Perhaps, thought I don't see any value to gold unless there's a civilization that either wants it for pretty things or manufacturing. I mean, you can't eat it, drink it, or hunt with it so in terms of raw survival, it only weighs you down.
It's a tough thing to try and make all of the game's world make sense.
Both fair points. I guess my assumption comes from the idea that people (in general) hold onto traditional ideas over a period of time. It can take decades for a culture to shift their ideals, which would likely include what people find value in.Values change with lifestyle. And as for traditions, they are different everywhere. History knows of tribes that used shells as money and had no interest in gold. Before Europeans arrived in the Kimberley region, diamonds were considered trash by the local population. There are many other examples.
The problem within 7DTD, is that gold and silver have 0 use outside of selling to the trader (and diamonds have exactly 1 use that isn't even that great). If they got rid of their value at the trader, they become completely useless and TFP might as well take them out of the game.
