playin through the "ages" always, to me, makes finding the next best thing feel more accomplished. With only 3 materials (stone, iron, steel) competing for time, each of those "ages" can feel long winded. So I could see the problem would be defining how much time a player should typically be in each of the "ages".

**edit: imo, the mods help blend each of those 3 "ages" together. So you have a tier "x" stone tool with mods on it, and some of those mods use iron in order to craft. Would bridge stone to iron, problem is it's cheaper to just craft a iron tool most times.

Pretty much this. We are doing broad strokes to see if we can get a working prototype of an actual primitive stage. If it works out, we can always address any immersion issues that come up, but changing every loot box right now when doing broad strokes is over thinking it. After a week or so when the primitive stuff falls off the loot table it will soon be forgotten IMO, and its a game, so logic doesn't matter when important game play is really much more important.

Hopefully there won't be a ton of steel tools in peoples hands by only 7 hours, but until we get to A20 there could be a few things that break the intended progression. We are making some adjustments today to help.
Thats great to hear, it would be nice if you guys can come up with a temporary fix to the trader quest loot as it somewhat undermines all of the good work you guys did with loot balance.  If not, we will live but does add a blemish to the awesome A19 package.

Not really. No need to let the realism police over think things. Leaving it vague is best for design and game play freedom. Long enough for modified zombie killing melee weapons to be found in loot, weapons to all be rusty/bandaged, and for traders to open up make shift tree house businesses that have franchised, and for two main players (duke and noah) to have emerged as strong organized forces in the area with differing beliefs.
So about six months?

A19 may mark the first time where I don't spend more than one point into The Daring Adventurer. I might not put any points into that perk nor Better Barter. (Okay, maybe Better Barter... But as per usual, I will not be buying tools or weapons from traders, nor will I be accepting them as quest rewards.)

Could we have something like this as a mod for the bow?

4-5 shots before reload, fast bow pull, can fire bolt.

Amazon must have the patent on the smiley face emoji too lol...
I heard about something like that, so probably. Lol I wouldn't be surprised, we live in an age where everything is owned by somebody, even the small things.

Actually, I was thinking about something more along the lines of this...

So would you say the overall focus is still on tweaking items or are you guys moved on to mostly bugfixes in preparation for the experimental build release?

In the past couple of Alphas you had been willing to give us an estimated count of bugs that needed fixing before the build was released, so hoping you will be able to do that again for us. 😁
We are doing a variety of things, polishing, tuning, bug fixing. There is no point of telling you how many MF's there are it changes constantly, and we are on the home stretch and things are looking good. No number on a forum post is going to speed it up or slow it down. Kraken comes when it is ready.

Speaking of stone shovels.. anyone else noticed the player was using the shovel sideways? he's not gonna pick much dirt that way... x)
also, the stone axe handle is rotated backwards. the curve shoud be pointing to the sharp side, not to the user.
I pointed this out like 6 times in streams so far and I've been ignored at every turn.

Are the loot tables blocking steel tools to appear in the first week, or is the chance just really low?
Steel is blocked for quite some time, but nothing is stopping you from crafting it if you find all the right stuff, or buying it or a possible quest reward.

Purple primitive items come pretty fast and I've kept them for a while due to them having decent stats plus 4 mod slots, so its not always an instant no brainer to throw it out.

I keep a stone axe on my toolbar even during end game.

-Cheap to make

-Cheap to repair

-Destroys stuff

-Repairs stuff

-it's on my toolbar just in case I run out of spears and can't retrieve the one's I've thrown until I get a gun

Just today we pushed the quality template out longer, removed guns, armor and tools from the tier one quest rewards, and yesterday we double the amount of quests turned in to advance to the next level. So now you will need to turn in 10 tier 1 quests to advance to tier 2 which is when guns/armor/tools start being offered as rewards. By the time you are getting to that, you should be finding tier 1 tools and weapons and not all primitive.

Don't be obtuse. There are many ways to draw smiles and that way is very thematically Amazon's way. I was only asking a question anyway, which as per usual, got ignored. I hope they crossed their Ts and dotted their Is.

Hi,

We have our charity streams starting next week. Are you going to be going ahead with the original plan of doing the streaming weekend this weekend (27/28 June) and then public release on the Monday (29th)? I am planning on doing a random gen world for the streams and from what i can tell the random gen is being improved with A19.

Being similar doesn't stand up in copyright courts. Ours is down turned, a different color and part of a sad face, and I imagine they have better things to do like we do. AFAIK you can even do a parody on something, call it Manazon if you felt like it, nothing they can do about it. Its intended to be funny, it's considered fair use.

YES. FUDGE YES. 10 quests per tier, that I've been asking for the past alpha (well, 2 alpha now, gotta get used to that). Thank you.

Fair enough.
