I think it's interesting to consider: should this work?
Does Gamida's tactic work simply because the AI can't manage this kind of path, or because it actually shouldn't manage this kind of path? If it's the former, it's part of a kind of arms race, with players finding loopholes on one side and faatal fixing them on the other side. But if it's the latter, we have a de facto sanctioned, 'yes this would actually work' solution to the fundamental zombie problem.

I'm hoping faatal 'wins' said arms race. Why? Because I would like all the zombie solutions to be balanced, and that would seem difficult to impossible if they're not all accounted for.
I keep reading how people want the game balanced but what does that really mean. Most times I see players wanting some way for zombies to overcome the ways people have figured out how to survive without dying. When someone discovers a way to make a base super hard for zombies to breach then others want it fixed so the zombies have a better chance to break in. Then someone finds another way to keep them at bay and the cycle continues. One side has the upper hand then changes are made and the other side now has the advantage. To me balanced means the odds are even that one side will be still standing at dawn. You win some you lose some. To have one side always defeat the other eventually doesn't seem balanced to me at all.

The point of any survival game to me at least is there has to be a chance you will die, but there also has to be a chance that you will not.

Fate is the ultimate game balance. To win all the time is hollow but to lose all the time is just as bad.

I hope I explained this alright. I am sure I botched it up somewhere but I am hoping some will know what I am trying to get across.

That was not too bad:
Pathing now works on ladders.

Players and AI can now climb ladders without bottom block.
So, now break 2 bottom, put a wood frame one block away, stand on it, jump to catch ladder, player can. But I am sure zombie cannot. Please correct if zombie can do it.

@faatal any chance that zombies will be able to jump 2 or maybe 3 blocks gaps?
ask faatal if he want zombie to play this game.. leave something for player who are not expert like you :)

BTW, I always think the "Difficulty" level in game was related to Zed AI, but from experience I learn it was not. Maybe when we have all those Jump to ladder feature coming, why nto link them to difficulty level ? if you play least difficult they cannot jump, but in normal or higher they can

Did the motion capture include climbing ladders, so the zombie/players look right when climbing?

"Exploits" is really defined by personal preferences. To remove all "exploits" one must give all players a lobotomy, or make zombie apocalypse a real thing. I'll take some exploits in a game.
Its not defined by personal preference though.

Any GOOD game developer HATES to see something exploited to the point of uselessness. Sure it may be fun to the player but a developer sees it very differently. Just because something has been around for so long does not mean it is intended. And making things more difficult to combat is never a bad thing. Im sure fataal and the guys are focusing on closing these exploit gaps as it should be and the game itself will only get stronger for it.

That could be an interesting distinction. Although as the game plays now, I interpret daytime zombies more as being lethargic, than actually having reduced abilities. A cop will still spit in the daytime, and a spider will still climb in the daytime, for instance. The Blood Moon gives them a supernatural awareness ability, but every other night they seem to simply be more active.
Can you jump while moving slow? (Less acceleration up, than the earths gravity acceleration of 9 Meters per second squared, down)

No. No you can not.

Of course, in a game, fun should win over reality most every time.

Edit: What is 'fun' has to be made by TFP's even if they think of your idea and like it, they have to make whats fun for them or the game will be lost as they end up always second guessing themselves.

The funny thing is, most players don't read these forums and they don't know what's coming. They will jump into A17 and soon discover that none of their methods work. It will be massacre...

Hell yeah! Rolands casual remark about Zombies jumping up a ladder in A17 I'm pretty sure, saved my first death for some other horror. :)

I keep seeing myself falling thorough a floor into a room filled with zombies! My characters new first death.

Sometimes I wish i DIDNT know what was coming. Frustrating yes, but also good memories when things like that happen by surprise.

[3 months later...]
Faatal,

I break the bottom two rungs of my ladders and the zombies can’t get up. Can you fix that? Game’s too easy...
[1 day later...]

All zombies can fly now... are you happy? )))

I understand that completely! Fortunately(?), I have a vivid imagination and have played that moment out in my head, when I see zombies climbing up a ladder I broke, as I stand in some attic. I can hear myself think: "I did break the ladder, didn't I?" :)

Yeah I’m hoping there’s some surprises left for us like zombie gophers that pull you underground into a tunnel when you’re in your garden planting corn lol

ARMA Player ?
Not me. I do like some MMO FPS, although I haven't played lately (too many trolls).

Roland! Do not confirm nor deny this! :)

That and Airships filled with Zombie Bear assault teams equiped with Ak-74's and Samurai swords!

Edit: and Clamore mines strapped to their chests!

So lakes full of sharks with fricken laser beams shouldn’t be mentioned either then!
Exactly! I hope A17 is a horror film with no end! :)

That sounds like fun to me, I like it when I come back to a game I haven't played for awhile to find that things have changed and there is a sense of newness again, even if I'm getting smoked in the process because that's part of the fun.

@Faatal mentioned they may add in zombie difficulty that scales with player level, I would very much like to see this implemented.

I would also like to see certain zombie "skill/ability/awareness/intelligence" scaled and separated into levels of game difficulty so that there will be a difficulty level for everyone from easy to super hard.

Also please put my 10 core i9 7900X to work and make crazy super smart AI for the "insane" difficulty level, thanks in advance.

Very nice to hear zombies will be able to use ladders as well!

I was wondering, why are these AI-features still being added after the confirmed A17 feature freeze (as mentioned in the first post)? Is there something I'm missing?
