PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

In what way was any response I gave "aggressive"? I have you the answer, and provided a reason for the answer. You wanted to know if it night be by the end of August. I said that the weeks mentioned didn't mean that, and explained why.
I didn't mean you. I was answered above. I had no problems communicating with you. You are one of the few here who speaks constructively!

i to look at the steam stats it says 19.7% of steam accounts have killed one player meaning they engaged in pvp,
That equalls millions of accounts which doesnt include the millions of accounts that playd pvp on "old legacy accounts" and console accounts.
I estimate all accounts total many millions of accounts have playd pvp in 7d2d over the years.

Hi @faatal ,
I'm really concerned about the fate of the Frostclaw Zombie and the Plague Spitter. Yes, they’re a bit fantastical and don’t entirely fit into the game’s tone, but they’re already fully implemented — models, animations, sounds, and XML configs are all ready.

I think it would be great to keep them, just with a few adjustments. Here's what I propose:

Frostclaw Zombie:
Keep only the regular version. Make it crawl like the spider zombie, so it looks more like an animal (jumping isn't necessary). It should still spawn in the snow biome but very rarely. The player should encounter it so rarely that it feels special and memorable. It should drop a 100% guaranteed red special loot bag (similar to how the nurse drops a meds bag — you can assign something unique for the Frostclaw). Buff its HP, damage, and speed.
Also, add a challenge to the challenge menu: Kill 10 of them — and come up with a fitting reward.
In the end, it’ll be a fun, rare zombie — basically a snowy yeti-style easter egg from the devs. Here's a lore-friendly explanation: these are mutant zombies grown in a lab. They were tested with various mutagens to help them survive in cold regions — resulting in fur-covered zombies with claws to help forage in such climates.

Optional but nice additions:
  1. Add some torn pants — makes it more believable that it was once human.
  2. Create one POI where these mutants were grown. I’ve seen plenty of POIs where mutants or wight zombies are experimented on.

Plague Spitter:
Keep only the regular version. Make it spit 3 swarms at once, instead of one. It should spawn in the desert — but very rarely. Again, the encounter should feel special. You can also tweak its stats — HP, damage, and speed.
Add a challenge in the challenge menu: Kill 10 of them. Another cool developer easter egg — a lone, wandering mummy zombie in the desert. Give it a red special loot bag as well.
Lore idea: these were once unfortunate people who got bitten and wandered into the desert, where insects started feeding on them. Eventually, they became plagued hosts, spitting out swarms of bugs.
Optional:
  1. Add some torn pants as well.

In the end, we get to keep these zombies in the game, and their encounters will feel unique and exciting. Think of them as mini-bosses that spawn rarely. Players will have an extra incentive to explore the snowy or desert biomes to find and fight them.

Again? You have your own topic. It is even pinned. Why do you insist on trying to derail this one by reposting the same misinformation and misleading information and made up data over and over, no matter how often you are proven wrong?

If you kill NPCs in mods, the game counts it as if a player did it, so you can complete achievements that way.

just in case any of you are interested, Joel went on Reddit today, apparently to do research, He posted about Jars, and asked why do people like them? he alluded to TFP thinking about changing the water system again...maybe bringing back jars...maybe not. Apparently he plans on doing a poll soon about stuff...on Reddit.

If TFP brings back jars, I'll get rid of them again. I prefer using buckets to gather water and abstracting the water containers. The whole jar thing has just become a pathological fixation for some people.

Fill a bucket with water, boil it on your fire, put clean water in your inventory.

After you drink the water, where does the water container go? Same place as all your used candy wrappers, spent shell casings, use medkit packs, used bandages, used cat food cans, empty repair kit toolboxes, and empty gas cans! :P

If that is not false information and they bring back empty jars, it would remove my confidence in TFP. If it is optional (which it wouldn't be), then fine. But they were a horrible mechanic and bringing them back suggests that TFP is no longer capable of making their own game and will just cave into pressure, which means the game will just be garbage by the time it is finished.

It's not false, but from what I took from it is if jars are brought back, they won't be the same as they were before.

Here is the post if anyone is interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/7daystodie/s/VfyZ8UoDu8

I mean it's something that was removed and highly requested again so i dont see the harm.

I've already talked on how they should do. And the distilled water idea is a cool idea joel came up with.

But tiers of water would be better not the old way

Meh. Whatever. It was never about the jars for me; it was about removing the ability to draw water from natural sources, and forcing us to use those goofball dew collectors.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Whatever TFP ends up doing, if I don't like it, then I'll just continue using the bucket and canteen mods for water gathering.

Lowering stack size and removing the ability to craft them would've fixed them from the get-go, honestly.

About jars, what Joel and you guys brainstorm, can go to a good solution from being removed to being brought back in a proper way.

Having empty jars being found out there and fill up the water collectors is a good one (using filter of course), filing them with water from water sources such as lakes, rivers, could bring a need to put them over the camp fire with char coal (without being related with recipe or book, from day one) for example to make it not fully drinkable, but on the way to be.

Also empty jars not being able to be crafted with just sand on campfire is a good and proper step forward.

Just a thought that can go further.

Just read Adam`s though to use crucible, to craft them later in game and I think he is on the right path of thinking about that.
