A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

This might have some value to it if I haven't been promised bandits in the next alpha since a16

The kickstarter said I could play against bandits lol

Maybe you should take a trip down memory lane.
There have been many alphas where bandits were not promised. In any event, we cannot change the past. All I can say is we are working on them right now and working through the many issues that are coming up as we try to make them not zombies. The cover system is going to be cool, but it is not simple to develop.

lol...you complain about TFP designing their game for only a max of 8 players and wish that it more robustly supported PVP with higher player counts and yet it's music to your ears that they were acquired by a studio whose flagship PvP title is designed for up to 5 players and is 1v4 gameplay....

Why does this make you excited?
staying optimistic about it..
10+ years and pvp not ever being supported for 7d2d is in the past now.
cant wait to hear from the new team!

I love how both of the AI brains (GM&HD) give their opinions, while their brain cells escape to avoid the humiliation.

Of course we have our brains and we use them, I think this coop between bE and TFP will be in the proper direction.

Still on "In the Pimps we trust" side of party here.

This announcement gives me some major pause. But I’ll try and stay optimistic, time will tell how this plays out. But 7dtd is my favorite and most played game. I want to see it reach its full potential(bandits, story mode, etc). But nowadays the internet hive mind speaks ■■■■ into existence. Like the death of a game. I don’t want to see it die or become unrecognizable because of change in leadership.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be; and for example what faatal is implying there, a trust for the cover -AI to become a thing, gives me hope.
But "Acquired" means there's a new boss. At face value it means that TFP is only calling the shots exactly as far as the new owner allows. Which might be exactly as now, or .. something entirely different.

@faatal Your just mentioning the cover system, made me think of something
that I have seen, in a non-fps game and situation. The game is Peggle Nights
deluxe, and we use to do it as a gag on, private pages.

It was an avoid mouse script. If it were something like that was 20' less than player
field of view 10' on each side. Then as long as they could see the player, you could
never lock on target. Because they would either move away or duck out of sight and
only pop up to snipe the player.

I know it isn't practical, but it would be funny and infuriating to see.

Wasn't TellTale only affecting the console side of the house? This new collaboration is impacting the whole house.
well...in that example TFP only sold the rights to console...this time they appear to have been acquired by another company.

ps...a collaboration implies a different relationship.

they might have hopes for how things are going to go...but, they are not their own entity anymore, they are a subsidiary.

As a modder, I can't help but read this with a great deal of dread.

The DBD developers are not exactly what you would call modder-friendly. No mods with EAC disabled, no mods with new textures or models, etc. The only mods they allow are icon modifications. I realize that DBD is a PvP game, so mods might give advantages, but they also ban mods that don't.

And, if they really did buy TFP, then they now own the copyrights to all modders' (and YouTubers') works, whether those works incorporate 7D2D assets or not - at least when used in connection with 7D2D. I was already squeamish about this when TFP owned those rights, but now they're owned by a company I'm not familiar with, and whose flagship game is known to ban all but the most trivial of mods.

I'm sure Behavior Interactive is not going to start banning 7D2D mods... for at least a year or two. Who knows if they'll change their minds by the time 7D2D goes gold. Companies change, and TFP haven't had the best luck with companies owning their IP.

Hopefully my suspicion is unwarranted. We won't really know for sure unless the EULA is changed again.

Telltale had the console version developed and sold it. We are now a part of Behavior, so it is different.

Dodging is planned and some anims have already been made for it.

Well, It's been real. Now that this is an ultra corpo owned entity, you can kiss "The Fun Pimps" goodbye. The name is corpo poison. Can you just do us all a favor and not break the game in some drastic way before you decide to never touch it again. I'll take it exactly like it is. Really, modders can handle the bandits and such.

Is there any example of a developer/publisher that took advantage of a EULA, which states they own the rights to mods, in a nefarious way?

If TFP / Behavior were to act on the EULA in a way that you might be fearing then that would be a horrible PR move.

Also look at the Resident Evil / RE Engine modding community. Capcom does not support nor endorse modding, yet they haven't done anything to crack down on it.

I think mods will be fine.

As for this acquisition...to be honest, it doesn't leave me with a good feeling. As a horror fan...I don't like DBD. As a gamer, from a technical and aesthetic perspective...I don't like DBD. It looks bad and it's buggy.

Here's the thing though...I don't know enough about Behaviour as a publisher and all their other capabilities outside of DBD. So based solely on what I know of DBD, this acquisition doesn't give me much confidence.

BUT...I will step back and see what happens...because like I said...I don't overall know enough.

I don't know what new team you are expecting, but PVP support will be as it was before.
i would have to disagree with you on this, if only 1 person from their team supports pvp would mean thats one more than that we have now.
And yeah since they make pvp games im willing to wager there is at least one person over there who supports pvp.

are you saying that TFP actually negotiated protections? because the difference seems to be that with Telltale...TFP only sold the console rights...this time they sold the whole ■■■■ company.
