V2.5 Survival Revival Dev Diary

My first Red-moon 2.5.
I set my base up for the attack. I had what I thought was a thin but solid defense. A single layer of cobblestoned wall fully enclosed. With a stairwell leading up surrounded by wood spikes. Which was more like blocks that you would need to jump on. I figured that I would funnel them up into my Killzone.
But they didn't try to jump up. No they went around. to the sides and back of my base. I didn't know why but they attacked the walls. I shot them but they kept at it. The only thing that saved me from being over run was that I kept the doors on the upper level of my base closed. Causing me to have to move to my fallback position. Which I thought that I would never have to use.
After some hard fighting, I found out what had happened.
While I did have a single layer, I was using wood frames for most of the floor. Also the zombies can crawl though a 1x1x1 opening Vs. 1x2x1x for people. Something I forgot about. But the other thing is that it seems that the game seems to measure Voxels in and around the base to look for weak points and then attack.
I am on to you Fun pimps and your Sneaky ways! 😁

Still killing with shovels I see, Sillls :)
Thanks. 😁

I am the one who came up with the idea of shovel spears. Long before spears were in the game. :)
In case anyone was wondering, the Camara button is `~ key. Located just below the Esc key. Which will allow you to toggle the camara.
It would be great if someone would put this in the update. So everyone could find it.

I don't understand... sometimes I can keep playing 2.5 for hours on end, and sometimes I CTD after 15 minutes!
I think it's my computer, or Windows, or the graphics card, or... whatever. 😶

In the nursing home POI, I would block the first doorway you come across, after you go through the underground pipe, with a hatch. I'd be fighting a bunch of zombies and then all of a sudden one of them would hit me from behind (pause). It turned out the zombies would glitch into the floor and pop back up in the room behind me.

Here's another glitch I've been coming across. A couple of POIs, so far, start to collapse once I activate the quest.
I reported it.

When you report a bug, you should disable any and all mods, make a full wipe and then and only then try out that exact area in vanilla so you can prove without a shadow of a doubt that the bug does indeed happen in the main game and is not polluted by anything else, like old map data, etc.

It sounds like hate speech trying to discard you as a human being, but you are actually wasting the devs' time for an issue that might or might not be there.

That said, Zds clipping and moving under the floor like that rad zd do happen sometimes, and there's no easy fix for that, so Bethesda used to just delete the entity once the manager detected floor-axis clipping and respawn it above ground in the most accurate vertical spot it could find. It also seems stuck in the animation, so that might also be a multidepartment issue right there. Again, Might be mods and entity editing. I did found the floor clipping one but with animations intact, and it was not that rare is specific POI with narrow spaces and many zds.

I'm sure @faatal will fix it (lol, the nerve).

Have a nice day and a Happy New Year if it's not too late!

A red moon! AHH! lol

Has anyone done a mission that started and failed you right on the start?
That happened to me yesterday doing a dig. I took a mission from her but didn't' start it right away. It may have been an hour latter, not sure.
I went to the location indicated, got ready and clicked on the flag. It started and immediately told me that I failed with Mission failed message. No idea why.
I have done many missions and even failed a few. Some by getting too far away from the digging location after start. But this is a first.
As I moved away, I remembered to pullup a log.
Level 2 dig. I have not had the chance to see if other dig missions would fail after this. As none have listed in the time that I have played since this issue.
Also, I don't use mods and playing Alpha 2.5.

I've seen a couple others who had that happen on buried supplies quests. I normally don't do those, so can't say if it affects me in my game.

I would leave that for the devs to decide. I don't see how basic zombie and audio mods, that I've been using since 1.0, all of a sudden cause the ground to collapse. And there's the log file, that I'm sure they know how to read to determine whether the issue is something worth their time hunting down.
