PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Dude.....ive been playing this since the beginning....ive had many conversations with the team..I love the game....and keep coming back each update...just like this last one..I was a tester for the game...Go back and play A6/7 thru A13/14..... some of the blood moons battles in the cities were epic, where you pretty much were throwing rocks at the end of the night,,,45 minute firefights with waves of zombies..It was exciting and fun. .But unless you have seen the past iterations.....you have no idea how much has changed!!
Hmm... I don't think I quoted you in that reply.

I beg of you...please make it so the brightness adjustment below 50% doesn't affect indoor brightness during the day.
It's barely a thing. I can't stand brightness of burning shaft mod for weapons, this thing make me so crazy i tried to fix that with mods but it didn't work well.

@faatal
I beg of you...please make it so the brightness adjustment below 50% doesn't affect indoor brightness during the day. I absolutely love the way it looks at night at 0%, both outdoors and in, but during the day it gets way too dark indoors.
Darker nights has been requested by a lot of players since they changed that to the worse. Didn't TFP very recently say they listen to feedback, they have heard us? That means we can expect a "nighttime darkness adjuster" in game options soon, maybe even with "random brightness between this and that percentage changing every night", right? RIGHT?

Would be a very small change (basically another fix for a fix we never needed) but a HUGE improvement to the game.

Out of curiosity, what setting do you have your brightness on in game? I noticed if you hit default it goes to 50% which is waaay to bright. But setting it to 0% is perfect (perfect for me, but a lot find that too dark for their liking.) What I'd love is a way to control this from the server so we can set a global brightness for pvp

Believe it or not: My question is in good faith
I go outside of this forum, the reception to the town hall is: not great
people are mad that TFP took NO responsibility...and worse BLAMED us for adding to the delays.

People do not believe that TFP is listening. a town hall is a different thing from what you just put on. You did not solicit questions from us. NOT EVEN ON HERE.

It is going to take communication to repair the damage.

People can believe what they want.
In the end it's a business selling games ffs and they're not required to appease the general public.

I despise this mechanic where "you either do as I say or I'll <place retaliatory measure here>".
The ones who shout the loudest have to decide what is developed? ■■■■ them! 😡

And all of this when they perfectly know this is probably the most modable game on the market!

I would be more likely to believe your question were in good faith if you had included a question in your post. Now it seems like adding a question to your post was just intended to make your post into something more than exaggerated whining.

So they aren't listening? They plan to make a lot of changes based on feedback that they didn't listen to? Sure. That makes perfect sense. Anyone who still says they aren't listening is just upset that the thing they want isn't being done (probably jars or LBD considering those are the loudest minority here). It is obvious that they are listening and it is disingenuous to say otherwise.

And they did take questions. They just didn't solicit questions. They pulled popular questions from multiple sources as they said... here, Reddit, Steam, etc. They answered a number of the more popular questions, which was good. There wasn't any need to try and get more questions or respond to the questions in the chat, which were going by too quickly and were things that were already answered long ago (no to jars, no to LBD).

To me that is sort of contradictory to itself.
I would think you would want to appease as many as you could to sell the most games to make the most profit...if it is just a business selling games.
If you don't care that much about profit and want to make a game that "you think" is a really good game then that is another thing. Tastes vary enough that you may have a hit or not.

I feel like Joel's brother is just like that. Could he have said that better? Yes

But he was trying to say due too this there will be delays. I dont think he said it right tho

I think the Town Hall went well even if we didn't get everything we wanted. It's impossible to appease everybody and when it comes down to certain features getting added/removed, they won't budge on their stance if the answer is no. Some people have a hard time being told that.

Could the stream have went better? Absolutely.

Could they have had more viewer interaction? Absolutely.

Could Joel have phrased himself a little better? Absolutely.

It wasn't perfect, but at least it's something, and I hope to see more Town Hall-like streams in the future.

I believe that was the purpose of the stream. They addressed at least the majority of the issues players had raised with 2.0.

I've seen mixed reactions on reddit (for example) to the "town hall" (yeah, that ended up being a bit of a misnomer). Some came away from it and the only things they heard were "blaming us for the bandit delays" and "pushing merch". Some said they were encouraged by what they heard, and are cautiously optimistic now.

I can't relate to what seems to me like outrage. I don't think it's warranted. Some people seem to have some distorted sense of entitlement, like TFP are somehow obligated to address each and every grievance held by those who are yelling the loudest. This is certainly not my area of expertise, but it seems like some sort of psychological phenomenon is occuring. Like some mob mentality thing. People get emboldened when they hear other people reflecting similar opinions, and then it builds and builds and builds, until they somehow feel like they have the power, and the right, to demand that others must make appeasing them their highest priority. And why is this again? Because they spent $25 on a video game 5-10 years ago? It's rather mind boggling to me.

That's the internet for you.

gee...if only you read and understood the forum you'd know you only had to scroll up a tiny bit to see the original question was to crator creator. thanks

Sure, If they are not going to hire a community manager or communicate better on here....have more town halls...anything to achieve better communication OR they can not be bothered....keep on going to the same way...it's not like they are hemorrhaging support over this....oh wait... they are.

You'd be surprised. You need to make the game you want to make, otherwise you'll end up with a mess that is cludged together iwth as many things as possible(just look at the AAA game industry) too many cooks spoil a soup as they say.

TFPs are making the game they want to make, if there are mis-steps along the way they will fix them, but they aren't making a game for the largest audience, they are making what they want to make. it will find an audience or it won't. but based on the sales they have had, and continue to have, have found their audience.
