PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

This is not the place for this conversation. I only wanted to thank the devs for what they are doing, and I wanted to specifically respond to a developer about it.

If your post is moved somewhere else then I will respond to it, but not here.

Or, if you want to reply personally, we can have a conversation in private. Your choice.
Thanks for pointing out the typo. Not my native language but still, I'm glad you are a polite gentleman, not like those plague spitters over there. Do I love trolling, my god. Sorry, hugs. Have a nice day. Staph it.

Wait until you complete the Wasteland Treasures book set. You'll be swimming up to your neck in them, I'm sure. I ended up with 30-odd unused legendary parts in my last playthrough.

I think for a lot of these pitchfork wielders, the jars complaint is just a war chant they parrot off of one another and little more. That's just my unfounded speculation, though.

Personally speaking, I'm completely 50/50 neutral on the whole thing. Dew collectors, jars, don't care. I'm just happy the former are no longer basically trader exclusive since 1.0, though. (As a minor suggestion, perhaps the chance of finding the appropriate mods could be upped in the broken dew collectors? Also, why does the water filter mod cost half as much as a crucible anyway?)
I do love most of the changes over the years. Dumping Learn by doing was a sacrifice that improved the game in most aspects, perks are simple, LBD would have to be extremely progressive and the enemy difficulty well balanced and the experience for everything gated behind specific progressive threats for it to work, which is difficult and time consuming to develop. Jars? very good change, smoothies? meh, they could do more or the achievement could have more stuff to do, badges? alright, they are fine as they define a gating purpose and a long list of etc. Overall the game is better. I do miss temperature as it added a very nice kind of flavour to survival. Wetness too.

I do miss the game telling me that I was wet when I came upon the main loot of a POI tbh.

Two things about the beacons that replaced the bouncing exclamation point:

1. The light at the top of the beacon looks like an exclamation point, and is colored to recall the exclamation point. I am embarrassed that it took me so long to notice this.

2. Just before starting to clear a new POI, I noticed that I was near a previously cleared POI with an storage crate outside. (I use the storage crates to enable me to thoroughly loot a POI, then come back as convenient to retrieve the loot.) When I hopped over to empty the crate, I found a beacon that couldn't be activated. While puzzling over that, I popped into the loot stash and pilfered the replenished loot. I dumped that loot into the storage crate, with the anomalous beacon still humming nearby. An air drop fell not so far off, so I interrupted my interruption to take care of that. When I returned to empty the storage crate, the anomalous beacon was gone. Anybody else seen an anomalous beacon?

I wonder if this is something that could be addressed by spawning bears and wolves in the hill and mountain areas of the forest? Could spawning be tied to a "subzone" based on Hills/Mountains?
The best option would be settings. They want to see an oasis in a forest biome. Setting so that boars, bears and wolves spawn in the forest at any time!

Prey, back in 2006, had a Native American as the player character (not real current, I know).
Prey 2022 the movie had a Native American Heroine. Basically it was Predator during the days of western
expansion.

@faatal
Will the dye-able areas have zones, like pads, main. like the alt skin for the rads,
or single dye-able area? Dying my bow made me think of it after watching the
Town Hall meeting.

With the idea of possibly looking at older and possibly re-adding older aspects
of the game, will you be using some of the mechanics already in place, or starting
from scratch for most of it? Like with smell, I ask because could decoy, and a sight
sense buff kind of emulate it? Just asking.

Why is the Frost Claw a rock throwing pole?

I agree that they still need to add many POIs, boats, ports, airports, and for the books, they only need to make 100 volumes for each crafting skill to learn. And if we have, for example, three or two copies, can we recycle them to get research sheets and craft another volume or combine them to get the next volume?
I have the impression that the most popular changes concerning the adventure dimension of the game are not the most listened to (apart from the dramas).

That said, there is a mod on the Nexus that prevents vending machines from ever restocking once they're out. There's also one that sets the restocking interval to like every 30 days or something.
I'm not having any luck finding these on the nexus or 7daystodiemods.com. Do you know the name of either of these mods? I feel like I've seen these before while browsing through the mods, but I have no clue what they're called.

This mod has an optional variant ("cheaper vending machines don't restock") that prevents restocking after a machine sells out. The thing about the Nexus is that a lot of modlets are actually sub-modlets that won't necessarily show up in a search. So you really have to dig around.

I know I've seen a more recent mod that does the same thing, but I can't remember the name or what mod it might be a sub-mod of. You can try checking exCyborg's Disrupted Mod optional files, as he has dozens of optional modlets that tweak gameplay in this sort of way.

good concept, but in my experience the enemies don't observe borders and regularly cross into other biomes causing confusion for me when I haven't realized how near I was to an advanced area. Animals that spawn only in the rougher areas of Forest biome would not necessarily maintain a clear connection to those areas and would likely seem to be spawning everywhere.

Yes, I saw a lot of these in the past. I posted maybe a month ago about quest flags at POIs with no quests. Sylen said they had only seen that in internal testing. At first it was just an occasional anomalous flag. At one point though I could fly around a small town and half the POIs had a quest flag. Then it seemed to stop. I haven't seen them for a while.

There is a possibility for this, have not thought about it before, but now I'.m interested.
Each biome has sub biomes, If a tag say Wildspawn was added to some of the subs, and
the wander and patrol distance were adjusted for an alt wolf and bear in entitiesclasses.xml
then added to spawning for the affected biome, and finally add a group with the alt entities
it might regulate them to covering groups. Would require pre-testing to synch it right, unless
it were one max alive per, then you would have to zig zag if you were trying to avoid them.

This was shown by example in the stream and looked nice, it also brought a question to mind.

Third person hopes to be right and left shoulder aim, does that mean the animation
switches from right to left hand, if so does it also toggle right and left hand
for first person, and if that is so does it equate for all weapons and tools?

Or is it camera view only, because left hand view with right hand weapon hold takes
you from cover aiming from the left of cover?

Sounds almost as if the game thinks it's running in World Editor mode, which does show all quest beacons.

Yep, saw one recently in 2.1
