PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Tell me about it but I hope some of the stuff gets a bit nerfed down after feedback
One of the first things most of us think while hyped hours before release of new version is not only to find out the new things and have fun with them, but also how well balanced is everything.

I remember many talks that have said that till gold, the game will have its changes, good you mention it, watched some awesome streamers in the latest hours, it is experimental after all, we`ll give some feedback where needed, no doubt.

So far, hat off for The Pimps from me. Big thanks and anticipation for the next one !

I don't blame you I'm hyped for it as well

I kinda regret watching all the things but I like to stay informed.. I did that more or less for 1.0

But this update has me hyper. I'm ready to become a caveman and live in my room to play

From many months to only hours left. Feel you.

Btw one of the first things I wanna do, in the first few hours of the game, is to get into fight with some of the new zeds.

We all know how it`s gonna go, though it will worth it.

P.S. I am not giving ideas. Just wanna challenge myself into the new stuff. From the beginning 🫡

For sure that square box at the center-top of the screen with the announcement of the impending storm needs to be nerfed. Small icon at the left-bottom corner is more than enough for avid 7DTD slayers.

I have no idea about other features but so far I am happy with further optimization attempts, spawn near friend option, further perk tree balancing, new types of enemies, even more interesting POIs.

FEEDBACK:
The only thing that puts me off are the 1x1 block zombie crouch animation. I believe zombies should go prone, use 3-4 limbs instead of neatly going crouch without even stumbling around. Also, Frostclaw could possibly throw smaller and faster stones with one hand. Getting out boulders every single time is not enough for me.

I am super-hyped with many of my mates checking every week when does the next (AFTER-ALPHA 🤣 ) come out.

Wait, wait, I am on the same thought as you, if there are two or probably three sort of ways of cop-spitting, desert bee guy and snow frosty one throwing their things on us, on random sequence and size, would add really good layer of survival, I am in !

What they also need to do is throw/summon even when they don't see you. At least on horde night

So you have frostclaws just throwing rocks at your base like a catapult

Also Flys should go through bars

@faatal I hope you are able to rest and relax a little and will be ready to start squashing some bugs on Monday. Hopefully, not too many things to fix because 2.0 Experimental seems solid so far from what I've seen. The amount of work clearly shows... Many thanks!

I've noticed in some of the videos of the storms being showcased, the skies and clouds don't change either.

Is this intentional?
That sounds like a sync bug as the storm looks like a storm. Clouds, lighting, wind, precipitation, particles all change. There are probably a few bugs in the system, like rain can turn to snow in the forest at night when it is not supposed to be that cold.

Kind of. Been mostly playing the game, watching streamers and discussing with the team. Still a lot of hours worked this week.

But it doesn't. I been able to go quite far in the game as an agility build with only 1 point in Miner 69 and motherlode. I have built bases from scratch or heavily converted ruined out POIs without having to spend more than 1 point in those perks. Does it make it easier to do those things if you max out those perks? Of course. But that is true in any perk you max out. Is it required to be able to mine and build? Not at all.
So what’s the harm in moving the resource gathering perks into the general perks tree?

During the dev stream they hinted at some kind of big change to Horde Night and mentioned a dev diary specifically on that. Anyone have any idea what they mean't by that? Or is that a future update beyond the current 2.0 one

In the future or even in a mod, It would be nice if special visual storms could be set to
an event associated with the Screamer, or a randomized horde event. Mainly because
of what Faatal said regarding the fog and camera clipping. If associated with the volume
as the horde is dispersed the storm would lessen and dissipate.

The thought is it would be an early indicator of the screamer or a horde coming like "Riders
on the Storm". It would also reduce distance load that would possibly allow more entities on
screen because of less draw for distance. On horde night if it blanketed the entire area of the
base it would make a great movie scene, arena type battle. Like the Fog.
On horde night non-damaging but limiting visibility.

Will we still be able to play on our 1.4 saves still?

When I started my game on Xbox, the news article on the start screen said 1.4 saves won't work. Does that mean they won't work with the new features, or they just won't run at all?

If 1.4 saves won't load at all:
* It will mean the large scale base my friend and I have been creating for the past 4 months while waiting for this incredibly delayed update will be for nothing. We'll not just be extremely disappointed, but also angry - honestly. We have worked on it with hopes of using it for this update and sharing it with our other friends at the time of the update. If our efforts and creativity are to just be erased, that's grossly inconsiderate.(n)
* It means the version number on the save files has no purpose. It otherwise suggests each save from different game versions are still playable.
* It means there was no effort given to include backward compatibility. It is not only expected, but also not a difficult programming endeavor. Delay it another month or six if needed.

If 1.4 saves won't work with the new features but can still be played:
* I'll just be disappointed.

I'm not sure if this has already been covered, but even if it has I think it's important to voice my opinion. Can you let me know?

Either way, looks like disappointment is brewing.

P.S. The 50% damage buffs/defense perks in the update seem ill-thought.

Faatal answered this already: here

1.x saves will not load in 2.0. This has always been the case for major updates to my knowledge.
