Hi guys,
Please can you make the spawn on and off a bit more scaleable?

on or off for all Z's is not fun ;-)

Maybe normal respawn off and on, but hordes are always on and sleepers too?

Is this modable?
I'm not sure about sleepers but normal spawns and hordes are definitely moddable.

Feedback on spike traps.

I have been trying out the new spikes and have found the following.

The wooden one is either ignored or attacked by zombies. They don't seem to be hurt by it. But treat it like an obstruction and attack it until it's gone.

The medal one is ignored to but they just walk into it and die. But this action automatically damages it by twenty-five present. That's assuming that it was a weak zombie that walked into it.

Also upgrading wooden spikes is even more wasteful than building iron ones out of forged iron. It simply upgrades the spikes to an iron one. Still cost the same as an iron one but does not refund any of the wood for the wooden one.

I really liked the log spikes better. They did not take damage unless something hit it and did not cost as much. unless you upgraded them several times.

I would really like to see spike traps change to be more like log spike traps. Either that or consider bringing back log spikes please.
agree with this - the new spikes seem fragile

Hunger and thirst and stamina consumption seem to be a bit counter-intuitive in 17.1. I was looting the hospital (big thumbs up on the redesign by the way, I think the only thing that'd improve it is giving the body bags a chance to come alive) today. Started with food and water levels above 110 each and was crippled with 50 max stamina while still on ground level.

The max dropped far more quickly than I'd expected, and I had to leave the building because I hadn't brought food. In the past eating and drinking before going on a jaunt like this made sense, and felt far more realistic.

The range is now 0 to 150, it's not 0-100 with an extra 50 buffer. 110 is only 73.33% fed. Here's a chart:

But the advantage is making those wood spikes into iron spikes almost instantly, without the substantial crafting time for just making iron spikes

So, I wanted to go back to play on stable 17.1 but it's not updating. Still stuck on 17.0 for stable. I opted out of experimental. I tried restarting Steam but it didnt work. I have Steam on auto updates and nothing.

There is an explicit "Alpha 17.1" option you can select (in Properties, Beta tab)

17.1 is stable, so select 17.1, not latest experimental, if I am understanding correctly your problem

Has anyone had their chest and bedroll despawn on them? I have 4 chests down on top of a building. It appears while I was clearing out a POI not far away, my bedroll and the second to last chest I placed despawned (I placed a chest outside of the POI before clearing it). Is this a known issue or should I post a bug report?

Oh, they do use them for pathing.
In that video they didn't have a path to you that could have avoided spikes. So yes they took the path that avoided the trench in the terrain. Spikes didn't even enter the equation. It didn't address my post whatsoever. If they have an equally flat path to you that goes thru spikes and one that does not go thru spikes they will not prefer either over the other. Some will hit the spikes randomly, some will not. The spikes themselves do not matter in the path making decision in my experience.

He may have selected "NONE- opt out of all beta..." and that may still point to 17.0
That's not the case for me, I opted out of experimental on release of A17.1 and it is still A17.1 and not reverting to A17. Maybe they're trying to opt into A17 instead of "NONE"?

If you can reproduce the steps I would absolutely report it as a bug, I haven't had that issue yet. Are there any specifics you can give us?

Wrong. Whatever your max stamina cap is at is your 100% with a buffer to go over 100%. Notice both my food and water are OVER 100%. (just had to eat glass when I updated to 17.1 so the death buff) This is a few minutes after a respawn from death and a fresh meal/drink to bring everything back up.

Yes, please! I think this every time I walk near a body bag. Also, I loot the shower curtains, and I keep expecting a sleeper in there. Maybe do that in third- or fourth-story shower, after the person has been lulled into a false sense of security.

I'll see if I can reproduce it, but that scenario explains everything I know leading up to my chest and bedroll disappearing. I did not do a full wipe after b8 but did start a new map. Playing Navezgane, day 6. The chest had several items in it. I do have a tree farm accross the street from the building I've taken over. It has caused some FPS drop as well, but not sure if it would cause despawning issues. That is a bout all of the specifics I can think of.

I usually don't like to inject myself into forums like this. But for the past few weeks, a few things have been bugging the crap out of me. Pathing would be one of them. Going back to whenever that video was made exploiting the pathing at the time... The ramp one i believe. There was a change to the code. Granted now there are less exploits.. but now POIs are broken in my opinion. Before the Z's waited or made there way to you as they should. Now a lot of them wake up instantly and start smashing things like they just heard there football team lost the superbowl. There not even trying to make paths most of the time either. They just break one block and move to the one to the left or right a few blocks away. Not counting there's a open door or hall right next to them.

My next gripe would be lighting, I understand its not a game breaking thing. For me its a OCD like thing, The mining helmet and helmet light bug. It being reversed and broken for this long. I also hate the mining helmet honestly. Most of the time a hat can and will make that few point difference in being to cold or too hot. Let me duct tape a flashlight to my shoulder or something lol. Yes i understand i can just gamma up... but the game look so silly to me bright.

In closing i would like to thank TFPs for there hard work so far. Don't look at my post as a complaint. I just felt i had to get my opinion out there, to make me feel better.

Well that's a bit lame.. I mean, it's as if instead of re-adjusting the rate at which food and water is expended, it's band-aided by just increasing the overall capacity instead :c

Well, as long as we only see the %'s still.. it'll look like nothing's actually changed until you see it in the character sheet.
