be wearing them digitally and there is no "stubbed toe" debuff so I think you'll be safe both physically and digitally while wearing the in-game flip flops and this is from someone who tore a toenail off while riding a bike while wearing flipflops. I'll never do THAT again but I feel pretty safe playing a game about wearing flip flops.

Of course, I never tried wearing them while walking up the nearby mountain to check the pole that tells the weather either.... ;)

A few criticisms that were surely received haha, no offense. Are they so limited? In basic models they are even aberrant compared to other games, just as the 3D lods are a disaster in everything that is overloaded. They cover windows in buildings so that they cannot be seen in the background! oh really? alpha22? Are they still like this? There was a mod like that. That's fine, but another thing is that old alpha trees consume a lot of video. Modders do magic on models with their game. These are the only trees. "treeFirLrg01, treeMountainPine31m." and I believe some more, the map of them can be overloaded and it does not take away as many fps as the others...!

now I see my gyro... in alpha 22. hahahahaha remove.xml

Hello, @faatal! Will we ever get new physics and new sounds for transport? The new models look much better, but it will be unpleasant to see the old physics and old sounds. And is there a chance that A22 will have a new UI, or is it worth waiting in A23?

The majority of this seems to be art with some POIs, and I'm all here for it. I'm very happy to see an updated model for the piggy, hopefully it decides to get added back in. The armor rework is something I'm skeptical on, I'd like the standard armor to remain in the game, while the sets are something that you slowly obtain over time. It would be a shame to have 1 piece of this set, another piece from a different set, then 2 pieces from a completely different set, it adds up overtime and just becomes a clutter and a mess. Overall, very happy with what I'm seeing so far!

Yeah, I think the new store is good but it isn't like there are a lot of choices, making you will constantly be finding the same armor pieces over and over again.  That doesn't sound good to me.  Leaving the current stuff in game and having these sets over bonuses that make having the complete set be worth something sounds better to me.  You would find normal stuff regularly and the set about pieces would be uncommon and take time to complete.

But that isn't what they seem to be planning.  So we will see.  As someone mentioned, clothing stores will become places where you get nothing but tons of cloth and many copies of the same limited numbers of armor sets.  I like the look of the new armor but there just isn't enough variety to make it make sense to remove the current cutting and armor.

Another issue is the loss of things with unique functions like looting goggles or the suit. In fact with no clothes and therefore no suit? How does that Dirty Harry perk book work at all?

I mean, I think losing the ability to play pretty princess character Barbie makes the game more boring even without functional losses, and goes against the good and correct industry trend towards more player character customization, not less. But now we have these weird functional questions on top where some @%$# is going to break unless we're getting some kind of replacement or the related stuff is also getting reworked.

Books that would no longer apply under the new outfit system would be changed, much how books and even perks were changed under the new crafting system for A21.

Yeah, books and perks just change to something else.  That isn't really a problem.  It is the other things, including lack of character customization that is not so good.  As I said, I like the new armor sets.  They look great.  But if that is all we get?  That is depressing.
