How far have you gone this playthrough?

Sounds like you have been busy and having fun.
Trying to keep my spirits up, did finally get some good news, and in 24 to 48 hours, It will hit my bank.

Still locked out of my VA account. And of course, my other great passion sees that SpaceX flight 12 is now delayed till no sooner than the 19 of May.

I don't know about others, but I have a massive amount of respect for a military veterans. I do believe that the US does a fairly good job taking care of it's vets, compared to a lot of other countries that probably take it for granted.

My dad was a WWII veteran in the Pacific and had a lot of help buying his house with a GI Bill back in the late 60s.

I am glad you have some good news anyway.

I have not had a chance to play in a couple days, but thought I'd check in anyway, just so folks would know I was not back in the hospital.

With all the stress, it's no wonder I'm having chest pains, from my doctor canceling my baby aspirin script, to the "Home Helper" dude needing to be let go, to the Wal-Mart AI needing yelled at, sheesh.

Groceries are 10 minutes out.

Naptime is calling me, to tired for anything else.

Whew.

Good to hear from you. At least now you can move around without being surrounded by snow. Hope you have a good memorial day, you deserve it.

I know about Walmart delivery, I do not know what I would do without it. I go outside my house about 1 time a week or less if I am lucky. You would not want to know why I am like this, its not pretty.

i just left my house for the 4th time since the amputation, just a quick trip to the mailbox and back. The last three times, I had to stop and rest. This time I made it all the way to the mailbox without getting so weak I had to stop and rest. The voyage home, OTOH, was more like the first three trips, many rest stops.

I did get some whey protein powder, and took 2 shakes yesterday w/meals, and will do so sunday and monday, as well. Perhaps I'll be over the legs getting stiff and sore by then.

Thanks for the kind words.

My mom was a warrior too. She was on a walker at 96 and she made incredibly difficult trips to the mailbox through the garage just to try and build up her strength and might be one of the only ones who would have tried so hard, even after all the operations. She was an inspiration. Everybody respected her and its a bummer she is gone now.

I'm trying to find a nice, relaxed time I can play.

Right now, at just about 1230am, if all goes well, I can try to sneak in a HN, but I cannot do a write up until morning, if then...

So, just a quick note, things have continued to be "Interesting Times" in the Chinese sense.

I got my transportation needs fixed up, and can now stop being a burden on my family when I need to see the doctor. I also will limit my Doctor to one time/calendar month, as they were going crazy with three back to back times when I would need to do things. I still need to wear a battery powered vacuum pump every time I go to the bathroom, let alone leave the house. Still need to obsess over a plug to keep the pump charged up, but hey.

Had to fire the home Helper kid I had, as he was not working out, the new lady is also causing me some ire, but at least I turned that into some much needed exercise. I, for the first time since the amputation, have been able to walk all the way to the mailbox, without having to stop and rest along the way. Amazing how fast the legs lose strength when you don't use them, but at least they are gaining strength, and I have hope the pain will stop being a thing, once I get them whipped back in shape.

Any way, an update is coming later today. I think I made it to 66-67, and have some video to share, as a still image.

I have finally started to see more than 1-2 Demo's per HN. Then this happened...
He's gonna blow.jpg
"Lucky hit sir", in the klingon sense.
He's gonna blow 2.jpg
Wait, no, not right in my face!!!
He's gonna blow 3.jpg
Well, ok, be that way, I'll just get my red loot bag from your friend, then.
Wait, What.jpg
Wait, What? I never touched him...
Nnnoooo.jpg
No red loot bag from that guy either.

I'm having a blast.

Day 67, 0414 hrs.
Level 141, 9195 Kills.
QP 63/100.

Although I'm having a blast, I think I will be setting HN back to every 7 days, at least until I can make some repairs, and restart my farming & cooking/crafting.

Next HN will be day 70.

Glad to hear you are gaming again.

I just upgraded my overkill base to even more of an overkill base with a new set of 128 dart traps and 192,000 darts. 128x1500. I play 120 hour days and even then I had to go mining for iron 3 times and it took about a game week to make the 192,000 darts. I also added 24 new SMG turrets and made the mistake of making countless boxes of high power 9mm ammo when I find out you can not put high power 9mm in turrets. So then I made countless boxes of regular 9mm ammo.

About to make another AFK video of day 238 bloodmoon #34 with the new traps to see how far they can go. They made it in last time at about 3:30 or something. The thing was that I left an important turret off without knowing until it was over. They may have not made it in with that turret on.

