V2.5+ Survival Revival Dev Diary

@faatal seems alot of people are pressuring TFP to release 2.6
i wanted to give my thought on its release real quick,
after looking at the update history notes to the build and the previous posts about all the bugs being fixed, to me it just seems like there are to many bugs you folks are having to be dealt with atm.
so i propose you guys holding off on 2.6 release for another month or so to ensure all the nasty bugs are squashed.
Instead make a concrete ROADMAP FOR 2.6 RELEASE in 2 months.

thanks
So, if we feel it is ready today or tomorrow, we should just sit on it for two months? No thanks.

@Grandpa Minion
You're afraid of losing players because of bugs... :)Make a test server, I'm looking forward to it, although of course the online numbers are lower than yours... :)
I would not play an experimental if I was worried about bugs.

I'm not sure if anyone here can help, but I was just thinking of something...

Where's the @#&^%^$@^ %* &&%^% *( (&%$# #%^ %^$#* & ^%#$# % %^$ **&%$ Update 2.6 Experimental?

Just a passing thought. 😁 @faatal ? Anything you know that you want to share?
Sure. 2+2=4 and 2.6 localization was updated yesterday, which I think they were waiting on.

There aren't many people who need this. You can enable it; why clutter the new game menu with unnecessary options?

Why crop the screen so much? Both the computer and console screens have the same aspect ratio as the game image. Why cut off two-thirds of the image at the edges, turning the gameplay video into a keyhole view?
We lowly console players do not have the option to enable it, so it would be really nice if they added it for us, which it seems that Faatal said that they will be.

Uh, yeah, someone else already commented and answered your second question about aspect ratio, but that is how YouTube Shorts/Reels look. It has nothing to do with anything really.

What does the "Have a Cookie" reaction mean?
I have always viewed the "Have a Cookie" reaction as "You shared your opinion or statement. Good job. Whether anyone agrees or cares is unknown, but have a cookie anyway."

The cookie reaction is meant to be positive. It gives positive reputation when awarded. None of the reactions are meant to be used sarcastically though that won’t stop folks from doing so. None of them give negative reputation. The ones that are obviously positive give positive rep and the rest are neutral as far as rep is concerned.

From the context of posts I’ve seen with a cookie it always seemed like a sympathy prize.

Found a description:

"The cookie emoji (🍪) generally symbolizes a treat, reward, or comfort food, often sent to signify kindness, congratulations, or encouragement."

So guys, bring on the cookies, you know you want to... Right Jost Amman? 😁

Off of the topic btw, I wondered, are we gonna need to feed the chicks with some stuff as we do with bees, to produce eggs ?

I just noticed the 2.5 has been updated to 2.5+? Am I crazy or no

As IzPrebuilt surmised, I added the plus just in anticipation that this thread will also encompass any minor updates after V2.5, up to the next major, named update. V2.5 evolved into a more major update deserving a new thread, but given what is known about V2.6 it shouldn’t need a new thread.

What does the "Have a Cookie" reaction mean?

Well, it's not a "LIKE". It's more of a... Relax, Take it easy, move on, kind of thing. Same result as a "face palm" or "knuckle rub". Your message doesn't get a point from that reaction emoji.\
Speaking about that, there's a few "cookie monsters" here and it gets me so... But I digress! 😁 (probably getting cookies for this one)

It means different things to different people, and can even mean different things to the same person in different situations. That's why it can be so confusing. I originally didn't use it because of that, but I gave in and use it now and then. There are basically 2 ways to look at it, though you could probably break it up further if you wanted. First, it can be similar to the saying "Would you like some cheese with your whine [wine]?" In other words, you are being dumb, so have a cookie. Or perhaps a less negative view of "Have fun with your opinions; I don't really care." The other way of looking at it is more of a reward reaction.... "That's a good point, so have a treat." I just recently got a cookie from a TFP staff member after I offered advice on a support post. I'm going to assume that was the positive view of a cookie. ;)

The cookie reaction is meant to be positive. It gives positive reputation when awarded.
Really? Did that change with the new forum? I never see those numbers anymore, but I didn't remember it having any impact in the old forum. It was treated like a thumbs down before, IIRC.
