PC Things TFP removed ... and you wish they hadn't

Not being able to combine items anymore. I always liked that, now I have to spend points in int just to craft a tier 6 item.

the trees

all of this realy:

stump loot

crazy explosives

craft to improve quality

massive wandering hordes

wandering npcs (i know thats a mod, but the uma removal nerfed it)

combining at a workstation

drink buffs

food buffs

canned food being safe to eat (i get sick 100% of the time eating canned food)

pills

bandages

how food actually filled you up (I've got to eat 20 or 100 of anything to make a dent in my health/food)

smell

being able to heat your base with a forge or campfire

being able to escape desert heat by tunneling down or going inside/shade

all the missing paintable textures (there wasnt enough before, now its just silly)

learning through schematics (why cant we have both schematics and perks?)

water (its almost nonexistant on rwg) (why do we need the swim perk? for those random swimming pools?)

log spikes

steel upgrades

stainless steel upgrades

corpses (there is no fear of looting while a horde runs, the loot is just captain obvious and rarely even worth opening)

e to harvest

books (again.. because part of cooping a base was deciding who read what first)

poo (and fertilizer)

running up ladders

the old noises

other player sounds

giant caves

birch trees (i love the new oak and pine trees, but i miss birch and maple, they added color variety to the game)

mostly i miss the plains that stretched on for miles. they reminded me of where i grew up and were oddly comforting to live in despite the sweltering heat. I'd often park my base straddling plains and another biome just to enjoy the spectacular golden views. I screamed when i discovered they were removed. WHY THO! I feel homeless now.

Scary atmosphere and mood music.
Now it's like Cabela's Big Game Hunter, but with zombies.
agree...

the atmosphere is completely f**ked up.

Are you a mind reader? Saved me a lot of typing.

I will figure out how to get them back in the game. As I was reading through the blocks last night i discovered plains grass, birch trees, and oak trees were still in the game. they simply commented them out. So now i am learning how to edit the biomes and rwg, because i want my home back.

One hit stones with a pickaxe.

Since then i nearly only use augers.

Decent large maps, the inability of maphopping (no 600 slot vehicle storage possible) together with the current micro maps of 8x8 made me stop playing 14 days ago

Explosions are getting some love. They are not currently what TFP wants them to be and they do know that they need to be more impactful.
that's great! honestly I hate seeing things in game that have no purpose in the zombieverse. I get that game stages will render some things less useful, or certain play styles will impact this, but there's a whole slew of food, buffs, and damagey-things that ... just don't have a place or are always so weak compared to everything else ... that you use everything else. lol.

I can two hit and the auger burns too much fuel. I used to be pure auger, now I think it's just a pain in the arse.

I miss the drink effects.... but the thing I miss THE MOST was the sound of footsteps. Crouching and hiding while all those footfalls went whispering through the grass and you knew a horde was pathing nearby was terrifying.

Biomes:

I would rather get rid of the "wasteland" (not realistic outside a nuclear war scenario) and "burned forest" biomes, and replace them with a second forest (nordig: birch, pine, aspen, scrubs) or ("deep forest" with much darker tree coverage and fog), and a second desert type, or a swamp area.

Also some texture for bright sandy beaches and blue water would be nice. Water is totally underused in the game.

Adding new biomes doesn't necessarily has to be difficult. As i see it just pick temperature range, what ground it has, what plants and trees and define types of POIs.

EDIT: Unless you add new assets like trees, plants and other objects.

There is an asset limit in the end (textures, models). So rather use the assigned biome assets for the best possible results.

And the wasteland and burned forest biomes dont really add as much as other types of biomes could. They feel too much "Fallout" inspired.

The type of apocalypse displayed is not really a nuclear war scenario, and more of the pandemic outbreak type.

What about things you miss that were never in the game?

I miss the ability to plant birch trees. Where I live there are plenty of them. I would love to have a huge droke of birch trees around my place.

You could even plant both blueberries and snowberries, simply add the recipe for obtaining them, as well as planted crop blocks.

You could also use up existing assets, but add a color tint (if it works, it works) to make more distinctive trees, blocks, items and not add new models and textures.

Considering there are tons of mods, i rarely see new biomes added...

Bring back Hub Cities. We've spent many hours trying to raid the hub city, especially during early game stages. Death came fast and easy, but the loot was worth it.

The skyscrapers introduced in A16 were too OP. By the time you finished raiding the book store tower, you have just about every schematic you would ever want, and it really wasn't that difficult.

I'm waiting to see what A17 RWG is going to be like assuming they don't put off the fix until A18. In the meantime, I've given serious thought to going back to A 15 or A14 just for a playable RWG.

I miss:

Gun Parts - or at least a meaningful end game where there is still something worth looting for beyond Bones.

Wellness - or at least a meaningful death penalty. Related to this I'd love a reason to craft foods other than Bacon and Eggs.

Learning by Doing - much more immersive and makes sense over mining for a day then becoming a better swimmer

Blue Prints - or at least something RNG that you need to go out and search for and the lack of which greatly affects gameplay. Right now, everything is too predictable because of the perks and replayabilty is diminished.

Cops - OP makes a good point in this section. Part of why I cite A17 as the easiest alpha ever. Other than Irradiated Spiders, the threat of all the top tier enemies is gone. Cops are zero threat now, when I used to really fear them. Even on high difficulty, zombies die far too easily when players are powered up. Screamers especially need a huge HP boost as currently they insta-die on Iron Spikes, rendering them ignorable and harmless.

Wandering Hordes - used to be more frequent and more significant. Now they are almost always rare, small and made up of harmless grunts.

Wow... I'm really surprised the game has changed this much. I'm just a lowly console player who has been enjoying this game for a year or so now but decided to come check out the forums to see what all has changed since the console port probably won't be updated for a long time, if ever at all. It sounds like everything that I know to be 7D2D is pretty much nonexistent at this point on PC.

So my serious question, is it still fun? I'm on Day 57, having set up a fortified concrete bunker near a gas station in Navezgane near the northern edge of the forest where it just barely butts up against the frozen/winter biome area. My days are spent out in the forest on my minibike running over game animals for meat to bring back for meat stew, while my nights are spent as of late down in my ever expanding mine repeatedly breaking and fixing my auger for more iron and lead. I'm really enjoying the game but a few things mentioned in this thread are crazy to think about like my massive beverage farm setup for drinks that apparently aren't great or don't exist anymore? Cops terrify me when traveling to Perishton to loot the power plant. And now you can't combine items to repair or improve them?

Sorry not trying to sound like I'm bagging on the game especially not with my first post here, but is the game still as fun as it used to be for those of you on PC? Because reading all of this is making me hope that the console ports never get updated... I can live with crashing once every hour or so.

I find the game much better. Many here complain about a myriad of things - most notably LBD going away - but overall it has certainly improved a lot IMHO.

@orn, best advice is.... dont listen to everyone bitching and complaining... thats just some people wont accept changes... when the game is finished and time slips by... they will be playing game and bitching about the next version... we cant stop them :)

but just try the game out for yourself and with an open attitude... a17 has far more to offer then what you had in console. after you have tried the new navezgane and rwg after its fixed (yes it is getting the work it needs), then you can try different mods to see if it spices up YOUR game.

dont follow the crowd... you were not born a lemming... enjoy the game for yourself. :)
