I woudn't agree about Pardox game - there are even guids which DLC are necceseary - i'm not into Paradox yet usualy they games are very bare bone during release then pretty much some of their DLC are must have + there are subscribtions for DLC

Modding is possible for Deep Rock Galaxy which is live service game.

Well : dlc outfit = for me sounds like typical Life service element. For example - CoD skin bundle  are sold as DLC becauise... of Steam reasons.

What about events? Well - it's not crucial:  Cod Ghost if i good remember didn't have any events yet had tons of skins to buy.

So : while we can make disscuse about definition yet - for me you have two "types" of game - classic ones like Lord of the ring battle of middle earth or darkest dungeon : finished game or 1 or 2 expansion and you know it will be "complete" at some point in close future and live service game - a lot of planned dlc/ microtransations and nobody know when it will end - HOI, Patch of Excile

yet:

outfits dlc? this in step into @%$#ty direction like Call of Duty or Dynasty warriors.

I doesn't mind expansion packs: yet - if they at first add outfits it's bad sign. Plus this Spinoff which looks like f2p mobile game. i think that TFP starts to follow TB patch which is realy bad ( check NMRIH2 situation)
No, Paradox isn't live service.  Those are just DLC.  The fact that the base games have minimal features compared to what the games have if you have all the DLC doesn't change that.  You can play the base games without ever buying a DLC if you want to.  I have played a variety of these and although they are better when using DLC (at least some DLC), they play just fine without the DLC.  DLC are optional.  A live service game may have optional DLC (such as cosmetics -- WoW pets and mounts, for example), but those aren't why the game is live service.  The game is live service because of either a subscription model or a model where you have to purchase things in order to play and/or complete a game.  Basically, you have to keep paying to play.  Even if 7D2D added a ton of DLC, we could keep playing the vanilla game (or modded game) without ever buying a DLC.  That isn't a live service model.

And, no... the number of DLC doesn't turn a game that isn't live service into one that is.  You don't go from a game not being live service with 5 DLC to one that is live service because they now have 6 DLC, for example.

Now, if you want to complain about games having a ton of DLC... that's fine.  But they aren't automatically live service games.  You can drop that phrase rather than trying to use it as an argument and instead just complain about DLCs in general and you argument would be fine.  You just can't use some phrase people don't like (live service) and apply it to an argument that isn't about that phrase as a way to "improve" your argument.  It'll just make your argument invalid.  It would be the same as complaining about subscription based games when talking about a game that is free, but has microtransactions that feel required in order to play the game.  Both mean you pay money regularly, but subscription is required and microtransactions are not, even if they feel like they are required.  So you can't call a game without a subscription a "subscription based game" just because it has microtransactions.  Use of proper terminology is important.

Now that enough time has passed with Version 1.1... i am submitting the order for the current build to be moved to 1.2 STORMS BREWING branch for all players to enjoy.

EXPECTATION:

A) Version 1.1 moved to Version 1.2 STORMS BREWING branch immediately

B) All players STEAM, XBOX AND PS5 TO BE immediately combined to one branch to increase overall population of all servers

C) An update notice sent to this forum notifying everyone when this well happen

As an active long time player of 7d2d with over 25000 hours logged... i hereby place this order effective immediately.

DLC is not live service game, it is content that can be downloaded for the game to enhance a player's enjoyment if they desire.  Live service games are setup to constantly change / update content to monetize transitions.

One thing many folks forget too is that DLC doesn't necessarily mean paid DLC. All DLC stands for is "Downloadble Content."

Kind of demanding, don't you think?  You can demand all you want, but it won't change how quickly they do things.  And your number of hours doesn't make any difference.

Random offtopic thoughts. about q4, storms brewing

I just realized something about Blood Moon's. Its a combination of
Romero's dawn of the dead billboard, and Land of the dead. The thing
I like that was actually an unliked attempted feature was a smart
zombie. The scout is at least smart enough to call for backup, but,
dumb enough not to get out of harms way. But that seems to be the
limit of acceptability.

Console Inclusion Curiosity
For crossplay, is it limited to Cookie sheet maps in the worlds folder?
How will mods be used, as serverside downloads? They can't use dmt or a
mod loader, or xml edits or modsinfo directory or appended assets.
Consoles don't have a user directory structure, like pc. So will it be strictly
vanilla? Or are there plans for a secondary download of sorts and an
alternate directory structure to allow them the full experience?

Regarding the mode of DLC release and delivery and which direction the game
may take.
Wouldn't there need to be an overhaul of network or server services
in order to accommodate the massive throughput of data? I mean for gameplay,
not download. Presently this limits the game to a MORPG vs MMORPG. That would
make it a bit impractical to pass Gass, and as Meganoth pointed out,
they can't presently pass Gaas without offending a majority of players.
Either way I eagerly await the crossplay, and will purchase DlCs if they are

available.

The little that has been mentioned about consoles and mods was that it was up to negotiations with Sony and Microsoft.  The chance of mods that are not server side is almost zero.  The chance of server side mods is somewhat low (my opinion), but possible.  It depends if they can get that approved.  Since those are really no different than sharing maps, it could be possible.  As far as maps, they will be able to access random maps as well, and are getting RWG.

I don't know what you mean about more data needed.  Multiplayer in this game isn't really any different from any other game.  Most data is local.  You are just sending positional data and such back and forth.  Only the initial download of the map and game settings (including server side mods) is larger.  And server side mods are just XML, which isn't large.  For DLC downloads, it wouldn't be different from any other game with DLC, so not exactly a problem

I was talking about the potential for the expansion to MMORPG, Is it the server

protocols or RIP or packet transfer that presently limits larger quantities of users?

It would no longer be just the processing client side because of the advanced hardware

now. So is all video processing client side? What sort of server specs would need to be met

to cut out some of the lag. example: myself and my friend 10 minutes apart, same isp different

gateway of course, using the server to play at midnight-ish on a work day. Rubberbanded and

moonwalked a lot.

Are you demanding this to be done without even an experimental build? With that much time in the game you think you'd know how things work by now...

EDIT: Oh, and can we get the Temu spam bots removed, please? Haha.
