A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

View attachment 38809
Survivors,

We’re excited to share some big news. The Fun Pimps have officially joined Behaviour Interactive.

7 Days to Die started back in Thanksgiving 2012, when two brothers cooked up a game idea at the dinner table. Thirteen years later, that idea has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined, with over 20 million copies sold and a community that’s been with us every step of the way.

There is still so much we want to do, and we’ve always believed the future of our game could be even greater than what we’ve shipped so far. This partnership means more support for 7 Days to Die moving forward. We’ll continue to lead development, just as we always have, but now, with Behaviour’s help, we’ll be able to grow the team and deliver even more for the game and our community.

Nothing about the heart of the game is changing. Our vision stays the same, our team stays the same, and our focus remains on the community that has carried 7 Days to Die for over a decade. This is simply the next step in a long journey, and we’re excited to take it with you.

More details are coming soon, including a Reddit AMA on 3/25/26. Feel free to submit your questions ahead of time at r/7daystodie and we’ll answer them live during the session.

In the meantime, check out this message from Richard about the new partnership:

Big congratulations to you. Looking forward to seeing what kind of changes will happen in the future regarding projects, with the 7day to die game. New ideas are always welcome.

As a modder, I can't help but read this with a great deal of dread.

The DBD developers are not exactly what you would call modder-friendly. No mods with EAC disabled, no mods with new textures or models, etc. The only mods they allow are icon modifications. I realize that DBD is a PvP game, so mods might give advantages, but they also ban mods that don't.

And, if they really did buy TFP, then they now own the copyrights to all modders' (and YouTubers') works, whether those works incorporate 7D2D assets or not - at least when used in connection with 7D2D. I was already squeamish about this when TFP owned those rights, but now they're owned by a company I'm not familiar with, and whose flagship game is known to ban all but the most trivial of mods.

I'm sure Behavior Interactive is not going to start banning 7D2D mods... for at least a year or two. Who knows if they'll change their minds by the time 7D2D goes gold. Companies change, and TFP haven't had the best luck with companies owning their IP.

Hopefully my suspicion is unwarranted. We won't really know for sure unless the EULA is changed again.

are you saying that TFP actually negotiated protections? because the difference seems to be that with Telltale...TFP only sold the console rights...this time they sold the whole ■■■■ company.

They already said both the leadership and dev team remains in place for 7d2d, so that should answer both your questions.

So the owner cashed out ? Did milking the stupid users work out ? Someone has to DLC the ■■■■ out of the game now?

Sure sure.... you ever saw any takeover ? Soon there will be people leaving. Either "volunteer" because they don't like the decisions or because they are not working enough. How many people are in TFP ? 60 ? 70? What they are doing all day long for the little things we get?

I started playing your game this year.
The game is great, the creative mode let me try everything without having to collect a lot of items or wait around for long.

Now I'm trying a normal game without creative mode, and it's really great and easy to play.
I'm excited to see what your collaboration brings, and I'm looking forward to further updates, especially version 3.0 with all the new settings.

Since I'm playing on PlayStation 5, I unfortunately can't test it beforehand and can only wait 😂.

Milking? MILKING? ... HOW?
Is there a recurring fee I'm not aware of?

I paid like 20 bucks 12 years ago and never paid ever again for crying out loud!
The game has been playable since the beginning.

I even chose to buy their skin DLCs just to support them a bit because I like what they're doing with the game.
Go back under your bridge ugly troll! 🧐

13 YEARS OF EATING TRASH WITH THIS GAME AND SOME ADDICTS HIGH ON THIS AWFUL GAME have Stockholm syndrome and are ready to accept the god belt of this crappy game, which has had nothing interesting for a long time.
Hmm. I wonder who's worse...someone that voluntarily invests their time and energy into something they like, or someone that VOLUNTARILY invests their time and energy into something they consider trash and uninteresting?

And for the person that voluntarily invests their time into something they don't like, should they be one to talk about other people's intelligence and psychological state?

I wonder.

i did a quick Google search and the studio is Canadian... almost worst.... jk
Hey! Don't make fun of Canadians; I'm one too.
Turns out that the Behaviour Interactive headquarters is near where I live actually as I am very close to Montreal, QC. Maybe I'll go there someday and see Rick and Joel visiting and ask them: What the hell were you thinking? Kidding of course... I wish them luck and hope things turn out for the better.

Just curious when they do the Reddit AMA questions today will this be streaming on twitch or youtube live? Or is this just a text based session?

I'm nervous and excited. Ironically enough, I literally really only main two games. 7 days & DBD. Like literally, those are the ones I play 90% of the time and have about 3K hours in each.

We will have to wait and see, but I could see this being a good thing with better resources and faster development coming. However, I could also see this becoming a DLC nightmare. Clothes/armor and weapons should not be DLC in this game. DLC should be like cheap $2 or $3 kick-■■■ maps or something like that.

Really, I think it's been forgotten that this really just needs to be Minecraft, Walking Dead, & Fallout mashed into something badass.

I know it's too late and this is old news, but the armor system and kind of clothes system are complete ■■■. The deco parts of apocalypse living haven't been expanded beyond more block shapes. Farming is a bust (no husbandry, fishing, etc.). Magazines are dumb as hell.

Honestly like what happened. I spent years just playing this game. I would be at work all day playing to pass time. It was magical and exciting as things came out. I really hope we can get the best hyperrealistic Minecraft back and fine whatever sell me DLC, but at least make it something not dumb as hell, like a costume that doesn't do anything but make me look stupid. Haha, good luck, everyone.

Also, here are my predictions, not AI-like everyone else lol. Faatal will be promoted, and Roland will be fired. Why is Roland getting the can? He's always like a troll on these forums, and behavior is too corporate for him. Seen this a million times in the regular working world.

GG

7 Days to Die is a goldmine when it comes to DLC that could be added. The game is 12 years old and honestly doesn’t have many of them. There’s so much that could be added character customization, beards, different hairstyles, weapon skins, armor skins there’s a ton of it. I personally don’t mind if I like something, I’ll buy it anyway. But I hope it won’t be excessive and won’t interfere with the base version of the game, and that I won’t have to pay for something like a pack of new zombies.
