Hey Survivalists,

 

On Wednesday June 24th at 9pm CST we will continue our developer series with Lathan Meadows hosting an interview of our programmers Shawn Liptak (faatal), Robert Dishong (Kinyajuu), Zack Roberts, Steve Dudek, and Effects Artist, Ryan Raner. These guys KNOW whats up from topics regarding AI, Pathing, Random World Generation, Dynamic Music, the Buff System, Physics, Spawning, pretty much everything that is under the hood. These guys will talk about what they have been working on and then will take questions. This IS the stream to watch to know the answers to all your "WHY?!?!?!" questions regarding how the game works and what is possible.

 

And maybe they can also dispense some wisdom to anyone who is trying to break into the business.

I wonder if town generation has been changed in A19. Size, density, shape, quantity.

But it seems that the theme of this stream's QA is currently water. Water, water, water...

Edit: Nevermind, it got much better. :D

With the TFP playthrough 1:

MM is the best SP and I like how he prioritizes things.

TFP is the best MP.

Lathin is the best streamer.

For me, it would be good if TFP did a guest appearance this weekend.

MM should do a solo lets play this weekend, if he has the time.

 
Lots of really good questions this round!

Junk Drone and maybe Junk Sledge confirmed to not scale off Int attribute or Tech Junkie perk, rip

New Music sounds great, and lots of possibilities there including boss zombie music if we ever get some bosses!

Faatal says the dreaded "Rescope after reload" bug might be fixed so you don't get killed every time you try to use the hunting rifle!!

Junk Drone looked really good, but they weren't too sure about some of the things. @madmole one of the questions they weren't sure about was how Junk Drone works in respect to your overall turret limit. They were thinking it's just 1 drone per player and that it didn't affect the turret limit, which is interesting, but they weren't sure. Do you know?

I go back to my original assessment that imo you should be able to place 2 junk sledges, 2 turrets, and then just have a drone. If each had it's own cap I don't think it would be that crazy, at least not based on how the current Junk Sledge seems to perform and scale. Late game even 2 of them don't seem like they would be all that massive of an addition to what your dual junk turrets were already cranking out

 
Bow does 3.5x sneak damage with no perks. You just have to know how to use it.
I'm liking that bow change. People should use what suits their play style, not expect weapons to adapt to them.

Would be interesting to know what the actual timeline should be.

Canned food can survive 5 years. But a lot of buildings have damages that look way older, and some are very pristine.

Is there some time-since-the-apocalypse that you aim for in the design?
Canned food can survive way longer than that. The dates are conservative. I've eaten plenty of 12 or 15 year old canned food.

There's an issue in A18 where if you try sprinting while ADS, the weapon disappears but you're still technically aiming down its sights. Has this been fixed for A19?

Edit: I discovered this issue with the compound crossbow, I don't know how many weapons it affects.
