PC What else is planned for 2.0?

all that to say...it was a trust me bro? Just bs and nothing?

Eh, what? What trust? If you don't believe any word said here unless it conforms with your preconceptions then we are all liars anyway. If I say I could have modded it and you automatically disregard it why read my posts at all?

sorry, you do at least try to be polite, but, you are just as big of an apologist as these guys. You just say it nicer.

From your viewpoint we are apologists. But that is because
a) you are convinced of something that is only one of a few possible explanations, which we are not, and
b) even if it were true we don't care enough about it to make a big ruckus out of something that is almost as common as washing detergent commercials that promise shirts will be whiter than white.
Even if it were true I would rate dozens of things game companies have done much much worse than this.

From the viewpoint of Flat-Earthers everyone else is ignorant, doesn't make the earth flat though. From my viewpoint you are on a pointless crusade.
And I refuse to follow your lead just because you say we have to and insult us (slightly) with "apologists" or "angry fan nonsense".

They launched the game back to console with dates. they are not just a few weeks behind...that would be unreasonable. nope, they are almost a year behind on a schedule that was only 18 months long. they will be years late delivering this game. years.
This perspective is completely dependent upon your unique interpretation of when 2.0 is actually released. I knew and predicted from the very beginning when you first started posting that 2.0 wasn't done yet that this was your intention. 2.0 released in July which was 7 months late. Not a year. We've already gone around this merry-go-round so I know you are unwilling to accept the reality that 2.0 already released and that you will to your dying day insist that 2.6 when it finally arrives counts as the 2.0 release. That's fine but you are simply the victim of your own imaginings.

Perhaps my interpretation that 2.0 was 2.0 and 2.1 was 2.1 and 2.2 was 2.2 and 2.3 was 2.3 and 2.4 is 2.4 and 2.5 will be 2.5 is my own imagination as well but at least my imagination brings me peace and fun as I explore each new iteration. Yours seems to be bringing you anger and a game that is uninstalled on your system...

What's getting me truly irate, is the mindless defence of that and them.

See? Imagination and assumption of motive. You admit that the things that make you most irate are the unprovable intentions behind what people say and do. Anything you don't agree with must be mindless. Hubris and self-inflicted irritation. It's probably too threatening to entertain for one moment that people with a different perspective might be thinking and analysing.

But HammerD, your reaction is way out of balance, far too extreme, unreasonable.

Yes, if the game had been in development for 10 years and all they had to show for it was a single POI, then that kind of extreme reaction might be warranted. But come on bruh, there are many more things in life to be "that" upset over. Go take it out on the Zeds! 😉
i have stated this before, but, i will try to say it again, and hope it actually breaks through. The denialism has driven a lot of this, as you and some few others have noted, I have not been wrong about everything. It seems to be more of a dispute about how I said it. Take this thread as a microcosm, I am essentially getting "■■■■ you. they fooled you, they got your money'' as per below. I am getting THAT for acknowledging it's true...and using THAT as the basis to demand better communication.

Accountable? For being tooo optimistic on timelines when developing a computer game? :D get over yourself. Nah, that's all fine, only suckers would have believed the timelines to stand, anyway. I am very happy with the product, the communication, and what lies in the future. Of course I won't hold them accountable for being late, It's not like the owe me anything.
so to @meganoth I would say YES apologists...your answer says that even if you don't realize it. Being fine with the BS, you can't admit I am right about, because other companies of all stripes do it.

you proud of that? twisting ■■■■ up just to push past what was said? Storm's Brewing Update is not complete...2.0 and Storm's Brewing ARE synonymous, even you refer to it in that manner, the 2.0 dev blog treats it in that manner. Keep beating your own dead horse.

I love that last line...the irony. You really should have been a professional spin doctor.

I also love that you side stepped that it will be years late, with your 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 stuff, by saying 2.0 is only 7 months late...wouldn't that be right now? with the rest coming hopefully in Q1 2026? but, you know, don't count your chickens before they are hatched.
3.0 and 4.0 ...I have asked you before, are TFP going to get back on track? get those out in roughly 6 months a piece? we both know that won't happen. why not? could it be that they had to give ridiculously overly optimistic dates to get it back on the console platforms? they had to give dates...ones that people on this forum...hell in this thread have told me were obviously never going to be met? Tell me how it doesn't look like they are robbing Peter to pay Paul...someday, but, Peter has no right to know when that will be.

