Subquake's Undead Legacy

Get over yourself. Most of the posts from Sub have been him saying he hoped he would have it out by then, so unless I missed a post somewhere where he made a promise to have it out at a certain time, you should just relax. Go play something else. Stop bringing useless and unneeded negativity here. Sub owes you nothing. Even if he literally made a pinky promise directly to you that it would be out by the end of the year, he has no binding obligation to fulfill that promise. There's no contracts here. The whiners in this thread are the types of things that make modders quit. Stop contributing to that.
Reread my post again - Don't make promises you can't keep! You can continue to wait until the end of your days.

This is the end of the discussion.

When you start dialogue on a public forum, you lose the ability to say 'ok, it's over now because I say so'. You can only decide to concede your point because you no longer feel it's worth arguing for. Is that what you're doing?

I was kind of okay with grind for upgrades, like its a late game motivator and such. But having it being random and encountering few unlucky streaks with tons of resources wasted I started genuinely hate it, it started to feel disrespectful to my time. Please tweak it to be less grindy in some way. (Yes I know I can tweak it just for myself in configs)

If you know you can makes the changes you want for yourself, why ask sub to change his mod to do it for you? And if you feel the mod as-is is "disrespectful" of your time, either do the changes yourself, or don't play it.

FFS what is with you people..

A lot of people have given feedback about the feature not being fun (I agree) and I am looking into either fully removing that idea or ways to counter the fail chance through some gameplay means.

I agree with Sa-Matra. I got a super high level mining tool early game last play through, which was obviously great, but it sort of felt kind of cheap. Like if I never played the mod before, I'd just have used that tool and never progressed normally as intended. Idk. Needs tweaking and I'm glad Subquake is looking into solutions.

If you agree that it's not fun, why keep the feature?
I haven't played UL for a long time (last time was september 2022), but as far as I remember, upgrading a good quality item to a higher one cost a lot (30 acid, 30 military fiber, etc.). And that's one item. And you have: weapons, armor, tools... + imagine if you play more than one player?
What I want to say: the chance of failure could be removed, given the number of ingredients, I don't see any imbalance in this.

And more resources you get by their activity
Not necessarily.... I don't know how everyone plays, but we usually go together as a team (the "Leader" perk hints at this), and the loot in quest buildings doesn't change from this.
+usually someone is busy with construction and gardening, and doesn't go for loot.
Of course, if you intentionally go for some resources, splitting up, then - yes, there will be more resources.

Not necessarily....
If you go as a team then you can clear more faster, and a result complete more quests per week. For example I played with teammate, i do all the fighting stuff and he dismantel/loot everything. As a result we make 2 tier 5 quests per hour. With all good stuff from poi.

So you don't spend time for doing this. When you play solo you need to spend time for building, farming by yourself that results in less loot per week.

Just wanted to say that I play UL with my GF, v20.7, and we are having a blast!!
Thank you for your hard work and effort.

One suggestion, something I find weird, is getting the same XP for shared kills. I know this is not UL specific, but I feel like the killer should get more, aka shared xp should go 2/3 vs 1/3. But whatever, that's small potatoes.

Quick question, I have just started playing again and I am having some really bad lagging issues.  This is on single player.   I love this mod and I cannot play without it now, the vanilla experience is just awful.  The question I have is that the game will randomly lag with the latest release of this mod.  I don't remember the previous mod release having as much trouble but it has been awhile since my last pc crashed so I may be a little fuzzy.  Is that a known issue, or are there things I can do about it?  I have tried tweaking graphics and I have most world options at or below recommended but it does not seem to matter.  Not complaining at all, just really want to play this until released for 1.1 but it only takes about 15-20 min before it lags so bad it is unplayable.  I just purchased the PC I am using less than a month ago so not a hardware issue.  Anyone that can respond would be appreciated.

Have you tried using OCB Startup Optimizer on Nexus? I've had good results with it, but backup your files first. Apparently it helps with RAM issues as well as load times, and it does sound like you're running out of memory somewhere. If that doesn't work then lower all graphics options including the dynamic mesh to potato and slowly increase one at a time until you find what's causing the problem. It might even be a program running in the background.

Thank you for that tip.  It is a little better but still has some issues.   The weird part is that the issues are not from Blood moon hordes or reg hordes.  There are virtually no zombies in sight at the times I have issues.  I can be moving forward and stutter but if I look left, the stutter is gone?  I did drop some of the LOD and mesh settings to their lowest but still the issue.   The memory thing is crazy because like I said I just purchased a new pc.  It has 32gb of ram and a Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super.  I can run every other game on ultra right now but this I have to move down to med and drop LOD and everything else.  IDK, maybe I'll just wait for 1.1.

hey, I had tons of lagging issues that disappeared when I deactivated vsync.

Try that maybe if it's checked on your side. I think I deactivated dynamic meshes too.

That's a nice computer! Looks like the problem is specific to 7DTD. In case you haven't seen it, here's the optimization guide from the UL site: https://ul.subquake.com/optimize-7dtd

Which also links to this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/7daystodie/comments/f4ej9k/here_are_few_tips_tricks_about_how_to_get_some/

It's a lot of reading and may be more work than it's worth. Make note of what changes you make so you can fix it if it makes things worse.
