PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Hello @faatal

Now that we had the 2.0 Town Hall stream and have been told about what changes and additions are coming, can you please talk about some of the very first changes we will see, possibly coming in an experimental build being released in the coming days or weeks.

Thank you.
It is basically what was said.

Storm buffs in 2 stages that are biome specific effects/names and longer times. Weaker buffs from rain/snow which should include forest. Biome hazard name/art/buff changes, in any order, crafted, 4 slots, different challenges. Drop on death. Sheltered safety. Themed foods/meds for hazards that also increase storm buff stage times. Allan already has many changes for these.

Wetness is returning. I made code changes today to add a wetnessrate based on rain/snow falling on you or immersion in liquid. That will effect buffs like hot/cold. Probably campfire/torch modifiers.

It will be weeks. These buffs are complicated and there will be a lot of tweaking and bugs to fix.

Edit:
I also forgot 3 types of insulation mods to slow down storm (de)buff stages.

I can't wait to be wet again!

If I understand correctly, the next patch should be expected by the end of August???

Why do we need to take responsibility? The entire state of the game is our responsibility. We are responsible if you like it or don't. All of it.

Actions are what matter, not words. We are working on improvements and you will see them when released.

Why do we need to ask for questions when this forum and the internet are already filled with the questions? Just like during the town hall I was sitting there reading as many questions as I could and it was all repeats of what we have already been reading. What the company said during the townhall was our response to the questions we chose to answer.
Where to start?

Why did you even have a road map? If there was NO INTENTION of following it? WHY? and I DO WANT AN ANSWER TO THIS.
the current broken road map should end at the end of this year, as per previous conversation, I have already publicly stated I don't expect to see Bandits before Q4 2026. and thinking about that more...how much more time will all the stuff from the "townhall" take to implement BEFORE you can get back to progress 3.0? And Q4 2026...how many people out there think that is probably reasonably in the ball park? well that's a year after the roadmap ran out and there is still 4.0 to go.

(if you read that and are saying fudge the roadmap...COOL...but they used it to sell the game...so fudge you too)

So you can say "watch our actions" and I will say look to the above. This is like an argument about how safe are senior drivers?
a senior might think they got there safe so they are still "good", while the other drivers want to at least do the speed limit, get thru an intersection, not pull their hair out.

The extra six month delay was a result of no storm's FOR STORM's BREWING
all dates subject to change is being badly abused.
we have no clue when the rest of the road will even be attempted...because YOU CAN'T tell me how long it is going to take to clean up 2.0, you've said you expect it will take a couple of months. I'll add, that's IF everything goes well. That's a big IF ain't it?

ALL I AM ASKING FOR IS BETTER COMMUNICATION.

why should you have ASKED for questions? A Town hall IMPLIES there will be two way communication. I even tried to get someone ON HERE to do it for you....nothing.
Just like how prepared this site was for console gamers to come back to the game.

The road map is great because it tells players like me what will be added to the game in the future, in what order, and with tentativ dates. If you don't see the value in that then you are probably not very interested in this game despite all your emotional outburts.

And why do you think there was no intention in following the road maps? The dates might have been unrealistically optimistic, but no one believed them anyway, did we?

great...not the first time someone has said that the roadmap is just the order we will get updates...so why the timings? why lay out a reasonable timeline?

They are tentative dates they wish to aim for, but they are not set in stone. They probably shouldn't have given any at all, but what's done is done. They can't go back in time and change what happened.

Tentative, sure, but the roadmap implied that they were buttoning up what they have...not that they still want the freedom to chase rabbits.
I did not agree to chasing rabbits...the wiggle room I agreed to was for finalizing...not STILL imagineering
You are right...can't go backwards, but, you can change what is not working. that is what I am asking for.

What are you referring to as "chasing rabbits?"

Speaking of which, have they made chickens faster/as fast as the player recently? For the second time today, I pursued a chicken with full stamina, no encumbrance, and 95% mobility, and it outpaced me all throughout.
