FennecMod - Deadly Ferals, Rad Zeds, Specializations, Ore Processing and More

Hi, Max!

Today noticed changes with a mini-bike. The basket changed its right position to the left. But that is not all. The open window of the mini-bike does not fit completely on the screen of my monitor. The monitor at me with the permission 1600 * 1200 and a parity of the parties 4 * 3. Is it possible to somehow fit a mini-bike window into my screen?

I can set another screen resolution for widescreen monitors, but this will also be a lower resolution and a small picture ...

I dismantled and collected a mini-bike, but everything remained in that state as I described above.

Yes, and more.

For construction on workbench HIGH HEAT FORGE, ALOYFORGEHIGHHEAT, HIGH HEAT LASER SMELTER, you only need to find books? .... I looked through several book buildings, but did not see such books ...

Hmmm, I could see if I can make the bike window smaller. Can you send a screenshot of it so I can see where I need to take it in a little or make what squares smaller? I should be able to solve that.

I use mine in 1920x1080 with no issues - so it could just be a resolution setting. But I will try and fit it to your screen if you have the shot there that I can use :)

They are not in yet. This schematic will be unlocked via a later game quest you can get from a trader, but I have yet to implement such a quest yet :) These blocks are just placeholders but they will allow you to smelt up to 3 items at once instead of 2 once you get them and I add the quest in. It does require a lot of work though as it involves killing some zombies that only spawn on higher gamestage difficulty horde nights :)

Hmmm interesting - so it would seem that the left and right sides get choppified on a 1200 setting. But seems good on a 900.

Only thing I can think to do is to halve the size of the squares and make it 4x18 instead of 7x9. Would give more slots but could fit it in lower res screens a little better. I'm not good with UI type stuff so I'll have a tinker.

Can make 6 * 11?

Remove the leftmost column from the left and add two horizontal lines at the bottom.

Do not change the size of the squares.

And it will be 3 squares bigger than now. :smile-new:

I could do, but I think still some of the UI will be off your screen if I don't reduce the square size somewhat. I will have to have a play around with it :)

Coming soon to FennecMod 1.1

Greetings! So, coming soon to FennecMod is a lot of awesome new features! And here we go for the new changes and additions...

Small Refinery - a new workstation!

A new workstation is coming: The Small Refinery! You will be able to use this station to produce crude oil and then further refine it into gas, oil or other usable plastic products.

The Refinery is locked behind Science level 7, so you'll be over level 100 before you can purchase this or read the book that will give you the recipe. However your quest to get parts for the refinery should start way before then, since the tools you will need for it are rare and not easy to find.

The tools you'll need:

- Distillation Column: This is used to turn shale into crude oil and then further distil it into more usable forms.

- Vacuum Chamber: This is used to help shape plastic products on the refinery into other forms.

- Air-cooled Condenser: This is used to help turn crude oil into usable plastics for later refinement.

Later: A quest will be available for you to get the parts of the refinery, should you prefer doing a quest instead of trying to loot for the stuff in boxes yourself. Should be a failsafe for those bad RNG times, but it won't be easy...

The refinery can produce the following products:

- Crude Oil: This is the basic unit and is produced by simply crafting shale here. 5 shale become one crude oil.

- Gas Can: Crude oil can be refined into gas cans for further use in your power setup or minibike.

- Oil: You can refine crude oil into regular oil for use in repair kits, molotovs and other items.

- Scrap Plastic: You can create scrap plastics from crude oil. But most items that would usually require scrap plastic now require...

- Plastic Sheet: Crude oil or scrap plastics can be crafted into plastic sheets. These are now used for the majority of crafting items containing plastics. They can be found in junk and required to craft the refinery too so keep hold of them.

- Plastic Fletching: Steel arrows and crossbow bolts now require plastic fletching to craft. You can still use the feathers recipe too.

- Plastic Shell Casing: High tier shotgun shells now require a plastic shell casing which can be made only on the refinery. You may find them in the world too, rarely.

- Plastic Casing: Plastic casing is required for crafting vitamins and steroids now, rather than just scrap plastics.

Alloy Forge - Now behind a schematic

In order to make the alloy forge now, you'll need to have a schematic to craft it. It was actually super easy to get once you got your first firge up and running. It requires Tool Smithing 7 and Science 6. Whilst you can unlock steel smithing and steel tool crafting before then, you'll be able to repair steel tools you find in the world just by knowing how to craft steel tools and can still craft your own with tools you find in the world.

