Do you wear an armor set or do you mix and match?

I wear whatever medium and light armor I find starting out but as soon as I can I build a set of assassins armor. Then I make it look more like a ranger set. Ninja cowboy.

Ever since the new armor in 1.0, I mix and match. Since I'm spears, I like the Ranger armor. However, the Ranger gloves aren't worth it and neither is the Ranger set bonus. So I tend to use the Biker gloves for the melee damage bonus. But since 2.0, the armor magazine drops are horrible, at least without perking into armor. So even though I'm end game with basically all Q6 stuff (still Q3 machete for skinning, though I can make a Q4), I can't craft over Q4 armor. So I am just using whatever armor I've found (mix of Q4 and Q5). I haven't bothered buying anything.

In the end, the armor is kind of pointless other than whatever bonuses there are. I can wear any armor even in the end game and it's not a problem. It's mostly just about the bonuses now. In the past, I always picked heavy armor. Now, I don't worry about that anymore either. And since most of the bonuses aren't really that important, I just really don't care about what I'm wearing. When I craft Q6, I'll end up doing the Ranger for everything except gloves and the Biker for globes, but otherwise I just use whatever I find and call it good.

And I absolutely do not swap armor for farming or mining or reading or anything else.

2.0 Early game anything goes.
Mid game i start to focus on the preacher light armour set. no stamina/mobility/noise penalty
2 main reasons - Damage dealt to zombies via the gloves across all weapons and the full set bonus for crit & infection
With the combined reduce damage & healing for a strength build it suits my melee play style. Then add pack mule and 2 points into Siphoning Strikes healing items are no longer needed.

1.0 before the majority of spawn points were changed with new POI's i liked the stealth build unfortunately i now feel its been made redundant.

One bag/vehicle slot will always be filled with the nerd outfit for the book bonus chance.

Only real late game will i make mining outfit for the big base build grind.
I see no other need for the nerd outfit apart from the book perk as the sledge hammer double damage completely out paces the 20% xp gain by nerd goggles.
As for farming... I have largely dismissed farming in vanilla due to it not being sustainable early / mid game without penalizing you with reduced damage output for diversifying your points.

Gotta have that Rogue Hood for increased XP kills and Loot Stage combined with Treasure Hunter Mod.

Light armor, assassin, preacher gloves. Appearance rogue Cowl/hood, preacher chest, preacher gloves
and I leave the assassin boots. Kind of like in "Priest". Every game I play I look for that leather cowl/hood.

If possible, I make a priest set, I like protection from infection. There is also a miner set, but I put it on when I go digging. If the strength is not pumped, then the pickaxe with this set does not consume stamina so much. I also keep a farmer set, but I only use it when harvesting.

Preacher Gloves and Ranger Boots are definite choice for me (used to use commando boots).

Use assassin's hat (though to be honest I get lazy about swapping so often just use rangers hat).

Chest is more of a dilemma, tend to use commando, assassin sometimes.

Agent Smith, Enforcer Set all the way, baby. Once we can once again dye our armor, then it is the "Men in Black" look for me.

I wear the Enforcer set for the better barter and speed bonuses while I'm out and about, and the crit resistances are nice, but the glove bonuses just don't do anything for me. I use the Farmer set when harvesting my crops, the Miner set while digging my bedrock tunnels/mines, and the lumberjack set when it's time for planting/harvesting my commercial forest reserves.

I have built the Nerd set, and carry the armor with me while making a beer runz, and once I (and my drone) am full of books, I just swap out my body armor, and reap the benefits of faster book/skill progression.

I love the way the new system is set up, and think that it is fine the way it is. I haven't build an Athletic Set in either my friend's game, or my follow on solo game, because the +50 stamina and +100 life we can get already make long range, cross country running easy enough that those are not really needed, but will be nice as an additional thing to finish exploring the rest of the map.

Of course, the Gyrocopter is nice, but with all the broken legs and deaths I have suffered by accidently exiting the darn thing mid flight, not to mention storms, I have not even built my first landing/launching pad, yet. I'll probably wait until I actually can buy/build a gyrocopter before I start building the elevated 20 X 50 heli-pads.

Right now, after my friends game stopped working once he started having problems streaming/screen sharing, I lost my 233 level guy, and his 200 level buy is now somewhere north of level 238, and I had to restart with my solo guy, who was level 40-60 something.

The race is on!

I'm just a bit past level 120 in my game, have just unlocked the dessert and snow biomes, and have started working on my main base (in my solo game). I have walled off access to the load bearing pillars, placed a double row of spikes (Iron, are Steel more durable/worth the cost), and started to fill in the base's foundation. My base, exclusive of the outer 'ladder towers', is 25 X 27, and sits upon it's support pillars', until I can fill in the whole foundation.

It depends on the melee weapon I'm using. Most of the time it's steel armor, but currently I'm using a stun baton and wearing a combination of nerd armor and nomad boots so I can run faster.

I usually painted my armor pink. Not many people use it.
My friend still does.

I only used pink for my steel ladder, to show me where it was on my old Horde night base, with a black tv screen tower, the pink ladder was very visible, even for my eyes, lol.

I'm using the Preacher set. The arm gear is strong, and the overall fashion makes me feel like I'm truly ready to fight zombies.

I also try to paint the stairs in something contrasting. But their color will depend on the color of the walls. For example, if I paint the wall black, the stairs will be white.

The color of clothes helps a lot on open PvE servers. You can quickly understand where the player is and where the zombies are. And if you gather in a team, it is easier to distinguish each other. Especially if the team is made up of random people.

I did that, too. I did it with my weapons, too. I think it was A17 where the bright pink was still there, but it was toned down later. Now, I tend to dye my weapons and vehicles orange so that I can spot them more easily in the inventory.

Nomad set. I tend to go melee, only switching to firearms when the number of zombies is overwhelming, and since that means I get hit a lot wearing heavy armor is the way to go. I like the reduction in eating\drinking that the Nomad set provides, and the extra run speed while wearing heavy armor is nice.

The armor set bonuses are much less attractive than the individual bonus ones.

I know that TFP is getting its sleeves tugged a lot lately, but I think this should be looked at. I know the steal full set bonus was interesting, and the Lumberjack set is very situationally useful, but there's nothing even remotely exciting amongst the rest. I'd never give up the optimization of mixing armor pieces for needed bonuses rather than wearing crap to get a crap set bonus.

The easy solution would be to beef up the set bonuses in either quality or quantity.

I'll take whatever drops until I can wear the Assassin set, which I'll wear day-to-day as I use stealth a lot. I'll keep a Commando set around for horde nights. I'm good with the set bonuses from both of those sets.

You got me looking at the set bonuses. The rogue full set bonus is pretty horrible. Find more cash and dukes in loot? Kinda sucks imo. Does anyone want to find more cash? I usually drop cash on the ground right away.
