PC Just as unfinished as it was 4 years ago

My point was that PC players treated those updates as "progress" and we were no closer to a finished game.  Which is/was Hyperbole on my part...they did add POI's, but, did not put us any closer to a finished game...and by that I mean Bandits, a working weather system and the story line they want to add.

I was also pointing out there has been no public push back on the snail pace, which I think has been hidden behind new skins and progression reworks. I will continue to push back on the idea there has been no dependence on the modders by the player base. TFP at least partially depend on content creators to keep both bases interested in this game. They all use mods.

I truly appreciate what you have done to help facilitate conversation, but, that is not true. They did say it. Their eventual explanation was that "it was how it was referred to internally". I could easily concede it can be hard to walk back misspoken words. But, not that it did not happen.

Without context those sentences by TFP can not be understood. It is obvious that that "always" can't mean **always**. Madmole did not know that A22 was 1.0 when he was a kid and not when they were just doing alpha1 or alpha10 when they didn't even know how many alphas there would be. It was surely meant that as soon as they knew A22 was coming or when they started planning A22 there was already a decision about making it 1.0 instead.

The sentence probably was said in a conversation here in the forum to dispell rumors that Sony and Microsoft demanded the rename, and it meant to say that the decision came **before** the talks with S. and MS. started.

I was asking Roland recently about that rumor and he explained in depth the hows and why's. Sadly I forgot most of that explanation already (it made sense by the way) and have to find it again.

You say TFP depends on mods to keep both bases happy. If you meant PC and console, why do you say they all use mods? The console players can't (yet)

I look forward to reading it

Are you really using such rhetoric? name one LARGE, and also CURRENT, console creator from pre re launch? Anyone of them who wished to continue with 7 dtd, switched to PC after we lost the first version. I am sorry that you guys don't want to hear it or acknowledge it, but, without modders this game would have died or been damn close to it. Without PC Content Creators attracting new interest and keeping current fans entertained...same thing...dead or almost dead. Those people depend on the modders to do that. I hope I am getting thru.

Rhetoric? I simply didn't understand what you were talking about. I asked you a question, not a rhetoric question.

And can you explain this sentence. What is a console creator? Did the old console version have mods?

English is not my first language. I may not clearly understand some things you might think of as obvious.

I was talking about TFP and 7 dtd depending at least partially on PC Content Creators, keeping older fans interested in the game and drawing new players to the game, and that THEY all use mods to make content.

I read your reply as a deliberate misinterpretation...of course console does not have mods. I hope you understand why I might be a little defensive.

I do apologize. We have had no miscommunication thus far, I did not know it was a language barrier.

And can you explain this sentence. What is a console creator?

It was shorthand for Console based Content Creator

I will be more mindful.

There was no roadmap after Alpha 19, 20 or 21...just the same zero progress hidden behind new skins and another progression rework. Over and over with no push back...or did the people pointing that out get the same treatment console people get?  only some of the content creators even grumble on stream about it. but don't say a damn thing to TFP when they have a chance, because they want access, it is a sycophantic relationship...what do I expect? Didn't it @%$# you off they tried to gaslight everyone into thinking Alpha 22 was ALWAYS going to be 1.0? I think if you could put yourself in our position, where we got cut off, then ignored, you might get what we are saying.
People have made their feelings known toward changes TFP have made, or haven't made during every alpha. If you saw the amount of "gates" the PC section has had you would laugh. But again, you are uninformed and unaware, as most console users seem to be. Plenty of creators complain about the game all the time. But most will say after a complaint that it is still one of, if not their favorite game ever. So there's that. And to say all of those alphas have made no progress is just silly, though I'm just suspecting you to be a troll at this point. Have you played 1.0? Even without consoles having RWG support you have access to worlds built using it, do they look anywhere near the same as the old A15 maps? No, they don't. The new RWG is much better. Updated visuals with much better looking zombies, and world deco, etc. Not saying they couldn't have done more by now, but it is what it is. But you'd rather just come here and complain about them not telling you about every little detail of development for some reason. Such an odd hill to die on.