Loot table updates

Some various changes made to loot tables for balancing...

- New 'Jackpot' added for the 'smithing' books you can find that raise your core skills. Rarely you will find 2-3 of each book all in one container.

- Chemicals like hydrochloric acid and other things will now appear in lab equipment boxes. A quest will rely on this before you can craft your own in a future patch.

- New 'Jackpot' added for the chemical loots too. Sometimes you'll find 2-6 of every type of chemical all in a box.

- Cops always drop acid sacs if successfully killed without exploding.

- Plastic sheets and plastic shell casings added to loot in junk.

- The Art of Alloying: New schematic for the alloy forge added to the loot tables in books loot.

Trader pricing updates

Schematics were selling for way too much at traders and it was causing imbalance (when schematics end up being more expensive than AKs, you know you have some issue, right?) So, all schematic prices will be cut by about 2/3 to 3/4 of their value which means you'll be able to get them for cheaper but also sell them for less too. They are still valuable though, so worth doing for sure, but now you will have to sell a lot of them to make any huge margin off of them. This should also help balance and not get you too OP tools and loot too quickly.

Skill Book Crafting!

Now you can craft skill books using note fragments you find around the world! The following books are craftable with fragments:

- Science Book

- Tool Smithing Book

- Weapon Smithing Book

- Gun Smithing Book

- Armor Crafting Book

You can craft any of these books using 100 note fragments. However, you will be able to craft a book for as little as 50 fragments if you have access to the research desk.

And you stil suprising with new stuff, Max. Nice work. Will try to avoid current stuff that will be exploiting later on. Just for sake of my sanity. :D

You are really enjoying making this mod, aren't you? Keep it comming. ;)

I didn't come a cross that honeycomb (if remembered right) to make my own honey. Is that a drop only? Do I need to look for specific item container or maybe farmer? I em only on day 20 so maybe I didn't loot that much to get it.

And another question is regarding specialization: Where can I craft new one once I get 1000 class papers?

Will appreciate any help, thanks.

Honeycomb is found from stumps, you may see a small colony of bees in there as well which you can take create your own bee colony to get more raw honeycombs.

Master all 3 classes and you will get access to the research desk, where you can craft new classes.

FennecMod 1.1 Update -

Oil changes are in!

Minibike fancy sort button fixed!

Bugs squished!

Have fun :D

Is this a restart on major update?

Hi Max!

Been enjoying your challenging mod. Does the latest oil update require a new game restart? Because I'm level 98 and drooling over science quailty level 7 so I can finally read those dang schematics that have been taunting me from my loot box since the beginning if this game!!! LoL. So, I don't want to upgrade my mod just yet if it will suggest a re-start. I would at least love to play around with my new toys before I re-start.

Tks much!

Greetings :D

You will not need to restart for the oil update. You will however need to find the schematic and the parts for the oil refinery before you can use it. They are only lootable as well, though you may get lucky and find the parts at the trader. You'll also need to loot for plastic sheets, as scrap plastics these days are largely useless until refined back into sheets or other shapes. You use those as well as some other things to build the refinery :)

Good news for you too - skill books are now craftable with note fragments! So, you can use 100 fragments to craft a science book - or 50 fragments to a science book if you have a research desk. So, if you're struggling, get raiding some crack-a-book towers and you'll be swimming in fragments to make into skill books.

Biting toilets

Hi, we're still running the original 1.1 version so I don't know if this has been changed already, but we decided to install a toilet in our base and upgrade it. However, every time you try to use it we take damage like we're standing on a spike or something. Is this intentional? I thought we were supposed to be able to get a working toilet that collected turds. Instead we half break the toilet by the time we stop needing to go poo. Some kind of inside joke there?

Otherwise, love the mod.

The toilet damage is unfortunately required to allow the toilet to work as it does. If you set the damage to 0 the toilet doesn't downgrade.

Essentially what you need to do is sit on the toilet and let it break down. Even if you don't need to poop you can still sit on it until it fully breaks. Then, once it's fully destroyed, it will downgrade into a lootable toilet. Once you loot that and get your turds back, it will change into a 'cooldown' state. After about half an ingame day it will then turn into the working one again that you can sit on.

Coming Soon to FennecMod 1.1: Napalm Bombs, Auto Mining, High Heat Forges!

