The one problem I see with this is that you would have to empty it every so often. Otherwise the weapon would jam. If your not carful, it can jam at a very bad time.
Perhaps the mod/attachment makes reload time longer to compensate for emptying brass catcher. And the mod could be coded as a buff that returns 1 bullet casing every time the player shoots, or maybe % chance of returning bullet casing based on quality level

Agreed which is why ideally we would only get the bullets from bodies that we carve up after the kill, instead of when you loot it, that would also encourage corpse clean up.
Would only make sense if it was basically scrap lead, and not usable bullet tips. Brass should also not be in the body. :p

You kinda missed the earlier conversation where I talked about brass being auto policed instead of having to pick it up off the ground, so yeah I never inferred that you would get shell casings off of the body.

Was hoping that was the case. :) But yea, scrap lead.

You are absolutely right the bullets would obviously not retain their shape after they have impacted so scrap lead that would have to be reforged into bullet tips for sure.

The Matrix wasn't just a movie...

When computers rise up and attack!
We've just seen the beginning... next our PC's will only let us watch "Leave it to Beaver" reruns, for a slow, painful death.
I'll reply with "Talkie-Toaster" from the series Red Dwarf only because nobody has done a decent filmed version of the "elevator having an existential crisis about moving sideways" from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. :-)

Those excited with what quantum computer can do to 7DTD, well a decent graphics card in 2018 cost around $1000, so if a quantum computer comes it won't be affordable for at least in my area for next 10 yrs. so why worry about it :) .

Never mind quantum computing, I've been playing with the new multi-threading system in the Unity beta.

It's good, fast, reasonably easy to learn but it also has some quirks which make it an absolute PITA to work with. Everything is struct based and there are no reference types allowed. If you know a lot about object-oriented programming then good for you, it'll make absolutely no difference. I ended up having to rewrite and hard-code the libnoise library while re-coding the system.math library from scratch. To be fair, there are plans for unity to add their own struct-based math library for use with the new system but it hasn't been released yet.

If you're looking for something tangible that'll improve the speed of the game then the new multi-threading system is it. Don't expect it for A17 though, the system is being integrated into unity 2018.1 which is slated for release this month but porting code to use it can be... challenging.

Thank god my goofy posts are slightly better received. At least I try not to sound hostile in any manner as... its a game! Everyone wants to have a few laughs! :)
But to be fair, some of my European friends say the Dutch can be a bit grumpy. Maybe living with the threat of the north sea flooding in and drowning everyone if someone makes a serious mistake could make anyone a bit grumpy.
Ah, a fellow Dutchy? :D

April 24th will mark six months since the last update. What's funny is that people say they want updates that just optimize and fix bugs instead of adding new content but then they never want to count those as "real" updates later...
The 6th of June 2017 marks the day Alpha 16 was released on the experimental branch. Sure you can count a minor update a few months later an update as well, but you will have to excuse me if I don't put them in the same order of magnitude :)

A decent graphics card in '18 costs 1000$? Maybe overpriced overpowered graphics cards do. The GTX 970 is still a very decent card and you can get one for a couple hundred quid. Its perfectly capable of running pretty much anything on max settings on a 1080 PC and even works with 4K. Why anyone would bother buying a more expensive card that supports graphics so good no game even has them yet is beyond me. Even the GTX 960 still holds up well. Both easily run 7dtd on a stable 60 fps. Basically every shooter game runs on max, World of Tanks runs on max and it just recieved a huge update that made all maps HD and changed the engine. At this moment, getting anything better than a 970 is just throwing money out of the window. Get a better graphics card once games actually require them to run on max settings, by then you'll only have to pay half the price you pay now anyway.

Same goes for CPUs. Its all nice having an i7 6700K but pretty much nothing needs a CPU that good, unless you're into very specalized stuff like 3D rendering landscapes or something. But then again, for that you'd best use a homeserver. Quantity of cores tops GHz of few cores in that case. Like, I do have a 6700K in my rig but its just plain overpowered, nothing I do as a casual gamer (tho diehard 7dtd fan) even removely makes use of it to a full extent, and since I dont do 3D rendering stuff, I don't really need a CPU this good. In retrospect I think I should've gotten a cheaper one on like 3.4 GHz.

OMG! I cant feel my brain! What did I do to you!

An honorary citizen you might say. I tried to talk a hotel clerk to bill me for 1/4th a day because I just needed a couple hours sleep. Instead of being annoyed, he asked: "Are you Dutch?" and he then told me all of the Dutch secrets, like Stroopwafel. :)

Let's not go reinventing the wheel as far as brass goes. Add a brass catcher as a mod for guns.

I wouldn't complain if that was automatic and the brass just goes to your inventory. Seems like micromanaging otherwise.
