PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

IMO re: Jars i really have no dog in this fight. Early game when jars were a thing i would end up with a million jars of water . . . and later on with dew collectors early game i end up with millions of jars of water.
Basically imagine the murky water you find now drastically reduced in loot and replaced by empty jars and dew collectors are impossible to craft during the first few to several days depending on your luck with Forge Agead mags.

It’s a lot better, imo.

I was against the return of jars and disliked every mod I tried that returned them. But the way TFP did it works great for me and I’m actually always happy to find an empty jars in loot and would never consider throwing any away (at least during the early to mid game)

The most important thing to remember is just like as in pvp vs pve i would say single player vs multiplayer is in the same boat,
Sp/Mp was just a simplification of each of the aspects from both camps pve and pvp
would be a part of the multiplayer. Personally I have no aversion to either one, as long
as players enjoy themselves and respects the opinions of other players. TFP is just between
a rock and a hard place of their own making. If they had just settled for making a cloned POS
game format, there would have been no problem.

But for me it goes beyond being a basic game, for me it is also a tool for my own edification, and
I am constantly learning. The thing with this tool is I get to see visually how my thoughts play out
rather than hypothesizing.

A tool it is created with a specific purpose, often coming with instructions, but once a person
buys a tool, they are going to use it the way that they want to anyway. That's just reality.

The prior post was just an alternate possibility. When I mod I have archives, txt notes, alternate
named folders images and more, in the default directory structure and my games have not whacked
out yet. It is a suggestion not just to quell, dissension, but inclusions, just like the above pve pvp rulesets,
I also was thinking about console inclusion.

@DED-EFIM

The weakness was the initial thought. Apocalypse, makeshift gear, since it is not being
made in a production factory. Should be weak, and only marginally reliable, and should
break. Needing replacement parts, not just more duct tape, because of the weak cohesion.
Like swimming through water, with a weapon in your belt, that has duct tape, should have
a chance to fall apart.
But over time reading posts, I just thought naaah I will just do stuff like that for myself.

But you have to admit, honey glue is something of a perversion... in fact, the recipe for bone glue is quite normal

But you have to admit, honey glue is something of a perversion
Yes, but I odd mod. Then play through to see the effect. Example: a lot of people
don't like dark nights, so I kept working at it until I caused random mid day eclipses, and I have
no random torches and candles burning anywhere in the map, I just replaced them with
air blocks. For me playing with the honey, basically meant don't get hit. It is a needed
resources, but so is glue, so lowering glue simultaneously increased my dependence
on chopping every stump I see and fighting every bee.

Change the environment change the rules of engagement.

I use simple changes, to make things inconvenient, because inconvenience for me in a game
makes for a more immersive play through.

So where in that case empty gas cans?

Who cares? That's the point. All that matters is the gas is a consumable and the packaging that contained the gas doesn't exist whenever the gas doesn't exist. You just fill up your motorcycle and go and don't really think about not having an empty gas can. If you could just make that same leap with jars and water you'd be golden. I mean you've made that leap with gas canisters, acid containers, stew bowls, candy wrappers, food cans, and syringes for years now without complaint or batting an eye. Why do jars trip you up so badly?

We made several more bug fixes and adjustments. All features are merged and we are making test builds now. I plan to start a new game tonight as my last test game was on trunk and has a 3.0 version, so time to try a not agility build on a small RWG map.
So @faatal
Are you saying that the 2.5 EXP release is happening at any moment? Hours? Minutes even? (ok, maybe not minutes)

I might be 65, but I always feel like a kid on Christmas eve when a 7 Days to Die update is about to be released... Can you blame me? 😁

That all depends on testing. It will take some days. I see one bug fix that was merged after the build, so another build with that and I know there is Rancher dismemberment xml/art that is being finished.

My testing has been fine. Food is being challenging this time around instead of water, which was the worse of the two last game.

No u di...unt. It had been peacefully laid to rest for a while now
and it had reconciled itself to the long dirt nap, an u hadda dig
it bak up like a grave robber. "its done when its done"😂

If time depends on the perspective of the viewer.
And the perspective of the viewer depends on their
psychological disposition. And their psychological
disposition depends on time. Doesn't that cause the
the loop that has been happening recently.
maybe its time for for the psycho viewers perspective to be disposed

@faatal
Has there ever been any discussion, about facial expressions for the traders
in the future? If they do decide, ask if they can mocap Martha Harms
signature expression. Just to immortalize them a bit for the work they
put in.

I agree, I am surprise that so much is discuss for Empty Jars, I don't miss them, If I got them as item it is okay, if not then it is okay. If we want to make little more realistic, then having jars and cans is good. but each Jar can be used for Petrol/Gas but then it might spill some if not proper container (or recommended) or might lose some like that has to be added as well. So you can use make shift container but it has lose with it, or use proper container designated for that resource and it will be 100%. If we can introduce that feature than I support having empty jars or container else they are just useless.

Here's an idea...the smell from rotten meat should not attract zombies. IN FACT, it should help MASK the smell that zombies like. Remember the Walking Dead when they covered themselves in zombie guts so they could walk amongst the zombies and not be detected?

Well, you could say that those were specifically zombie guts which might contain some element that keeps zombies from becoming cannibals (remember, zombies aren't cannibals because they don't eat other zombies). That's understandable but even still, why would zombies be attracted to rotten meat either way? Rotten (dead) meat is kinda the antithesis of a zombie's desire.

I'm concerned, and so are many other players; you can see for yourself how many posts and comments people are leaving on this topic. People have asked for glass jars to be brought back, but no one has asked for them to be brought back in a format where they disappear after use. Ultimately, this change has only irritated a huge number of people. I'm happy for those who don't care, but I really dislike this kind of conditional change for the sake of balance.
