PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Okay but why from 1.0 when bandits were never scheduled for that? If you want to needlessly point out the obvious that bandits are behind schedule then start the clock from when they were originally scheduled to arrive which was April-July of 2025. Bandits are overdue by 4-5 months and counting as of now. But even that isn't news. We knew bandits would be late the moment 2.0 didn't release in December of 2024

GM and HD, if you guys like to have a bugged and glitched game, try to develop one, I bet it will be as fast as probably some moments in your life that you thought worth it, but not for the other side, that you`ve been with.

This is game development and it takes time. Another thing you should learn from ;)
nope...don't try and say I am trying to rush them...I just want better communication. What faatal just did...would be fine on a regular basis. Save your childish ad hominem attacks for another day.

Got your point, but the devs share stuff when it is ready to be shared properly among us and every community around internet, we cannot act grumpy for them not doing it, right ?

Because a work in progress is something that some wouldn`t accept right and will add a lot of clutter to discussions as we do now, this is why, with the years of development, us the members of this forums learned to leave them have their space, and when they are ready, they share what is cool for us to know, which is always a hype.

This is why I don't think IzPrebuilt was being lazy, or disingenuous. Given that it's difficult to find information saying that these things are coming in 2.x, why wouldn't he be inclined to think they're 3.0 features?
I have to disagree with this. If someone is doing videos about a topic, they should be taking the time to find the actual information they are talking about. If they aren't willing to do so, then they should be very up front about "this is just my guess and I don't know anything for sure and haven't taken the effort to find out." It really isn't that hard to find out information. Faatal is the person who almost always provides it, so a search for posts by him on a specific topic will often yield results without much effort. Not everything is as easy to find - storms, for example are too big of a topic to easily find posts about if you are just searching for "storms" - but a lot of things are easy to find. And if he couldn't find the information himself, he could always ask someone who stays on top of the news. And if either of those don't work or he's just absolutely not interested in finding out the truth, he should be very clear about that as I said. Otherwise, it's just an attempt to drum up drama to get views. No different from all the news stations these days.

I have some quick questions: What happened to Trader Jimmy, did he get cut...
and become trader Jen? Also what happened to Trader Caitlin did her character get
Rekt or something, And last What happened to Trader ric making an appearance?

First will any of these make a reprisal before development ends, and if
they are all labeled as IsEnemyEntity, are they going to have a duplicitous
role in the future when interacting with the players? You know, like tainted food,
erroneous meds, weapons that fail, boot to the head, etc. That would be an interesting
turn of events. At least for me.

Bandits are cool and all, but I understand why they do prefer to push the game into a proper state first by polishing the few remaining features. Npcs are expected to squeeeeeze every inch of performance this engine can provide. 5x the cost per bandit vs a zombie will be an impressive feat of engineering, specially if their AI can do proper navigation and reaction in any edge case that comes up.

If they get bandits to build basic props around our base I'll quit my job and family and resort to the "caveman" scenario. Never to be heard again until steam hours played overflows the double-precision floating-point entry.

Last I heard it was 3x the cost !? Are you assuming that will slip with further development?

Bingo!
The thing that bothers me the most though is when they set a roadmap that isn't obtained...
than admins, forum moderators, server owners are stuck explaining to their populations for months on end why bandits haven't come or when they will come? Things would be so much easier if they just came out and told people the facts why they haven't been added and a realistic time line for it to happen.

I think I can answer those two questions:

Why? Because they are not completely finished yet with bandits. Also the timeline still puts version 2 before version 3 and version 2 is not finished yet.
Guessing here: Likely some behaviour in specific situations is still missing with bandits, AI is surely by far the most difficult part of their development

Realistic time line: There is none until a) version 2 is finished and bandits have all features and TFP is in the middle of bug fixing. We know how bad TFP is with estimating timelines above a month or two. You practically failed to state a realistic question when you added "realistic" there ;)

wow...so there are people in THIS conversation, who are on the forums daily, who are confused about what is coming with the 2.0 changes and what from the "town hall" will be implemented in 2.0 or 3.0, but, someone who KNOWS THEY ARE NOT WELCOME HERE should have come here for more info before making a video about what is unknown?
The average person is only following what is on the Socials or if their favorite content creators say something...I would want to be controlling that narrative, as much as possible, with better communication.

There's NO WAY Jen is a tranny! 😁
I was just curious, because ingame you have intimidation media, and Rickt cussing
you out every other breath. I recently realized the traitor sign on Joel's camp,
never really paid attention before. So with the isenemy label it made me wonder.

I figured if I were going to ask that, then I would ask about the other traders.
It was a straight question, I swear that was my sole intent.:ROFLMAO::devilish:

Here are the underlying thoughts, that prompted me to ask those questions.

The traders are stationary, If all loot was removed from the world right now, and it was
converted to a sweep and clear scenario only. The traders would still be getting amply
resupplied every four days from somewhere. So are all of the vending machines.

Supply can't be from the existing pois, or there would be no loot in the containers to loot.
All of the doors are boarded up. Trader vehicles are broken, Bob's engine is on
a hoist, There are no vehicle tracks in the dirt. If they were the ones boarding up all
of the pois, they would never be at the trading post. If they were, their eyes would be
bloodshot and they would be winded and bloody. Of course that would explain alot about
Rekt. It's not all of their employees, because they're dead. It's not constant secret air drops, I learned
this from watching streamers, because more often than not they bivouac across the street from the trader.

Soooo...Someone is doing something shady, somewhere, somehow. Which led me to think that they
will show their hand in the future.

Supply can't be from...
I'll tell you a secret... shhh. :sneaky:

Did you notice the helipads at each traders' compound?

Well, every few days, during the night, when they're closed to the public, a chopper comes from somewhere outside of the quarantine zone and restocks them!

Yes, you heard right! There's a black market which covertly restocks traders in the quarantine zone (Navezgane), even if the military has officially forbidden access. They need to keep it secret of course, because if the military finds out...

The important thing at this point is a few features are being brought back,
the overall consensus and polls on that is very good.
If tfp took the next 5 years to reinstate removed items and to focus on bugs before adding bandits would be perfectly fine with me.
Now you’re pushing for 5 years? You must really feel intimidated by the arrival of bandits. You must think their inclusion will be the final nail in the coffin for some aspect of the game that is super important to you. 😏

I believe that to be a future, enhancement. I know they have
both hands full at the moment, and that isn't priority. But
presently they don't air drop, unless they are using Blue thunder
or air wolf. "Age reference again"

I only say this because, of the streamers that seem to favor
being a stones throw away from the trader, and staying in their
encampment to craft all night. Other than watching Neebs for entertainment,
I watch the others to see how a mod plays out before I download to play it
and that is a favored starting point.

Although, I do like the thought of that as a future addin, as they
begin to incorporate the the new theme. That and having it be dangerous
in the immediate area of the traders. Deliveries and pickups being done
periodically by the factions by air and by ground. Even as inspiration
for a mod.

It could create a whole new set of player related interactions, choices,
and situations.

I have no real expectations, but using that tag as all of their default
in the template, and ric never having been seen yet. That coupled with
the possible desire to keep any story inclusion as simple as possible.

Faatal spoke briefly of events, the flatspot mechanic, the addition of the heli
pads, Jen's constant interjection of stem packs. The injection of another humanesque
element. It just makes it seem that the traders are to have a more active role to
the game itself in the future. It implies extremely vaguely, of a simplistic version
of reputation in order to trade.
