PC V3.0 Sandbox Siege Dev Diary

I wouldn't call "Kill 25 players" really an achievement in a true PvP game and that is the most elite PvP achievement the game offers (out of 4 total). I think the achievements send a clear signal that this game isn't really focused on PvP...

What they should do is change it from "players" to "humans" so that bandits are included in the description (even though they already count in actual gameplay). Then they can increase the numbers to actual achievement worthy levels and everyone can clear them once bandits release.
For reasons mentioned earlier it can't be changed as it is already part of the 100%/platinum or whatever it's called on any platform, thanks to the shackles of crossplay.

But indeed only 25 kills... That's a lazy round in Hell Let Loose on a drunk monday morning.

Sure, they can change it. It might upset people, but they can change it.

They've already changed achievements in the past. The dying ones are much easier now. Meet your maker used to be 500 deaths, now it's 28. Survivalist used to be gamestage 1000 (which was actually impossible for a good while). Think there were others but can't recall right now.

Changing the wording from players to humans wouldn't change the completion records of anyone. It would simply signify that you could can earn it by killing bandits in addition to other players. I agree they shouldn't mess with the numbers and cause anyone's existing 100% to get reduced.

huh...those killing other players achievements are a lot higher. I guess the AI I asked had old information? So another example that achievements can be changed? Those numbers look a lot better for being achievements too. Once bandits come out I look forward to getting those at last. They are the only ones I never got and I didn't care enough to game the system into getting them.

It will be interesting to see if those achievements climb in the accomplished rankings once 4.0 releases.

Edit: so I finally just opened Steam and looked at the current achievements and they are not the ones you have listed with needing 250 kills. They are the inconsequential kill 1, 5, 10, and 25 variety. What is real?

Was that pre 1.0?

The list I posted is a real historical steam list. I try to keep historical data,
only for this game though. I keep a record of the changes, like a learning
text for myself.

EDIT: I think that was one of the originals I think it was from oct 22 2015
It was mid way between Alpha 12.5. and Alpha 13 that was released in december.

The trophy pass program you referred to ended in 2019. The replacement program “PS Stars” stopped accepting new members last year and will end later this year. And I don’t think the replacement program was offering PS “bucks” for trophies anymore because that system was being abused. Regardless, I don’t think either of those will prevent the Devs from changing achievements in this game.

I was refering to the PS Stars program, not to the Telltale era program and trophies were still part of the engagement/loyalty bonusses . It did offer discounts or other things wich is considerred a certain vallue. Neither of us knows the fineprint in the TFP/PSN contract but every patch and update for PS5 has to be approved by Sony so I can imagine this is not a "do as you please" situation either.

This is what @Kosmic Kerman was refering to:

"Effective May 21, 2025, PlayStation Stars is no longer accepting new members and it is not possible to join the program."

Basically, game devs can add new achievements for PS games with any free update or paid DLC. They are kept separate from the "base" game's achievements so they don't break the trophy stuff, but they can be added. Devs can also sometimes reduce the requirements needed to complete achievements that were already in the game, though I assume that may need approval by Sony. I don't believe they can entirely remove an achievement. But since we are talking about adding new achievements, the answer is that yes, they can do so.

Sidenote: I also saw that they are adding a headshots only mode. GOOOD ■■■■ TFP.

2.0 blew ■■■ but calling 1.0 not a success is a stretch when it's literally when the game peaked in players lol.
1.0 only peaked in players because those in the normi world thought the game was finished. They left when they realized this was wrong.

Transport?
Are you asking about player vehicles?
Yes. Regarding players' vehicles. Currently, by default, when placed in the world, a vehicle appears in the "Open" state. Will it be possible to set and edit this parameter through the sandbox? Because I have a server, and players sometimes like to steal from unprotected spots.

It's crazy that nobody can find servers running those golden-days of the game configs that are so superior to the modern state of the game. I wonder why? There are mods that remove the progressing, questing, trading, and learn by reading aspects of the game. If the game really did go in a bad direction starting with Alpha 11 and continuing to today, I'd think that most servers out there would be running games without all the RPG and progression crap that has ruined the open world roaming survival vibe--

unless....
It's because most of them left around A17 and never came back. Went to other games. The gamer community seems strange now too, with all the popular servers running mods that make the game easier.

To be fair, I would think that most people who want that old school feel of the game wouldn't be looking to play on a public or large scale server, because the other people would inevitably ruin the old school feel, internet people being what we are.
It was honestly the best the game had to offer imo. Bases scattered about, was fun even in PvE. You would find others struggling, begging for food. Trading (without using teleports like they do now). Was a great zombie-apocalypse-band-together-community feel. People set up shops (with vending meachines designed for use in multiplayer, useless with 8 players really). It was clear they had multiplayer (over 8 players) in mind with some of the features they added. They also had PvP in mind and even @Roland wrote back in 2016 that they would switch focus to PvP at some point. 10 years ago. I keep getting told that they are doing what they promised, but that is not exactly true.
