Wow . Do you see what's happening here? LONG time modders now are even throwing in the towel. This is truly a tragedy. What is it going to take to get someone, ANYONE to understand what is happening here?
Pretty soon you won't have a band of devoted modders to keep this going years from now. First you turn off the casuals, then you turn off the hardcore players. Now its hitting some of the modders.
I know what everyone is going to say. Its Experimental. Its being worked on. We waited a YEAR AND A HALF for this. How much longer do you think some of us are going to hang on to a hope that's never seeing the light of day? Instead of ripping out Progression and Skills the time could have been best spent developing NEW systems, new additions. Instead part if it was squandered. Now all of the good parts of A17 are quickly being overshadowed by the issues.
Its precisely whats been happening, I have been saying this over many many years of this games development but it continues to fall upon deaf ears, casuals, wasn't a big a deal, losing many hardcore players, huge deal, and now that modders are starting to give up, the game will be pretty much doomed if TFP don't freaking listen.
There's lots of casuals, they contribute a good bit to purchase.
Hardcore players are more likely to suggest balance and new content changes for the developers,
Modders, implement those changes suggested by the hardcore players or independantly develop mods that they think are great, and most of the time, they are.
I know I am anti-Mod but mods KEEP a game alive long past its expiration dates while the main developers work to meet their players and faculty demands.
Look at Vampire, the Masquerade Bloodlines, A very old game that due to large number of modders constantly breathing new life into it with extra content has kept that game shining for so long.
Also see Doki Doki Literature Club, for a game that was free, all the mods people developed for it have made it a huge success, the population has exploded and the single hand StandAlone developer caved in under the pressure and became sick and couldn't even work on his projected game for 2018 , I wonder if any pressure is getting to TFP's dev team as well? We do ask a lot of them.
You know what they say, an intelligent person sounds like nothing but a crazy person to stupid people.
I don't say the things I say because I'm an angry hardcore PVP player, I say them because I want to see the game carry greater success and many of the developer choices seem very counter intuitive to success.
Its like their idea is to just ignore all their loyal players and if they leave the game there will always be newer ones.
I currently have 62 friends that have 7 days to die, also its not uncommon to find players in different similar games that have played 7 days to die at some point or another.
All of us can agree that the game is starting to curve downwards in an exponential spiral, if this keeps up this games days are numbered and the release of a similar game may take 7D2D's place.
But hey, the game looks great, but that's all it is, a pretty shell with nothing inside.
A lot of our complaints would be valid complaints from almost anyone that wants a high quality game, but it seems we only get 1/4th or 1/2 of the answer to the problems, rather than a full compromise with the developers.
From my perspective its like TFP keep its staff very small on purpose, and smaller staff with large numbers of problems isn't good for development and fixing problems and balancing mechanics.
Its why I've always been saying to stop sinking 95% into Single Player, but I think that could be why, otherwise if they focused more on multiplayer and player vs player, their player base would certainly sky rocket, however that means more population demands would arise, and your small staff wouldn't be able to handle that, you would be forced to hire more, but hey larger profits would easily allow that sort of thing, if the choice by design wasn't to intentionally keep your staff small that is.
BuT itz a zingel pleyah game!
And that exact attitude is why the game eventually will fail, you can only do so damn much for single player content, hell the content of this game has been stretched thin like a spaghetti noodle over the years, and a lot of that came in the form of crippling the player at the start and level gating.
Also, this is NOT a single player game, it is a MP/PVP game that has been GROOMED to be Single Player (Pssssttt thats why its content is so awkward! )
When you deal with other players, that content is no longer straight forward and linear but rather a series of ups and downs.
Single player will pretty much be linear, even if you have the worse luck with drops there is an apex at which you will cross where the game is no longer fun and interesting to you because you've seen everything and done everything.
I could carry on and on reasons as to why its better to focus more on MP/PVP instead of SP but at least 70% of you consider that blasphemy. So I'll save myself time and headache, but if anyone really wants to have a discussion about it, I'm always welcoming private messages, or discord/TS
