PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Yes, 3 years ago i said bandits where at least 5 years away back when even more pve players kept begging tfp to add them,
That leaves 2 more years...
and also, if they do come in next 2 years i would hope major bugs (which some of us been waiting for 10+ years) are finally fixed before they add bandits.
Overall, i feel tfp focusing more on bugs over the last couple months rather than bandits is a wonderfull and right thing for them to have been doing.

Oooooooooh!

You meant in 5 years from 3 years ago. In your post you said "the next 5 years" so I thought you meant from now but you meant the next 5 years starting 3 years in the past. Why does that not surprise me...

When things have calmed down, could you consider fixing these minor bugs, as well as the more annoying bugs in the game? These include zombies getting stuck in a crouched position, electrified zombies continuing to walk during Blood Moons, zombies not taking electrical damage during Blood Moons, certain glitches (including one I've already reported), a slight overall improvement to zombie gameplay, some AI tweaks, and, if I may dream a little, new zombie skins and new special zombies? 😂👌🥰💝

And perhaps rework some PvP mechanics and the old zombie skin?

And add the possibility of appearing in several different beds?

1) so, if they had put out unfinished crap THAT would have qualified as meeting the roadmap? that is weak...especially considering that I get yelled at for asking for better communication and the answer is "what...do you want them to put out buggy incomplete updates?" "are they supposed to crack the whip and force the staff to suffer?"

What I posted is just a "mathematical" proof that the timeline was always achievable if they had put their priority on meeting it.
You were arguing that because keeping the timeline was impossible it must be a lie. But if keeping the timeline is actually possible then that argument falls flat.

2) they could have met the goals IF they had not gotten side tracked so often? sounds an awful lot like an open ended development timeline attitude on their end.

As I said I don't know anything about internal happenings, unlike Roland who actually was listening in at their meetings. That they changed plans and added other stuff is just one likely hypothesis. That ideas they worked on didn't pan out like they thought (i.e. were not fun to play after trying them out) is another hypothesis that is (AFAIK) happening very often in game development.

the main reaction was not to the "town hall" the main reaction came before that...when people found out the "Storm's Brewing" had biome gating and NO STORMS. that seems like a pretty foreseeable reaction imo. Seems like most people on the forum shared that opinion. The reaction afterwards was to Rick blaming the community for their ■■■■ ups...for blaming "us" for delaying 3.0

No. Rick announcing the new features were delaying the development was exactly at that town hall meeting. And the town hall meeting came because of a youtuber making a video about nostalgic features like glass jars missing.

A long time before that, AFAIK even before 2.0 came out, there was discussion here in the forum about the storms feature being somewhat lame. And while that added a delay as well storms are already in the game for a long time and would not be a reason for delaying the game right now.

no offence but this has not a ■■■■ thing to do with this argument. specifically because you did not sell that promise of delivery publicly...and...because it has nothing to do with TFP or 7 dtd.

It shows that people can have a motive to set themselves ambitious timelines.

Back to THIS conversation. The inhabitants of this forum actively drive out dissenters. It has been pointed out many times. I am just stubborn enough to not GAF.
Not for nothing but this is a Public Forum...that acts as if it is only acceptable to be a fan first, second and third. Those inclined should start a private fan club...i promise you won't see me there. Hell, make it invite only.

You have been posting mostly opinions that were not shared by the majority of posters here and still are not. That you get a lot of counter-arguments is to be expected. Additionally, if you make aggressive posts you will get aggressive answers back. That this makes the forum subjectively unwelcoming to you is no surprise, but not by some nefarious design.
Shout "Weapons should be abolished" in a public place in Texas and you will feel unwelcome even if people might generally be still polite. Put up your middle finger as well and some replies won't be very polite anymore.

I would prefer to finish this argument with the person I was arguing with: not that you all are not free to chime in with your 2 cents.

it only looks like dog piling

Everyone has an opinion he likes to share. But you are correct, if you have an unpopular opionion and post it 10 times a week then all the counter-arguments look like dog piling.

I don't post on social media, do not want to and do not have access to it even if I did. Since the people who do post on social media did not say anything about 2.5, why would they post about it being released later? You can see the current focus of what is being posted.

The vast majority of people DO NOT READ anything on social media about their games. As the average player has dozens or hundreds of games, if they tried to keep up with posts about all their games, they would never actually play them. I spend about 0% of the time reading about my favorite games other than the news headline that pops up in Steam. What I care about is what is released for my games NOW, that I can play NOW, not some pipe dream about the future.

Yes, you asked about communication, but I don't think you will get anything different in the short term. We have a LOT of things going on at the company and like most companies, we don't spam out our internal day to day operating processes as those are private for many reasons. Just like every employee does not know every thought or plan going on at their company.

Forget the specifics of the roadmap. Once the first date was missed, everything would obviously shift and as time goes by, we will and do change our mind about what is best to release and when and we can because we did not marry the roadmap. That is why we put the disclaimer on it, because we know we may change our minds for whatever reason. Smells was not on the roadmap, but I have wanted it to return for years and I convinced people we could do it in a reasonable amount of work and we are. Others thought the same with apiary or a chicken coop or other secret features that are being worked on or planned.

Disclaimer: Everything I or other employees post on here is our personal opinion as the company can and may do something different from what we have said.
what a crock of ■■■■. any and every post from the 7 days is full of people saying "finish the game". Every post for Blood Moons has people saying "finish your first game" "not gonna support this until you finish the first one". A lot of people don't bother to go on the forum, but, they sure eat up any media about it. Every post for merch...same thing, "finish your game"...and "ship to other Countries".

YOU don't post on Social Media? you commented on one of my post YESTERDAY...and it was not a 7 Days to Die official post. If you meant you are not in charge of Social Media posts for 7days...and that you as a company do not co ordinate messaging...that I believe.

Why would/should TFP post about 2.5 being delayed? People are still waiting for the content that is coming because of the "town hall"...that thing that was supposed to denote that "you guys are listening". what a joke that is...listening but not hearing.

cue the defence of..."we heard and we made changes" ....except the part where people keep asking for better communication.

this site reminds me of an Ostrich with it's head in the sand. so many people on here want to pretend that there is no world outside of this site.

I understand that waiting patiently is not your strong suit, but you should really take notes from the noble Ostrich.

People are very uninformed. Most still don't know that Blood Moons was not developed by TFP.

-- More communication would be nice, but you're beating a dead horse for like the third-dozenth time. Do you think you're going to make it rise?

I can't think of any game team that was particularly good about giving dates, sticking to dates and delivering a good final product.. So I really don't care about the first 2 as long as when the updates come, they're good. Good luck nagging the team into giving more communication. I'm definitely 100% sure if they did if they started posting this stuff on social media, they wouldn't have a dozen people with your same enthusiasm complaining about missed deadlines when they inevitably happen (as they have with every game I bothered to watch go through the process).

Never stop posting - this was a very candid response which was needed.
