and i'll have to pretty much join a server and find myself a plot of land somewhere and build
No. SP created a server locally on your computer, so you have always been joining a server. If you start a MP game with 1 player, it is the same thing, since it makes a server on the computer that started the game. SP was just removed as a separate choice.

Map and origin are two different things. Origin just helps with numeric precision problems when you get far from 0,0, which is what happens the larger the map is.
My bad, what I was trying to ask is with dno, can the map be bigger and we don't get the hippy hippy shakes when we get closer to edge like we did (do?)

Did you notice at around 8:15 as the jeep is passing over the bridge, that the bridge took damage?
We are aware. The main problem is the 45 degree angle on those blocks. A real bridge would slope less or really it would be flat.

Yes, reduced shakes on the edge of a map. Bigger maps would have worse shakes, so it fixes that too.

I have to agree. There should be some user error involved here. Its like hitting the parked car and just rolling away from the explosion unscathed. How OP are these things going to be? Hopefully its adjustable in the xmls.
The gyrocopter will be balanced in the end. What you saw in the video was 1 day of programming work (Friday). It is not hard to gimp. Would be easy to make it so one vulture or spit hits you and you fall out of the vehicle or it explodes.

A lot of vehicle settings are in xml already and I moved more over today with more to come. In A17 some of the xml, including the vehicles can be reloaded during game play, which makes for much faster tweaking for me and anyone else.

In the current game play, agree with earlier poster in saying the G-copter would be over powering. Some ideas to tune the power of the GC:

1. Make the GC fragile.

2. Make the GC hard to fly. Tougher then shown in video. The copter should have stalled and fallen to ground when the steep angle of attack caused forward airspeed to stop.

2. Introduce zombie bats to the game that only come out at night. The bats only attack other things that fly, making flying GC at night suicidal.

3. Make the gas tank very limited or gas consumption high, say 50% of the mini-bike range on a single tank.

4. No extra storage, only the player backpack.

Or... all of that could be controlled in XML and everybody wins?

I noted that MM didn't try to crash through a garage door like in the first vid, which got me thinking; does it only damage one block at a time, or is it capable of damaging ALL of the blocks it "hits"?

Again, whats the difference to the minibike? Were you in any real danger while sitting on the minibike at any time in the last year?
Bah, minibike safety? Just wait until we add the zombie biker gangs. You will see. You will see...

Every collision contact point is checked again blocks, so I can easily damage 6 blocks in the jeep hitting a wall.

As I've recently flown a dragon in game, I can say that it was one of the cooler experiences I've ever had in-game. Really looking forward to the copter, especially since the distant tree's are in.

Can the you set blockdamage via xml like you can items? Pretty please?

kid stuff, the zombie biker gangs should wait until I add the minigun to the minibike.
And we will call that gun the Meganoth.

...I expect the mesh by friday, the textures by monday, and the code by tuesday.

Removed the line about SP being removed and unified with MP. Who knew that one line would cause so much angst. So now all it reads is that the Pause feature works in MP as long as you are playing solo. Nothing but good news to make everyone happy.

Also I added Distant Trees since even though Joel didn't specifically mention it, it is pretty obviously in and looks great! People were speculating on it from faatal's pics but in the video it is conclusive.

Yes. I have been trying to tell TFP's about the block angle problem for years now.

Maybe if they make the bridge into asphalt road may help.

There is something else. Player placed blocks will not mesh with soil blocks. You can see this anywhere you have a POI bordering next to soil.

Is there a way to make them work together?

Yes I beleave that (Trolland) wrote the original line. ;)

That sound you hear is Modders everywhere in various stages of joy.

I wouldn't remove it. It is a change that is in A17. Just because some people can't understand it doesn't mean it won't be there when A17 drops. May as well get their angst out of the way now.

It's not that hard a concept to understand so most of them will fixate on some other change to freak about anyway.