The thing that everyone one of you share in this thread is, (and I will say it carefully) you just don't care IF they lied about the road map dates. I do.
They did not need to sell this game to console on the premise that they were finally in the final steps of finishing the game. They ARE still imagineering the game...they really don't have a discernible sense of urgency. It will take years more to finish the game.

you just don't care IF they lied about the road map dates.
They didn't lie; they were mistaken.

2.0 and Storm's Brewing ARE synonymous
2.5 is just as much Storms Brewing as 2.0 is. SB isn't complete, 2.0 is. We're still waiting for 2.5. They might be interchangeable in some contexts, but asking if "2.0 is out yet" will get the response of, "yeah, last summer". Phrase it better and it won't.

i get why that's all you wanted to engage with from my last post.

Mistaken about what? that pre relaunch to console, the mountain of work they had, and still have, to accomplish was much smaller? Mistaken that they had suddenly gotten good at predicting how long it takes them to accomplish self imposed goals?
or
are you just lying to yourself?
did they only put out those dates to get more consoles sales? or was that a side benefit, from having to put dates on it, to get it on the console platforms?

when have I ever said that the 2.x's are not a part of 2.0 as a whole? that is literally what I have argued. add all of the 2.x's together and you get to 2.0 COMPLETE. It does matter that Storm's Brewing and 2.0 are synonymous terms...and no, if they are fixing 2.0 and the 2.x's from before the "town hall" then those updates were not complete...just the same as 2.0 or Storm's Brewing is not.

Let me try this from a different angle.

I agree with you, Hammer, that better communication would be something everyone would be pleased with. I’ve no problem joining in the request to give us more information more often.

I agree with you that it’s always good when we can get a timeline update like when Faatal clarified that 2.5 would come in December back when everyone kept wondering if it would be any day now. If such updates were more frequent I think it would be an improvement.

forgive me that I have some doubt this is an authentic extension of an olive branch. You've Lucy'd the football on me before.

Until they're delayed for a week, all of the whine ... :P
thought you were done with me until I learned to be nicer in an argument?

I have said this over and over, communication is not that complicated.
In their case:
1) stat what they intend, like "we intend to get 2.x out by early December" as a relevant example. (notice that they don't have to give specifics)
2) work towards that goal as usual
3) as you are approaching early December...figure out if you are going to meet your goal
4a) if you are...cool...meet it and set another goal...very nice
4b) if you are not, put it out across the socials, be realistic when estimating how long, if it is a harder nut to crack, reassure them you have other irons in the fire, it won't prevent some bitterness, but, it will show care....growth even.

Don't tell them this, but, they could even give themselves a sneaky little week before even putting out the next goal, just to give themselves more room.

They could even use the creator program to funnel news out in a more palatable manner...if they preferred to farm it out

point is...communication, especially about projects with many moving parts, needs to be simple and updated in a timely fashion, which, as I laid out, is not as hard as people can make it on themselves.

Guns Nerds and Steel would be a solid choice
Double G is ridiculously entertaining...love his news segments. (and for the record...he is also critical of how critical I am of TFP) doesn't change my opinion of him.
Really they have an abundance of choices...it helps them...it helps the creators (■■■■... starting to really like this idea)

thought you were done with me until I learned to be nicer in an argument?
Did I reply to you, or just made a funny towards Roland?
But hey, no unnecessary insults this time, nice.

What you describe isn't bad, it'd fit right in with an indie studio. I might like it. But TFP has always played their cards rather close to the chest, and I don't see much wrong with that either.

forgive me that I have some doubt this is an authentic extension of an olive branch.
Not an olive branch. I still whole-heartedly disagree with you on many points but I thought I would switch to agreeing with you where possible. That's all.

1) stat what they intend, like "we intend to get 2.x out by early December" as a relevant example. (notice that they don't have to give specifics)

I agree with all of this. It's a great system. If TFP were to adopt it, I would not protest. Nothing about this is unreasonable.

Has this thread run its course? We know HammerDano is upset that TFP did not stick to their dates in the Roadmap even though they stated that they are subject to change. Is there any value to continue arguing at this stage?

Has this thread run its course?
Will there be great revelations for the general public here? No.
Did we manage to wrangle a single almost non-angry post out of Hammer just recently? Yup. There might be some promise there.

So, for a general purpose, prolly no point in following this one ... ;)