Greetings! So it has been a little quiet on the FennecMod front recently but there are some new things that are coming in which I'm sure you guys will like for FennecMod :D

Napalm Bombs & Explosive Barrels!

Since we have the oil and plastic production system in place now, I think it's time for us to see about getting some more uses out of it! So, let me introduce you to...

- Polystyrene Pellets: These are crafted in the small refinery and are used to craft napalm mixture and used as a basis for ballistic armour.

- Napalm Mixture: This is used to craft napalm bombs and napalm barrels which explode when shot.

- Napalm Bomb: Handles just like a molotov cocktail - you can also throw it at wooden structures to deal extreme damage to them. Trust me, if you are using these in PVP your enemy will know about it if their base is made of wood. Napalm deals 50 damage per second to zombies for 30 seconds, totalling 1500 damage. You can use this to help neutralise rad cops and all but the toughest zeds will be taken down by these things. Good for clearing large crowds. But don't get yourself on fire else you'll be taking 8 damage per second for 30 seconds. Water does not put out napalm! By contrast, molotovs only do 12 damage per second and has a smaller effect radius.

- Napalm Barrel: Imagine a gas barrel, but this one also deals napalm damage too! Stay well away from these things if you're going to blow them up.

- Flame Trap Fuel: Now requires 10 napalm mix instead of 100 gas cans.

Miner Class Exclusive: Auto Miner!

A new automatic mining machine has been added to the mod! If you chose the miner class you will be able to build this after you master your class. However it is not cheap (requiring a lot of forged Fadium & Foxium - get that laser smelter running!) and maintenance is quite high.

Building it: After you build it you can place it anywhere in the world. The mystical properties of Fadium and Foxium allow the miner to open an interdimensional wormhole connecting our world to the world under the bedrock layer, and thus can mine up vast quantities of ores no high end tools could reach. Although we cannot visit the layer beneath bedrock, the ore concentration here seems to be super high.

Using it: In order to then use the miner, you will need to upgrade it with an Auto Miner kit. This can be crafted only by the miner class and requires a diamond, an auger blade, and 1000 gas. Then simply hold this in hand and right click the miner to place the materials inside. Once done, you can then leave the miner to run and after a while you'll be able to loot it. Once looted, you will need to use another auto miner kit to get it running.

What does it get? The auto miner will fetch the BLOCK variants of ores and NOT the processed variants. For example, instead of mining up small stones, the miner will return stone blocks to you. You will then need to put these down yourself and break them for the resources. However, the industrial grinder station can be used to break down the ores into their respective items, though it is much less efficient.

Blocks you can get: Stone, Gravel, Clay, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Zinc Ore, Lead Ore, Coal Ore, Potassium Nitrate, Uranium Ore, Gold Ore, Silver Ore, Diamond Ore

High Heat Forges! Smelt more at once!

High heat variants of all three forges exist and can be unlocked by completing a quest at the trader.

High heat forges are just the same as their regular counterparts however they can smelt up to 3 stacks of items instead of 2!

Waiting for the bbm to be added to play this mod myself I tried with out it. But just to much different stuff to go with out.

BBM will not be a thing for FennecMod, but you are able to get a minibike with 63 slots of storage. Early game is not about convenience, it's about the struggle ;) In A17 there will be more slots for the bag though so may be able to tie it in to a skill you can get.

FennecMod 1.1 Final Content Update!

Late Game Bosses, Traps, Napalm, Quests

Greetings! So we've got one last update to FennecMod for you guys for A16, which will conclude the development of FennecMod for the foreseeable future until A17. Hold on to your hats, as this is a good one!

New Boss Zombies

Here are now a complete list of boss zombies that you will encounter. Bosses are only found on horde nights and you will see more of them as time passes and your gamestage gets higher. By Day 70 you should be at the maximum gamestage to see them all, and trust me you're not going to like some of them.

Fat Hawaiian Bomber Bastard: You may have seen this guy already as he spawns on early game horde nights. After gamestage 1500 his feral counterpart spawns. This guy does high block damage if he blows up but less entity damage, with the feral being about 3x stronger.

Fat Bloated Bomber female dog: You may also have seen this lady already as she also spawns on early game horde nights. After gamestage 1500 her feral counterpart spawns. She does low block damage but very high entity damage, with the feral being about 3x stronger.

