PC Well ... that escalated quickly!

You don't feel that that super bash and demolishers almost push you into using exploits?
Oh I understand why players would do this, but we won't. For one thing I hope and believe they will eventually fix the AI to remove exploits like this so it would be crazy to rely on it. If I was prepared to cheese it any way, I'd take the sitting on a large expendable POI route as that is even less effort.

Ewww. The cheese itself doesn't even upset me during this horde. What is disgusting is how ridiculously easy and boring this is. I can see having fun finding the cheese and showing it, but to play this long and use it why bother? First game in history where you stand still, aim in one direction and shoot. A 5-yr old could get through that.
As I hinted above, I think that video has maxAlive set to 8. That means 8 zeds at a time can be alive, which is why he's getting a nice controlled dribble of only a few zeds at a time coming up the ramp. Most of us play on quite a bit higher than that (I think?). I am also unsure what difficulty its on because the zeds are going down pretty easy, no evidence of the bullet sponges you get on Insane even if you head shot them.

Everyone has their own opinion of how the game should be. It is important to be open to other opinions and ways of playing. The ideal game can be adjusted and modified according to the player's wishes. 7 Days to die is not quite there yet but you can do a lot. When the official developer kit comes then you will be able to change many things that are currently not yet possible via XML Modlets.
The most successful streamer in Germany is undoubtedly Gronkh. However, he is not a very good player but he knows how to entertain people. One sucessfull streamer I like to watch is Coya. His fails are legendary and often the streams are hilarious. You often lie on the floor laughing. So it seems to me that successful streamers are more about entertaining the audience than about mastering challenges.
Well I'd have no interest in watching a player being clinically perfect at the game, being a super obsessed min-maxer who has perfected everything about their approach to it.

If I did I'd watch myself. :)

Absolutely, because satisfying the entertainment needs of people who watch someone play a faulty game is far more important than the entertainment needs of the people actually playing it.

Lots of truth there. The average player would probably have a hard time relating/connecting to a min/max player.

The way I see the streamer, it's about having a good time. It's not about mastering the biggest challenge. He fights the Horde, gets a some XP and talks to his viewers as well.
In my experience, players who are too ambitious can't entertain people well. A guy who is more relaxed has more success on Twitch because he entertains people.
It's definitely about entertainment. I'm listening to an audio book right now about how google sets goals and it was mentioned that statistically more people are likely to watch longer content how to video that entertains versus a shorter how to video with no entertainment....

I do not like those people, at all. If i am looking for information then I would prefer a short and concise article with pictures. But those are harder to find since youtube pays people. So instead I will take a short and informative video with a demonstration, I can replay it if necissary.

However money is now on the table for both the creators and youtube.

So we get a 30-90 minute "demonstration" with long stories and jokes and possibly a music video so I can dig through it and maaaybe find the facts I am looking for while my adblocker snickers. I appreciate the people in the comments who bother to mention where in the long videos you can find the important information.

I HAAAATE what the internet has become and I feel old, thanks. Thanks a lot.

Yeah no kidding. It shocked me at 1st. It goes to show you the internet has evolved into more than just a place to find information... probably in the same vein as why social media is so popular/addicting. Scary stuff...

Have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy? No one thought it at the time, but this world is slowly evolving to something very close to that.

I knew that the satyr was based on actual demographic statistics that were published not long before the screen play was written.

Three of us did the horde today, two of us have 2000 hours of 7 Days to Die, the other is a newb.

Day 49, we had the cheesy ramps, the arrow slit exclusion zones on two sides. We had already set the horde to only jog after seeing Day 35.

We had feral running radioactive bikers and cops + demolishers.

At some point they stopped doing the ramp, it wasn't damaged.

They stopped coming to the ground floor to hit on that.

They somehow were triggered into super bashing through iron spikes, a collar of steel, reinforced concrete and broke through into our basement, surging up from below. It happened so rapidly that they were on us before we knew what was even going on.

Two of us ran out of ammo, shooting into the bullet sponges.

We tried changing the settings, dumbing it down even more but since 18.2, we can't seem to change them. They revert to what they were before.

I think we are at the point of giving up. It just feels so ridiculous firing over and over with such little result into an unending stream of zombies.

Maybe you just need a new direction with your base design.

I found this. Seems promising, but it's going to take some work:

Effective but boring strat which has been around for ages. One could argue you dont even need to fight the horde with this strat.

I guess if you enjoy digging a hole to bedrock more power too you.

I don't get why this works. It is almost identical to my recent attempt at demolisher handling which failed. I mean seriously identical. However when I did this the zombies didn't fall into the hole. They simply walked around the lip of it and refused to fall/jump in.

Also these folks are on a very low maxAlive and very very low difficulty (1 Demolisher on day 77??). Just saying.

I dont think they only had 1 demolisher. Around the 8 minute mark they explain that zombies are running around on the surface, so they don't all drop down.

Fair enough. Different strokes for different folks then. When I tried an almost identical build and next to no zombies fell into the kill pit, I declared the base an abject failure and started again - reason being you are basically not engaging the horde just a tiny fraction of it. These guys instead proclaim it the best base build ever. Heh

I also found that funny. There was alot of commentary that they are tired about all the other video claims about the best/efficent bases to only find them lacking in some way...

...then the recorder shows off their big hole in the ground with a such a proud tone in his voice...😂😂😂

The effectiveness is without question...creativity on the other hand...🤔