Are you guys even playing the game? Or do you just come here to complain about things that don't matter?

The irony is not lost on me that you think I am ignorant for not reading every post that has ever been made ON THIS SITE. I only came to this site to ask a simple question, because TFP had teased crossplay would happen sooner than we think. That's after being silenced on social media, and discord. THIS site was a last resort. You don't seem to have even read THIS thread all the way thru. If you did and nothing I said to anyone else changed your view...cool...you have the right to see me anyway you like.

I might have missed something, but when they talked about 1.0, it was always about leaving Early Access / console release along with the roadmap showing 3 additional major updates for the game post 1.0.  At least that was the ones I saw (I might have missed some announcements).

https://7daystodie.com/alpha-exodus-leaving-early-access/

One thing I noticed was that a lot of players assumed that 1.0 or leaving Early Access meant that the game was finished.  And I can see why as naming conventions are not always the same in this industry.

For me, the 3 major updates were more of a clue that the game was not going to make any more large scale changes to existing mechanisms - those existing mechanisms will probably be fine tunned / bug quashed / balanced.  There was still development work going on with Storm's Brewing, A New Threat, and the Road Ahead planned updates, so I never associated 1.0 release as the final game - just as a significant milestone where they released a detailed plan on future updates with projected release dates and a confirmation that there is an end in sight for 7D2D development (so no more jokes about A42  😉 )

I saw the same confusion. My problem with it being released this unfinished is that this was a re-release to CONSOLE and We got suppressed out of the conversation pre launch.

I and other people I know, wanted to advocate they not prematurely release the game. We wanted to at least have crossplay and rwg before it was launched...we only get the base game after all...more would be better for us.

Right or Wrong, there are a lot of console players who assume most of the roadmap is never coming.

That TFP needed money to finish the game and we were the piggy bank.

It wasn't the stuff like: I think tying the traders to a biome was dumb...takes a lot of randomness out random world generation and the player experience (imo)...but...that was not the hill I was aiming to die on...it might make sense when the story is added. I don't know. (notice I said when not IF) lol

Yep I still play once real world job is done, but I'm running low on new maps as we don't have random.... When is sooner than Q4?

the answer I eventually got was...the moderators don't know yet either. I hope they know I am grateful.

I am actually grateful for the updated console release to be completely honest and I'm excited for future updates whenever they are available

Last version it was Roland who was the bully to console players

er...wut? I've never had anything against console players. I wasn't even among those PC players who were upset when it was revealed TFP was going to partner with a console publisher to port the game. Tons of longtime veteran players were upset by the news due to fears of what that would do to the PC game. I was never against it and am still not against it even though now the current versions are inextricably linked so there definitely has been and will be an impact on how far the PC version can no longer go to keep it in sync with consoles.

You'll have to remind me of my bullying ways vs console players of the original version. Pre-covid shenanigans is foggy...

Ok, Rolands explanation I was refering to is here:  https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/37506-really-this-is-the-final-build/?do=findComment&comment=569984

But I was wrong, it sheds no light on the exact time when they decided to call it 1.0. Still an interesting read.

They have never given an exact timeline of when they decided to call it 1.0. Rick stated that he and Joel considered the game past the alpha stage "for quite some time". They said that they had been internally referring to Alpha 22 as 1.0 for a number of months. They haven't ever specified exact timings of any of this.

We do know that they originally stated that Alpha 22 would be called version 1 on the Playstation and Xbox. At some point they started coming up with branding ideas to differentiate the new console version from the old console version and then finally chose 1.0 for all versions as I explained in that other thread. But nobody knows the exact timelines of those things. Maybe not even Rick and Joel know the exact date they started formalizing the idea that A21 would be their final alpha version. Joel has referred to the game off and on as being at least partially in beta since A18.

first I 'd like to thank Meganoth again for all his efforts

Since you were the source he cited I really appreciate you adding more context.

As I said earlier to Meganoth "I could easily concede it can be hard to walk back misspoken words".

Rick is well known for saying what he shouldn't... just ask Lathan.
