PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

My guess is 2.5 is going to be the new models, increase loot from storms and that's it maybe some QOL stuff

The temperature, coop and bee hive, storm changes and smell and JARS! are 100% going to be a 3.0 which sinks but at least its gonna be here
Jars, temperature, storms, smell, clothing, apiaries, and the zombie models are all being worked on actively right now. Some of that could be pushed to 3.0 due to unforeseen circumstances but the plan is for them to be in 2.x updates.
that really didn't clear anything up.

meh...I think it clears a little bit up. But then you only care about timelines and not so much about content and you probably thought I was talking to you. I'll do better about quoting the person I was actually talking to.

As to your question about when...

"No soup for you"

Idk it kinda does at least we know why 2.5 is taking so long
I must have missed that, I guess you could infer from his post that 2.5 is going to be massive, but, all we really know is that there's a lot of content that is being worked on...it's going to be pushed out apparently over at least two more updates (2.5 and 2.6...possibly more) and that they intend to get it out by xmas. it's all too vague.

It's only vague because you only care about it if it comes in MMDDYYYY format.

Its funny I was looking things up about pigs and holy hell I didn't realize how big some pigs can get. A farm raise pig is about 650 pounds. There's normal pigs and mini pigs

So realisticly hogs should be alot bigger or have at least different sizes tbh tho if I saw a hog the size of grace running at me in the wild I would have a heart attack.

"Hogzilla is the name given to a wild hog that was shot and killed in Alapaha, Georgia, on June 17, 2004. Alleged to be 12 feet (3.7 m) long and to weigh 1,000 pounds (450 kg), scientists confirmed that Hogzilla actually weighed 800 pounds (360 kg) and was between 7.5 and 8 feet (2.3 and 2.4 m) long."

Cant find images of it anymore but it was huge! The hunter used a 50caliber Smith and Wesson model 500 Revolver...it took 9 shots when the last headshot finally took it down...

There's still a photo of Hogzilla on wikipedia.org
I'm not posting it because it's a dead animal.

I think its suppose to be 2.5 then 3.0 but I could be wrong
I think that's unlikely. With everything they are trying to put in before 3.0, even if everything gets into 2.5, you can bet there will be bugs that can't wait until 3.0 to fix, so I would expect a minimum of 2.6.

I'm also not going to hold them to the "yes" that it would all be done before Christmas. It's TFP after all. I'm sure a lot will be ready before then, but it's only 2 months. The last we heard, storms had a lot of work left, and that's just one thing being worked on. But we'll see. I'll be happy if they surprise me and have it all in before then. But I won't be upset or surprised if they don't. :D

It is a result of how they and many other developers (probably) work though you only have a chance to notice it in EA development.
They work in parallel on multiple features. All features then get piped to the testers who try to find bugs. Any day new bugs could turn up, some of them negligible, some of them serious. A serious bug would mean the feature who looked like a release candidate could be relegated to work in progress again. Whenever they think they are ready for a new release, they probably have a meeting and decide which features can be included and which are too buggy.

There could be features they are perfectly sure will be in a release, and on the day of that meeting a bug could turn up and it would have to be removed from the release again or the release postponed.
And I suppose that is the reason they are reluctant to state if any of the features are ready or not, or give times. There were cases in the past where they had to drop features again and it wasn't well received by some players. So they are kind of paranoid about it.

I think it is a bit of an overreaction because the current method isn't well received either, but both ways have disadvantages and the decision is theirs how to manage the information.

I guess you and @Roland both missed the part where I was asking WHAT CONTENT would be coming with 2.5...2.6...or is not coming until 3.0. No dates requested. TFP are the ones who said the town hall stuff was coming before xmas. I just was curious what is being put off until 3.0...like the Mummy and Yeti...when are we getting them? (and by that I meant 2.5, 2.6, 2.x or 3.0....not dates.

there's a laundry list of things that are coming soon(tm)...and by soon, i mean that TFP made a blanket statement about this stuff being done by xmas. Which could only mean it will be in the game, or far more likely, would be out in experimental over xmas break.

I don't know how TFP "plan" to release a .x update. But, I have laid this out before: state what you intend, amend if necessary as the release date gets closer. I appreciate that they try to get the bugs out before experimental...but is that not the point of experimental releases? to catch bugs?

I get that they have had a rocky past...I have been hoping that they have learned from it. They have implied that they have learned from it. But, here we are. ( they really should hire a professional communicator to help them )

I'm not asking for perfect, I am asking for them to show they have learned from the mistakes..while still allowing them to write in pencil, so they can use the eraser when needed, because, communication can be a work in progress and change rapidly. There's still 3.0 and 4.0 to go...that's potentially a looooooong time still to go, at this pace...what has changed from the Alpha system? it looks like it will STILL take between a year and a year and a half, per, for 3.0 and 4.0. and I am not allowed to be mad about that? or expect better communication?
should I just write off TFP as a bad investment? as a company I should never do business with? because that is the attitude I get. That I am being unreasonable...not, that they, should be trying to be better on the business/management side of things.
