Could any dev or @Roland comment on this please?Is the safe behind the painting just a block downgrade? What about the underwater grass?
Can't comment on the painting and the safe. But the underwater grass is already answered on page one.

And another thing: I would propose changing mouse steering from toggle to hold left mouse. I can already imagine the confusion of forgetting which state you are in and accidentally turning instead of looking. When you have to hold LMB, it's easier. Just look around and press LMB to actually start turning there...
That may sound great if you personally like keyboard steering by default. But if you like mouse steering by default, you'll be holding down a mouse button all the time. Setting it as a toggle will be easier on everyone's fingers, similar to making sprint a toggle instead of a hold. The downside of either setup, though, is that the mouse button can't then be used for other things, like firing a weapon from a vehicle.

I agree 100% MM did play the game. Ergo, gameplay has be done and done pretty good... so good, it has a good smell, wouldn't you say?
Don't y'all want to see Madmole play some RWG and face a horde night or two? You know he's not going to delay a releasable build just for the sake of making more videos first. :p

Not having a dark inside / too much ambient light inside during the day ("AO system") is really reducing the atmosphere.Please turn that feature on again.
Again, while I think ambient occlusion in general is a fantastic feature, the shadows have been too dark in this game, artistically, and particularly on entities. This is the only game I play where I have to bump up the gamma from the default. I'd like to see AO come back, but I'm glad they're taking a stab at improving things, even if it's a 'band-aid' for now.

 
Of course everything I'm about to say is wrong to all the forum gods and worshippers here but here it goes anyway - a different viewpoint, gasp!

First I don't know how to make everyone truly believe I appreciate MM and the effort to make these videos... I really do... buttttt.

1) Navezgane again... I play random gen only... I may play Navezgane once post gold. I hope the devs don't lose focus on random gen. I don't care about a hand-made winding path or road shoulders in Navazgane. I'd love to know if these features are coming to random gen, along with all the new POI's in Perishton.

2) Lighting.. lighting... lighting.. lighting... and more lighting. Gameplay and content make the game good and make people want to play the next Alpha, not lighting. Lighting can be fixed in Beta or post gold for all I care. I mean, a year of development of A17 and slightly better lighting is one of the main attractions of the video? -- that scares me. I know this is probably a big insult to whoever worked on the lighting --- so I will say sorry now to get it over with.

3) I really didn't see much AI improvements on the walkers, I mean, It COULD actually be a lot better than it is now in A16.. and I have faith in faatal but the video didn't show much of it -- the vulture did seem kind of cool tho.

4) Nothing really new from previous videos.. more motorcycle.. more 4x4.. more perishton, more ragdoll, more heavy attacks, you get the picture.

Believe it or not I AM looking forward to A17, sometimes I have trouble not sounding condescending or like an @ss. But hey, nobody is perfect.

Well, I read that. But it doesn't really explain how it was done. Whether 2 things can stay in the same block now, or there is an exception for water, or any simpler explanation..

Read your post about your fears, but relax. Madmole was showing off what he wanted (he's an artist, remember?) What he showed were things and concepts with just a tiny smidge of gameplay. Now, if you crank up A17 when it's released and a quest is to catch butterflies you can be scared. But for now, figure out some new defences.

Is it just me or does the sound of the 4x4 not truly reflect the speed it was going, I feel like the sound made it sound like it was going super fast but the 4x4 was not moving any faster than the motorbike (by the looks of it). Hope this gets rectified as I was hoping the 4x4 would be the fastest way to travel. Any news on if it will be 2 or more seated?

I imagine that the animations are turned off at the moment for stuff like that and that will be fixed before release. It could also be the editor not being able to keep up with that stuff. Either way, I imagine the devs noticed it, and it probably bugs them too.

 
What i think would be cool, is seeing more realistic driving in general: taking time to accelerate, taking time to stop... Any car can go at least over 100mph and I feel like we're stuck at 25. I know the road is full of obstacles, but it would be so cool if we could choose to be reckless with our vehicles. Trying to think of how to control said speed on a pc is hard for me to imagine...

"W" is Gas, "S" is break. when you release the gas the car does not slow down. it only slows down when you push the break.

What do you think?

Also, running into things damages your player based on how many blocks you hit and how fast your going. so hitting one block (trash on the road) does little to no damage

Edit: FIRST PERSON VIEW!!! can see the dashboard (and acceleration)

Vultures

Madmole showed us a video about the new stuff. One of those things was the vulture attack.

I don't get it, the way that the bird attacked would not work at all. I mean it is flying fast and yet it can turn on a dime and come after you.

It's much like sliding on the ice and suddenly wanting to go in the opposite direction. It's impossible to do without having to slow down at first.
