A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

Please, one question:
Will there be different named "presets" available that we can easily pick from instead of trying every single option by itself?

I'm thinking something like:
  • "True Survival settings"
  • "Casual Player settings"
  • "Worse than Nightmare setting"
  • "Builder Delight settings"
and so on...
I believe they talked about having presets as well as allowing you to save your own presets.

Yes. There will be presets with different themes and difficulties.

You mean that @faatal has not posted in weeks, because he did log in "today at 11:14am". He visits often but I guess he just can't reply to anything.
You can click on someone's avatar to know when that person last visited the forums.
Do you when he sleeps too lmao?

The merger is happening in parallel with shipping out V3.0. So far nothing has blocked or delayed us in that regard.

As far as content goes, the Sandbox Options aren't "just options". They are whole gameplay experiences.
You can tailor your game in so many different ways now that it feels like a whole new game.

There are more features coming to V3.0, but you'll have to be patient for any posts here and/or on socials.
News will happen when all of us feel it is ready.

Faatal and the rest of us are all busy smashing bugs and polishing the shiny bits.
Is there a way to save your settings that you choose and name it. And make your own preset

I just need a taste of this update!!!! Just a taste

Not only can you make presets of your own. You can share it with other players and even use them on your dedicated server.

Here are two real questions. I know that TFP sanctioned some youtoos
in the past. TFP/BI Did you recently sanction the sale of any of your
detailed models, in the game, or extreme likenesses of physical entities
in your game? With a reference to an entity in the 7 days to die game.

2 In the past a DMCA was issued to TFP for a model, So if a model is being
sold now as a file format that could be used as a replication of one of the
game's Assets wouldn't that follow the same infringement?

Conclusion; referencing one of my prior posts apr 30; that is the reason I asked
wouldn't the development of 7 days to die need to change it's file formatting,
if it also were going to attempt changing the game format, to a more closed loop
controlled entity.

So whom would be responsible for the above situation, now, meaning which entity?

Amazing!!! Thank you prisma!

I'm just wondering if there's a dedicated person working on game balance? I mean, I don't really know whose fault it is. The team is large and everyone is doing their own thing, but some of the "interesting" new features are, to put it mildly, not exactly balanced.

The most recent highlight is the dew collector. I really hope it gets fixed in 3.0. But there's no information about it, so I can only hope for the best.

To summarize the problem. The collector and its speed and quantity modifications are ABSOLUTELY useless, and their use is completely unjustified. It only makes sense when there's a filter. Without one, you just take empty jars and fill them in any puddle. But these are still recipes that the player has to spend game time on to unlock them.

Okay, let's say there's a community that's been asking for empty jars to be brought back. It's not such a bad idea. Especially since it's customizable and can be disabled (in terms of returning). It's not entirely clear why the food itself is being brought back, but that's beside the point.

Well, why kill something that was added previously and worked correctly in terms of balance? I mean, as far as I can see, the guys sat down and came up with this:

- Let's bring back the cans
- Yeah, that's a cool idea. Let's bring them back

But it seems like it's forgotten that this basically kills an entire mechanic. So, the question is, who can I write to about such things? And is this a general approach to adding other content? I always used to think there was a specific person or focus group who understood the intricacies of game balance and prevented such things. But now I'm not so sure.

It isn't really killed. If a player decides to change the options for glass jars then the collector would be usefull again. Whether it is unlocked on the way to other recipes like the chem station doesn't matter, you still need the chem station, and the number of magazines to the last unlock hasn't changed at all

Even so, the two methods to get jars filled with water are almost equivalent. If you are more into comfort than speed then you can save a few clicks of filling empty bottles in a river, since this means you have to put every stack into the toolbelt first.

There was already discussion and threads about the uselessness of the collector at default and suggestions what to change were discussed as well.
AFAIK the developers get informed about discussed topics, so they probably have noticed. But if you want to do more, a personal message to one of the testers or developers active on the forum might help. Keep it short or they probably won't read it.

Well, I don't quite understand what "not killed" means? After all, the player will make 50 empty jars, fill them all with muddy water from a puddle, and boil them. A collector without a filter essentially does the same thing, only over a longer period of time. What I'm saying is that installing a collector and all its mods completely loses the point until the player has a filter. Doesn't that completely destroy the entire mechanic that existed before?

It does. But it also restores a function that was destroyed for the dew collector before; working lakes and water sources. Dunno how aware you're of the history, but that was a massive sore point in the community until TFP went "eff it" and brought "lake harvesting" back.. breaking the logic of the Dew Collector.

I prefer it this way, but the Dew Collector is indeed pointless at this time ... with working lakes, it kinda always will be.

It looks like a big funnel on top of a huge plastic barrel. Maybe instead of having to put jars in it, when it fills you can use it to fill a stack of jars in your toolbelt. Like when you go to a water source.
Not sure if it could be done so it has a set amount of water. For instance if it was full then you could do x number of stacks (as it is a fair size barrel)

In my opinion they should simply make the Dew Collector give directly PLAIN water, and when you add the Water Filter they should have it produce MINERAL water. This way it'll be well worth it for someone to install a dew collector after a while. :sneaky:

It wasn’t forgotten. There were internal discussions about it and your perspective was definitely brought up—all before even the experimental release. More discussions came up after experimental but before stable.

In the end, the decision makers chose to have it be this way fully aware of the disagreements you proposed.

The dew collector is now an alternate method of getting water that is less efficient than just filling and boiling jars yourself until you can add the filter and then it is about equal. So just fill and boil which is what I do. Once I can get the filter I craft a few collector and add all the upgrades and use it together with filling and boiling.

Maybe if the tears you and I are crying were as hot as the tears of those who wanted jars back and then wanted a way to use up all of their extra jars it might be possible but they are just no where close.

Water is a non issue... It is definitely easier with jars than it was without. I prefer dew collectors (once fully modified) because it feels like one less step. In actuality I have replaced boiling water with making jars.

I love the game and look forward to its continual evolution. I hope for a day where the story matters and there are more things to do that help shape the world.

My wish List:
  • Trader Influence and Standing - Doing jobs for the traders builds your standing with them. After say 5 missions a new dialog option appears - "Did you set aside anything special for me?" This would reveal a higher tier of items specific to the trader; Rekt would have more seeds or food, Jen for more medical supplies or maybe she could apply a cast or splint with a rteduced healing time, Bob more vehivcle mods or schematics, etc. This would give players the incentive to actually do jobs for the individual traders.
  • Different Job Types - This has the opportunity to add to the story of the world. Maybe saving a family of survivors turns into them setting up a trading post or you learn the location of a undescovered POI. I just want the missions to have a reason and a story or actually impact the world.
  • Ability to Salvage Unavailable Items - If I want a prison door for my base I should be able to go to the Navezgane Corrections and "harvest" a cell door if I have the right tool and skills.
