PC Things TFP removed ... and you wish they hadn't

I agree with the sentiment of excitement in finding schematics that haven't yet been learned, as well as high level items. To an extent, mods have filled the void a little. It feels like the balance of what you can make versus what you can only find is off. I can make a 4x4 truck and a glass jar, but no beaker? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you can't make the beaker. However, I would rather find items that seem complicated to craft than just make them. Right now you can max out your intelligence and make practically ANYTHING. I've found that I'm happier playing with the self-imposed restriction that my char is a DA and has to find guns/auger/chainsaw/vehicle parts and can't make them. Although, finding vehicle parts has been extremely rare. Since the motorcycle is my favorite vehicle, I can't help but make that one. It would be nice to still find schematics in order to repair and mod tools/weapons/armor and put vehicles together from parts you found and repair/mod them. Also, it would be nice to increase the chance of finding vehicle parts as you level up, using the level gates as a guideline as to when parts should be available, but always have a super slim chance to find parts of more advanced vehicles. Maybe reset the chance percentage when the vehicle is put together or lower it again when better vehicle parts should be found (I play single player and don't need more than 1 complete set of motorbike parts - but multiplayer would probably need a different algorithm so everyone could be able to get one).

After putting in more hours into A17, and played with my sister (completely new to the game), I can confidently say that this has been the worst version since Alpha 1. So many things missing, so many balance issues and so much boring grind, ridiculous. Even something as simple as the "q" button which dropped currently equipped item to the ground, what happened to that? Randomly placed landmines and fall traps that make no sense what-so-ever, not being able to take a "piss" without first having to waste a skill point and learn how to do it cuz... dev logic. Even something as basic and simple as collecting snow feels like an absolute grind because according to devs, snow is difficult to collect and requires tools and time to collect it. Being hit by a zombie can pretty much renders your character useless and guaranteed dead which is retarded and completely discourages the use of melee weapons (especially when combined with stutter / game performance issues).

There's so many flaws and missing features and balance issues, I could write pages worth and still not list them all.

At what point did the devs listen to feedback and manage to come up with this dumb version of the game?

I'm all for making a game difficult (especially since I used to play on highest difficulty settings in past versions), but doing it the lazy way and force it onto us with no sense of balance or realism... no thanks.

I kind of miss making special frames and then scooping handfuls of rocks to make cobblestone blocks. Upgrading flagstone into cobblestone isn't quite as uniquely interesting.

I won't argue against your whole opinion but I do have to say that I routinely get a stack of snow every time I start a game anywhere near snow and making a stone shovel and digging about six times or so gives me all the future water I need and is simplistic to get done. I objectively don't see a problem with snow collection early game and am confused by this particular gripe.

The rest is debatable :)

So if you have to move snow from your driveway, you do that barehandedly?

Moving snow in the real world needs either some tools (snowshovel) or at least proper gloves, as you can attest when having to move it from a cars windshield .. not fun if you forgot your gloves and there is a nice thick ice crust.

I didn't know stone shovels existed, so my bad on that one I guess. But realistically, how would a stone shovel be any different than a stone axe?

Also, I was wrong about loot all button, it does exist, they just forgot to mention it in the controls menu.

I also started a new save file and went with Navezgane this time and all of a sudden, everything is much easier now (a lot less zombies to deal with and they seem to do a lot less damage now). Game settings were all identical to last game, just different map. Strange... or glitch?

As a Canadian, depending on the kind of snow you're picking up, using your hands can actually be quicker and even easier than any shovel as shovels have a really hard time picking up large chunks or heavy chunks depending on the type of shovel. And while I agree plastic snow shovels make the job a lot easier (mainly long term, and this game does not have snow shovels, just spades which really suck for picking up snow) and not hurt bare hands from the cold if without gloves, it is possible to move a lot of snow by hand (rolling it for example). In this game, trying to get snow with your bare hands is just hilariously dumb.

I miss the caves (but I do not miss the wight zombies chasing me inside said caves) but I can live without them and appreciate that they have performance issues.

I miss some aspects of the learning-by-doing progression system (but like aspects of the new perk-based system too).

I miss learning by doing and books

The times when cities were actually dangerous at your early days and filled with zombies (not sleepers)

Gun parts, because now you get your guns pretty early and I usually skip my "bow age"

Wellness system, because now there is no difference in what you eat or drink

Old item level and quality drop on repair

There is for sure something else I miss, but i don't remember for now

I miss.....

- The biker pants that looked awesome

- The biker Boots

- Pink Dye actually being awesome Pink instead of the washed out version it is now.

- Short Barreled Shotgun

- Some of the old paint designs

My character is wearing the biker pants and I'm pretty sure I've found the biker boots, though they are a fairly rare find. The shotgun can be modded with a short barrel to give the short barreled effect.

I wish they had not removed the fun learn-by-doing based skill progression in favor of the generic, flavorless exp based progression.

I wish they had not removed the fun of exploration by removing recipe books, gun part quality, and vehicle part quality.

I wish they had not removed the fun of base building with the laser-guided, bunker-busting zombie AI.

In summary, I wish they had not turned the game into a bland, generic, grindfest by removing so many interesting parts of the game that made it worth playing for more than a day or two.

i miss large bodies of water. some of them before were ridiculously big and there was little or no way to cross them, i dont miss that. but now i only ever find tiny little puddles really. i really like having lakes or rivers around. i dont always want ot use nasty swimming pools ar snow for my water supply. i also miss being able to blow off kneecaps with the shotgun. maybe im just not high enough level with it yet, i dunno. but my favorite strategy before was to blast off their limbs and then go for the head shot while they were on the ground. im not a terribly good shot so this was a good strategy for me. i can live with it, i just miss it