BTW, who is the blue guy in Pic #1. I play V 1.4 so I have no clue who the blue guy is.

Forgot to mention I have started using OBS to record the game. FRAPs was eating to much resources. It makes good videos, still had to edit and re-encode but it was easier to record.

Well I did my bloodmoon #34 with all the extra traps and I am lucky I saved the save files because the first 2 times I played it out, the zombies did not get through the outer wall at all. They made the mistake of coming from other sides like from the east to from the north which had full SMG Turrets and they were cut down, if they continued to come from one direction where the SMG Turrets were out of ammo they would have gotten somewhere. One thing I think was different this time, was there was no dire wolves and in the last video I made the dire wolves did the most damage to the wall.

The third time, they got through the outer wall at the last minute (like 3:45 or something) and the new dart traps and the 3 SMG Turrets cut them down in split seconds. I made a video of the third time, but it is kind-of boring up until the last minute and even that was boring, so I will not upload it.

I am going to try bloodmoon every night now. Problem is that between my needing to mine more oil shale and the amount of time to repair my massive base may not work out.

Still an awesome game don't get me wrong. I just wish I could have 128 zeds at a time on bloodmoon instead of being capped at 40 or 60 or something. If you have seen my base you will know how much I love the game, and the patience I have had building it.

I decided to put bloodmoon at every 2 days. This is a cool option, I thought it was every day, every 3 days or weekly. I also got the zed speed up to Nightmare, whatever that is, I guess I will find out. Its not really the speed, it's having them attacking from one side for a as long as they can to drain the SMG Turrets on that side. Oh and more Dire Wolves I hope too.

I just turned HN off for now, I want to do something other than just kill zombies all day, every day. I'll turn them back on for day 70.

Quick question, after an amputation of a couple of the outer toes & a skin graft over the wound, how long for a foot wound to heal, so the person can get back up and around?

In the hospital, they (the Surgeon) said 2 weeks of no standing/walking, but later folks are telling me maybe up to four months. Which is true?

Right now, with the vacuum pump still on, I've been walking again and slowly building up my endurance, the last two days I have made 2 1/2 mile walks, plus 4-12 laps on a roundabout right next to my building. I used to do 4 laps a day, everyday, but then got lazy when I discovered the wal-mart delivered, and my King-Shing delivered, so I stopped walking over the winter months.

That led to two hospitalizations from congestive heart failure in Jan, and then, after all the walking I did to try to get the heart back up to speed, my feet got blistered, and that led to the amputation, and that brings me up to current affairs.

So, how long for a guy to regain his ability to walk just a few miles a day?

I was 5 weeks of no weight bearing on the foot, and after that I was okay to walk again. This was true for both when I just had the big toe amputated, and for when the rest of my toes were amputated. But it depends on how quickly you heal. The important part is that it's healed such that you're not in danger of having the stitches/wound sight come apart from walking on it.

From my very general understanding .. the problem with predicting the healing rate is that the foot kinda literally was NOT healing. If it was healing normally, it wouldn't have become "rotten" in the first place. If the situation didn't improve, you could almost predict that it would not heal at all. Your situation sounds like it has improved to an extent (lowered blood sugars), but that still makes any actual prediction kinda impossible.

Especially as the sugar in blood is not necessarily the problem, it might be sugar in tissues, all the cells. Injected insulin and such therapies will lower blood levels, by pushing More of it into cells => how that effects the overall situation is .. unpredictable.

I was, frankly, addicted to sugar. At the time i went under the knife, I had 4 12-packs of Mt Dew, and 2 2-liters of Mt Dew in the fridge. They were the first things I got rid of when I got released from hospital.

Yesterday, as I was feeling that maybe I had gone too far working on lowering my blood sugar levels, and purging all the built up layers of excess sugars, I ate 2 slices of "Un-French toast", but even then, my morning BS was 100.

This morning, even though I broke my fast between midnight (when I took my injection), and when I took my reading at 8am, my BS was 98.

I've been mostly eating salads everyday since the amputation, no rice, no breads, no cereal, and most assuredly, no Pop. I drink cinnamon bark tea in the mornings, and protein shakes at lunch & maybe dinner.

I'm doing my best to get myself free of sugars, carbs, and starches.

Was this also caused by diabetes/blood sugar levels?

My surgeon told me after the operation, that most folks would have the vacuum pump for 2-3 months, but that, at the rate my foot was healing, I wouldn't need it that long.

I'm hoping that I can walk again soon after the skin graft.
