Madmole showed us a video about the new stuff. One of those things was the vulture attack.

I don't get it, the way that the bird attacked would not work at all. I mean it is flying fast and yet it can turn on a dime and come after you.

It's much like sliding on the ice and suddenly wanting to go in the opposite direction. It's impossible to do without having to slow down at first.

I do think that vultures should attack in swoops, rather than staying flying on you and perfectly turning. They're not hummingbirds that can suspend themselves in the air like a helicopter, after all. Sure, it might be easy to dodge them if they swoop through, but then you just have to increase their speed, and they'll be truly dangerous when you have to pay attention to closer enemies.

 
BTW, isn't that video mark "MM Gameplay" video from header ? or can we expect one more video release before that stage is over ?
That was more or less just a preview video not a madmole game play video. It will be greenified once madmole does a ligit gameplay from day 1 actually playing the game, not previewing stuff

 
That may sound great if you personally like keyboard steering by default. But if you like mouse steering by default, you'll be holding down a mouse button all the time. Setting it as a toggle will be easier on everyone's fingers, similar to making sprint a toggle instead of a hold. The downside of either setup, though, is that the mouse button can't then be used for other things, like firing a weapon from a vehicle.
Though I've never understood the hardship of having to hold down a button (they're not that hard to press :D ), I would suggest using something less likely to be used by accident. Maybe LBM+RMB instead of just left click? I'm sure you get the point. The same way it was quick to drop items with Q but you anoyingly ended up dropping valuable tools/weapons that you carefully organized on your belt simply by misplacing your hand on the keyboard.

(BTW, if we can remap it, I have no complaints.)

 
Of course everything I'm about to say is wrong to all the forum gods and worshippers here but here it goes anyway - a different viewpoint, gasp!
Good analysis. I fully agree with you.

I absolutely loved the video, and I appreciate the time and energy put into it.

But it's kinda showing that only one minor feature (grass under-water) gets added to the list of features on the first page after a video of half an hour..

 
Oh c'mon, he's the art guy... of course he's going to focus on the art stuff.

Prime did a video on his stuff, Kin used to do screenshots, maybe Faatal will get in on the action too... the only difference is MM is one of the 3 owners, so he doesn't have to ask permission.

and re-showing the things MM is most interested in. How many times have we seen him driving around? This is actually how I felt all A16, but I'm happy with whatever tidbits i can get.

Of course he's focusing on the art stuff. But does that mean relatively substantial portions of the upcoming update (quests/traits/skills) should be completely left out?

Again, I appreciate the video and all. Was good/entertaining to see.

that is the best and most honest word i can come up with.

i dread the drop of a17 because everything else will go on hold. not so bad as its winter down south and i just finished my day job major annual cycle work blah blah.

i hope the weather is crud august september.

apart from fishing weekends of course.

 
Hows the new stuff holding up in the RWG mixer? Like terrain building, altitude differences, POI setups.

Are there going to be massive changes within the RWG mixer at 17.xx or is it already in a more solid state right now?

 
Maybe these are not finished for public yet.
That could be true, of course.

Then again, not everything MM has shown over the past videos was finished for us yet, like the gyrocopter, or the car (IIRC).
