I think it is pretty universally considered rude to backseat directly to a person while they are in the process of doing whatever they are doing. Backseat Drivers are pretty much hated by all precisely because they make their comments directly to you WHILE you are driving.

Fair point. The difference here is that if there were no players, 7DTD wouldn't exist. These people wouldn't be able to make a living with something that doesn't generate enough income. So they have to listen and while I can't nor speak for everyone, it's clear that people have been frustrated for a while.

You could argue that there will always be people who are unhappy and being loud doesn't necessarily represent the majority, but this time it's clearly different. Good job for finally listening to and responding to the overwhelming amount of negative feedback. We'll see what comes of it.

Imagine having to wait 28+ days for crops to grow, check their water levels, water them, fight off insect pests...build a functional greenhouse...which we actually could do/should do in the game...

So rather than saying we can't dip a bucket in a river to get water, the devs should have given us more reasons to need water in the first place.

On the console legacy version, used to I would put a row of let's say corn down, then dig a trench next to that row, fill the trench up with a few buckets of water, add the next row of vegetables and then trench another row for water, it kept my crops watered and all I had to do after that was add the fertilizer every once in awhile.

Not sure about the 5.25 but I do know I have a box with 1000+ 3.5" in my attic and maybe a few here in my room.
Aquired quite a few over the years buying games/programs/demos, etc. Plus blanks I had bought to hold my personal data.
I am not sure if I have my old comp around somewhere with a floppy drive on it. I think my bro-in-law has one or two in an old storage shed he had so I could probably technically still use them lol

Good luck getting the data off them even if you have a floppy drive. I tried that years ago and only managed less than half. The rest was all corrupted from age, even on commercial disks from apps, games, etc. If I tried how, I probably wouldn't get 10% of it.

You could also argue that the majority of players are not loud and are quietly enjoying the game the Fun Pimps are in the process of making. A quick reading of the Steam charts indicates that something like 50,000 people play each day, through Steam alone. You are but a drop in the bucket (or jar).

I am sure I probably moved most (if not all) of it over to cd's and then to dvd's as storage changed. I don't think I would have just left it on floppies as my only back up.

No, we are just mostly a bunch of autists (I don't mean to assume, but I'm kinda getting those vibes reading some of this dialog) that are incredibly bothered with VERY unwelcome change. We make up a really large portion of the people that buy sandboxes. I also want jars back, as well as LBD, my rooftop farm to actually grow, 2-3 layered clothing to come back (I know that will probably need to be a mod), and proper weather effects again; I miss going out in a thunder storm and freezing to death... but getting rid of the stupid linear biome ■■■■ was defiantly a step in the right direction

Nah, I doubt it. With about 40k players on average lately, I find it hard to believe >20k are unhappy with the game. I believe it is a vocal minority of long-time players who are emotionally invested in how the game used to be. They tend to dominate discussions here on the forum because this is where long-timers hang out and because those who are not happy almost makes more noise.

Hum, numbers can be deceiving. For instance, millions of players bought the game, so if only, say 300k, still play the game, you could argue that most have dropped it and therefore, it's proof the game now sucks for the majority.
But that's not the truth, as many players stopped playing the game because they never liked it, or just don't have a computer anymore, or don't have the time, etc.
Anyhow, I'd be careful when invoking numbers, as they can mean what you want them to mean.

These very patch notes are changes players asked for to make the game feel more sandbox so I am not sure why you are complaining still.

It's way more than that. Steamcharts refreshes every 60 minutes I believe. Yesterday's peak was 49K at 8am. I played in the evening for a couple of hours when the number was around 31K. Very few people are playing in 24 hour sessions so even on a daily basis the range of 30K to 50K actually represents hundreds of thousands of people playing daily. And that is just on Steam and doesn't even count Playstation or Xbox.

Rick said in the dev chat a few weeks ago that a report from Steam showed that in the month of July 98% of players played version 2 and close to 2% played version 1. Less than 1% were playing older versions. Interestingly, Alpha 16 was played by less than 0.01% of the players who played during the month of July. Plus, of course, the console crowd are ALL playing version 2 because they must.

Most of the player population play whatever the current build is, don't post anything ever on any forum, and simply adjust to whatever the new normal is for the game. I'm glad that TFP is making these adjustments to their initial offering but whether they did or didn't the vast majority of players would just play whatever the Devs served them and despite all the negativity in message boards this past month, the numbers have shown that hundreds of thousands are continuing to play.

"You can't code". "You are lazy". "You better do x". "The game is dead". Says those who have never experienced a single day with us doing our job or know what our team has to deal with. I would love to have some of these people sit next to me for an entire day to introduce them to reality, but that is not practical. They would be bored anyway watching things like tracking down a bug or testing something over and over again.

Have you played for a while with the reduction? It may take time to see the change as any that were spawned in an area are in the save data, so you would not see less until they respawned or you entered an unexplored area.

Personally I would love to sit with a dev and play a old version with them too see there reaction.

Lbd? Don't want spam crafting? Ok make it something you have to invest into or find books but keep the combat skills and little bonus

Jars is the worst example just they had something and rather then change it up they just go all or nothing and just took them out.

But magazines aren't a BAD idea they are great for looting play styles but they suck in other ways because it's doesn't count other play styles. And some magazines imo are just worthless..

I don’t understand how, after several years in Alpha, and supposedly listening to their players, the very community that has kept this game alive— the developers can be so ignorant and arrogant as to completely ignore the community’s requests. They are utterly ungrateful. The only reason this game made it out of Alpha into a 1.0 release is thanks to the modders, who have been a crucial pillar preventing the barebones base game from dying, even though they seem to make it worse with every update.

They were doing great up until Alpha 16, but the developers’ arrogance ruined everything. This complaint isn’t new; it’s been around for quite a while, yet they still completely ignore the community that’s paying for this so-called “official” product (which doesn’t even feel official). They keep promising that bandits are “coming soon,” but keep postponing it to later versions. Why? Because they apparently aren’t even capable of developing something like that, perhaps they lack the experience or the skills.

Furthermore, they are excessively slow at developing, which is truly surprising. How is it possible that the small team behind the “Darkness Falls” mod can implement a huge amount of additional content that brings the base game to life, while the developers take years and years, and also force you to play exclusively in the way they want and nothing else? They are fkn arrogant, it's crazy.

I’m writing this as a software developer, and it’s clear to me they’re unable to listen to or even read what their community says. With all due respect: they’re idiots, and fkn slow.
