The analogy is good if you clarify that you clean a house only as much as you need to but it is by no means as clean as what people would like to live in. I’ve been in plenty of homes in progress and if stuff is in their way they “clean” it (push it to the other end of the room or toss it outside in a scrap pile that will eventually have to actually be cleaned up itself). But they’re not dusting and cleaning and polishing for livability which I would say is analogous to playing a finished game.
So some cleaning is done just like some bug fixing and optimizing is done. Just enough to allow building to continue un-impeded.
