A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

Let's all just agree the new armor system is hot garbage lol; the old system was way better. The DLCs are all trash as well and this game is basically hopeless unless the corporate overlords at behavior just rework everything lol We should have clothes; we should have more realistic armor, and my shirt should not also be my pants. It's just so stupid. Oh, and we still can't dye anything, but we could in the past. How did they literally go backwards?!?

What is with the dress-up crowd? Who buys this game to play dress-up? Just alternate between playing Sims and 7 Days so you get your zombie survival fix for a few moments and then hours and hours of trying on different clothes and changing your appearance if that is what you like.

The current outfit system is fine, now includes options for heat and cold, looks tons better than the old armor, and has fun perks attached to them. For a game whose focus is on survival, exploring, killing zombies, and building, the fact that we don’t have closets full of clothing is fine. There are better games out there for playing around with and customizing your toon because that is their focus.

I quite like the *new* armours tbh, but I do hope the stats get looked at again sometime. A lot of overlapping and unless i'm roleplaying i always end up with the same strongest ones, like preacher gloves for example 🥹

Yes, but unless information is shared, all that is available to players is to guess. If certain things are said or things are said in a certain way, it leads people to make assumptions about the likelihood of things happening in the future. If those assumptions are wrong and are making people unhappy about what's going on, it would be helpful to provide at least some kind of comment that these assumptions are wrong so people don't get hung up on them. If nothing is said to contradict those assumptions, people will continue to believe they are correct in those assumptions. And if that leads people to turn away from the game, that isn't a good thing.

I know things are going to be in a state of flux for a while after the acquisition and I know TFP isn't always forthcoming with information, but even just a simple comment that there are no plans from TFP or BI to put actual microtransactions into the game (in-game purchases with real money), that would really help. It doesn't even need any specific details. I am fairly certain that TFP and BI have discussed that topic and made at least a preliminary decision... never add them or probably add them or definitely add them. Maybe you can't comment on it, and if it's anything other than "never", it won't improve anything if you did comment, but it's out there now and people are going to make guesses and assumptions and speculate on what's to come. Right now, those speculations are unfavorable for some (maybe a lot) of people, including myself.
When I said unknown, I literally mean no one knows certain things. I don't know. Decisions have to be made. That will take time. Then more decisions. Lessons learned. I can't see the future, so I can only guess what will happen. We are still here and working on the game to make it better. I think 3.0 will be great. 4.0 should be interesting.

Jeeze no. Crank difficulty to Insane and drop loot to the minimum 25%? (I wonder if there's a mod that'd set it to like 5%) Limit firearm use to Bears, Dire Wolves and horde night.
Place your home in the Wasteland as soon as you can survive there (no cheese).
You will die on occasion if not careful. You'll die even if you are careful.

Blue & Gold Wights, Mutants and Cops will all ruin your day.
You will be able to do crazy stuff with the sandbox settings. There should be a lot of game variety you can get out of them.

Not gonna lie - having to constantly swap armor for Combat, Sneaking, Farming, Crit Healing, Driving, Bartering, Reading, Trading, Harvesting Wood, Mining, Scavenging, Looting & Lockpicking
Gets tiresome fast and clogs inventory.

Are you unfamiliar with Fashion Souls?

Taking my job bro! I'll be sure to make sure I buy 5 more Pirate DLCs as a consequence to your crimes
I think that's punishing yourself more than me

That's what I don't get about the armor overhaul. Joel said in one of the devs streams that he hates dress up mechanics where you have to micromanage your armor and that he tried it in Ark and didn't like it.

And they've also said they hate inventory clutter.

And yet? The armor system is as inventory cluttering as it gets AND it requires constant micromanagement of clothing.

Then don't do it? I swap clothes for only a handful of reasons. Farming, Mining, and Bartering. In ALL cases, I'm not carrying that armor on me. Farming and mining stay at the base until I'm ready to do that activity. Bartering I usually have a single item in whatever vehicle I have. The only time I carry a piece of armor on me is if I happen to find the Nerd outfit. Again, single slot. This complaint of constantly swapping clothes for every activity is a little ridiculous. Just don't do it if it bugs you.

I think the devs think We All do; the armor system change was to make the dolls look pretty, and the DLC-barbie outfits are being sold to make the dolls look pretty.
If mechanics and gameplay were the important bits, we wouldn't Have the new outfit system.

Also, framing the thermal gear as "options" sounds a little wild. You have the choice between "the same thing, just better in all ways"... not exactly options ;)

So don’t play it that way then. I don’t. I treat armor like I do the attributes. I’ll try one set for a playthrough and then a different set for another playthrough. It means every time I play I have a different set of strengths and I let that guide my gameplay. I think I tried changing outfits to match the task I was doing once and stopped during that same playthrough because…well…I’m not into dress-up gameplay. No, I’ll play the entire game with one load out and switch it for the next for different set of bonuses.

I think the devs know enough people do to make it worth their time to do it. I’m glad the new armor sets look better than the old puffy layered armor before. I’m glad they have stat bonuses.

I was lumping the underclothes and the armor liner mods together as the options for hot and cold. I get that they are no-brainer items that you would never not choose to slot in. But then again so was the puffer coat or the poncho.

I just meant that outfits do help us now vs climate changes whereas before they didn’t. The temperature gameplay was one feature the old clothing system had over the new outfit system but now they are more equal in that regard.

My OCD prohibits that, my days of playing MMO's and min/maxing will stick with me forever.
Some things I don't bother with like the Rogue Hood since Loot-Stage is useless to me once I craft Legendary gear.
I went as far as to make infographics to remind me what armor to make.

Glad you're happy. For me, the new looks system, outfits combined with the "pick your race and sex" -character creator.. I'd be happier if they were still distilled down by one layer; "pick your character". Like Borderlands, or Slay the Spire .. you'd just have ready made, named characters. We're basically there already. We got the skins option already, there's no point in keeping armor bonuses tied to looks when they're not.

For named characters, you usually get competing choices .. entirely different classes, or at least some strong specializations. Could be curious; but it seems very few studios have the balls, or the creativity to create limits anymore. And TFP is firmly against those, it seems ... :P

The funny blip that was Highguard was an awesome example of that; soldiers and mages, riding on horses, bears and panthers; all shooting assault rifles.. absolutely zero identity to any of it. Looked great, detailed, well animated, but had absolutely no soul.

What?! Dress-up crowd alert!

I’d be glad for one single androgynous character with one outfit that has random different stats each time you play. Your suggestion just has too much complexity in this aspect of the game.

While you jest .. hmm. "Random different stats each time" is a bit of a hard thing to imagine; you'd just reroll. But sure, take out the char sheet dolls, pick the assassin outfit for the 3rd person view (or any other armor with complete coverage). Wouldn't really change much at this point; not really anything for me.
