Its only horse armor right? Thats how it always start you test the waters to see what you can get away with then you go a bit further till where you started is the norm and people defend it so you can keep pushing nonsense and next thing ya know we have the usual its only cosmetics, its only a bundle for ammo, its only a time saver DLC, its only an optional quest

Its amazing how folks just seem to defend moves like this which of course explains the current state of gaming and how we have so many different game editions, microtransactions and other nonsense that turns a $40 game into a $100 game. Stuff that used to be included or earned through gameplay is now part of cost for players. Why add in a NPC who sells clothing for in game currency when you can add in dialog to a Quest giving NPC to mention and try to direct players to pay real world money for cosmetics.
 
Hmmm let's see.... Have a trader mention something about the skins when you go to visit him/her or have an ad pop up during game play forcing us to watch a 30/45+ second video 🤔 DANG!! This is a tough one, but I think I'm going to have to go with the trader.

Not to mention the fact that the armor sets that are being sold as DLC were originally regular sets of armor that had yet to be added to the game. There are some fans in this forum that bend over backwards to justify any and every faulty move by TFP. It's one thing to enjoy the game and support the developers, but supporting them doesn't mean brushing off any bad addition or business move they made, such as not giving free copies of the console edition to legacy 7DTD console owners.

You do know that they had to pay to get back the console rights? Surely wasn´t cheap. I reckon they wouldn´t have been able to give it away for free, they also have to pay a company to port the game to console. Also i feel that more PC players are angry about that than actual console players. I saw this mentioned on the steam forums way more often than anywhere else and couldn´t find a single thread about this on the archived console setion from the old forum.

Sure sucks though having to pay 30$ again (they got 30% off if they owned the old version). They should have given it away for free, but i doubt that would have been possible.

Fair enough, you make good points.

As a PC player I'm not angry about that, I'm angry they made a console port in the first place, because having to adhere to console specs and regulations is likely the main contributor to why we have the watered down ■■■■ that we have now.

So fans who bought the game, expecting further updates (which I think was a mistake as current-gen consoles can barely handle it), should pay for a business blunder by TFP?

There are examples of developers offering free upgrades to the next generation console version, with Cyberpunk 2077 coming to mind.

Well who knew Telltale were going to flop. I mean they seemed to be going places. TWD franchise and all. Granted their story-telling games were about as entertaining to me as watching paint dry, but they seemed popular.

I didn't follow along closely with it (because filthy casuals, pffft!) but I really don't think TFP is to blame here, and honestly giving a 30% discount when they were not legally liable for anything was kind of them.

I paid full price for my game, even with having the legacy version on my PS5. But I was still happy paying full price, because it was something completely new and had been burnt out on the legacy for quite some time.
 
Just a declaimer on filthy casuals, I only hate you the way football fans hate fans of other teams (except for Patriots fans, because EVERYONE really does hate them!).
I should also specify American Football, and not real Football, because I think the rest of you psychos honestly do hate fans of a different club than your own.

Not gonna lie, I wish they had still been added as armor. If I had to guess though...

Some ideas for the Desert armor may have been scrapped during the process of sussing out Storm's Brewing.

Some ideas for the Hoarder armor ended up becoming the new version of Pack Mule, I'd wager. I vaguely remember Hoarder being Heavy Armor during the 1.0 dev streams, so it might have had a bonus to potentially block damage on a % chance.

Marauder... they might not have had any ideas for. It might have leaned too closely to the Raider armor. I don't know.

These are just my own theories, mind you. I'm not stating any of this as fact.

You're creating a conspiracy theory out of one word in an meaningless sentence that most people ignore. Calm down. So far, none of the Fun Pimps' actions have suggested that they would take this path. For JaWoodle, it's likely just another running gag, similar to his childish dislike of the Stun Baton.

Telltale messed up, not TFP. Unless crystal balls do really work, no one could have known that before hand. I mean they had games llike Sam and Max; Tales from the Borderlands, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, they should have never gone bankrupt tbh.

@NiteVIper You had a month after the release to claim your cheaper version. Which was too short tbh.

That the console market took off the way it did along with the fact that mods are sold on console whereas the modding community always has worked on goodwill and donations, when possible, is also why paid mods are now clumsily making their way into the PC market with communities just as divided over them and financially supporting mod authors, mod authors themselves splitting into "always free" and "paid mods" camps.

The console market isn't going away and developers would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't accommodate console players, but the console market is arguably the main driver of the ruination of the formerly symbiotic relationship between developers and players. The wedge is multinationals and, unless they're reigned in and put under some semblance of human control, I don't see that changing. That, of course, would take unprecedented cooperation among nations as it would with all other multinationals seeking to become extranationals unaccountable to any nation's laws and regulations as the "network state" tech bros are attempting now and, last I checked, nations are still embroiled in Resource Wars.

It is still only a $45 game (cheaper if you wait for any sales out there or even more if you bought it during EA). The cosmetic armor bundles are not required at all to play this game, they provide 0 stat bonuses unlike the armor you get in-game for free.

Does Joel tell the player to click on any links to get the armor? No he doesn't. Does he flash up a QR code for the survivor to scan in to take them to the store to get the armor? No he doesn't. Does he mention the armor set which might make the player curious and they explore on their own the DLC set and decide on their own if they want to purchase it or not? Yes he does.

It's a game you paid for already. Defending such practices is what allows it to happen to begin with. This isn't some free mobile game. Why would I want ads in a game I paid full price for?

That being said I don't think TFP intended the line as such.

Well without any microtransactions they couldn´t provide the servers at least not for very long, Fallout76 is MP online only. I prefer having the option to buy ingame currency over a monthly rate.