Rocket Cop: This guy is tough and indistinguishable from a regular cop. If you see him on late game horde nights you're going to want to be careful as he pukes rockets that can blast through blocks! You may need to use some auto turrets to keep these guys at bay whilst you deal with the other zombies. If he explodes, you're in for a world of hurt.

Blue Flare: What happens if you give a burnt zombie superpowers? Well, he turns blue and becomes a firebreathing menace, that's what! You will see him in mid game horde nights and beyond. Whatever you do, don't let his fire hit you or it's going to hurt a lot - luckily it travels slowly, so stay on the move. Oh, and don't let him blow up... Seriously, you'll be kicking yourself if he does.

The Penetration Tester: So, you think your base is impregnable, huh? Well, time to put it to the test! This guy is indistinguishable from a regular businessman zombie apart from 2 things: He moves slightly slower, and his health pool is huge (10000 HP). Oh, and the fact that he can tear through reinforced concrete like it was butter? Yeah that too. Killing him gives you a LOT of note fragments and also the chance of getting the official Penetration Tester ID that you can sell at a trader for tons of cash or use it to complete a quest.

The DC Killer: We didn't get the behemoth in A16. But that's alright, who needs him when you have this monstrosity? Appearing only on the latest of late game horde nights, this guy will literally one-shot you with full health and decent armour if you're not prepared for him. He runs faster than you, has super high entity damage and health. You'll want to be behind some walls before attempting to take him down, or at least be prepared to keep him at bay with an automatic weapon. Shotguns won't slow him either, so be careful out there. Killing him will give you some great military guns, lots of ammo, rare books and other goodies.

Upgrades to Traps!

You know how some traps become a little less useful over time and in late game they get destroyed way too easily? Well, we have some improvements to them! In particular: Barbed Wire! It got an overhaul.

Razor Wire: Once you get access to steel and an alloy forge you will be able to craft this! It's very similar to how the barbed wire works, but has 2000 durability instead of 200 and slows down zombies twice as much.

Razor Wire Fence: This is the upgraded equivalent of barbed wire fence. You can use this to slow down zombies twice as much, and it has 2000 durability just like the razor wire.

Napalm!

Napalm is in and it's deadly! You will be able to craft polystyrene on a small refinery workstation and mix this with gas to create napalm which you can then refine into flame trap ammo or use in napalm bombs! But be careful as napalm cannot be extinguished by going into water and if you do happen to catch yourself on fire, you're going to know about it... So you may need to spam med packs to prevent yourself from dying if you don't throw it far enough away from you. The bombs are extremely volatile.

Quests!

Okay, well... One new quest. In order for you to unlock the high heat forges, you will need to successfully kill a Penetration Tester boss zombie and retrieve an official penetration tester ID card from them. Turning this in will yield the schematic for the high heat forges, and once done you will be able to unlock them to smelt up to 3 items at once instead of 2.

Sleepers - Bosses will spawn in buildings!

Now sleepers will be much more of a challenge! Bosses will spawn in buildings now and have a chance to spawn as your gamestage rises.

- After Gamestage 500-800 ferals will start appearing randomly in POIs. There may very rarely be a boss.

- After Gamestage 1500, pretty much all zeds will be feral. You will also have a higher chance of seeing bosses as well as some randomly placed throughout.

Gun & Ammo Rebalance!

Guns are now a much rarer find in the world. Instead of finding the full gun you will mainly find the parts for the full guns which you will have to assemble later on. Shotgun messiah crates have the best chance of giving you full guns as well as military zombies.

Ammo for the shotgun has been weakened and the slug has been made better, so they are about as good as a high grade shell now with one projectile. The starting shotgun has been buffed a little as well for anyone taking the shotgun class.

Loot Rebalance!

- Toilet pistols are now super rare.

- Better loot on wights now - you'll get less chance of getting junk, so they are worth a kill.

- More ammo in the world instead of guns now, you'll need it.

- Zombie loot slightly altered.

- Workstations that are destroyed have a much higher chance to drop decent loot.

- Destroyed cement mixer should always contain some concrete, cement or cobblestone

- Destroyed forges should always contain smelted stuff or tools.

- Destroyed chem station may contain oil refinery parts you will need for later.

- Destroyed generators and battery banks should have higher chances to contain engines and batteries.

This is the best mod I have played so far, thank you for the hard work. I really like the multi profession choices at start. Its the first time in any play thru where I picked up cotton, lol.
