MM,

Has RWG creation times been greatly reduced for 18?

Asking because thought I would generate a new map to play on 17 for the next few weeks and it is now going on 2+ hours and still not done. :)

I have 2700+ hours playing this game. I mainly lurk and read here.

Thanks,

Chris

No. How is shooting a screamer or her friends cheating?
I'm neither agreeing nor disagreeing with their statement here, but I think they were referring to active screamer farming.

For real through, my position on the topic? If someone wants to artificially raise their gamestage and potentially cause some headaches for themselves down the road by farming out screaming hordes, well, you do you.

I don't think it will be necessary in A18 anyway, what with the removal of levelgates and such. (:

I already said instead of spending time on ruling out one 'safe' means of play you could have spent your time on implementing and improving more pressing issues.
And with the greatest of respect, MadMole, my rooftop safety point wasn't to have a go at you. I was simply pointing out that if the no safe haven policy applies to underground then it should equally apply to rooftop building.

I would have fixed it all or fixed nothing until there was sufficient time to do so, and by fixing I mean nullifying any means of a 'safe' haven.

Instead what happened was rooves are untouched, and the Cheesemakers are back, and the reimplementing took time that in my humble opinion would have been better spent.

And as for your 'go away or play something else' comment.

Sure. Just be sure to issue a full refund 😁

Edit: you mentioned modding, does that mean you will at least allow for zombie digging to be turned off by a modder?

Again, a genuine question because I have no idea how modding works.
Rooftops are not safe, several team members mentioned close calls with them. I only used one on day 7, then I built my own base which is like a rooftop (I'm sure you've seen it) and they raided it and I died

Cheesemakers only make cheese if you let them (No above ground defense)

Sure anyone can mod it out right now. Its not xml though, you'll need to hack some dll's together to change some functions or write you own pathing, etc. Not worth it when you can just log out or disable zeds. Hell you could hack spawning xml to spawn corpse blocks instead or air etc. No hordes then. A million ways to do it, aside from disable digging. Even that would work, you could make them do crap damage against the dirt blocks easily, or no damage. SO they would beat on the dirt all night and not get anywhere, that is a good 10 minute mod job to a novice IMO.

If it takes 2 hours for you to generate a world, then something is up. Just saying.

As for using electricity. I never use electricity. I rarely create a base. I play almost entirely nomad style in pvp or solo. I enjoy the survival and exploration. So lots of things people are complaining about have no effect on me. Could care less about electricity or farming. I always block entrance into a poi I am looting and clearing and make a second exit in case door I came in becomes swamped. Always have a plan b. I look forward to the new challenge of 18. Stick to your guns MM. Lots of us long time players are here for the entire ride. I bought this game for $10, 2700+ hours later I think I got my money's worth. I also bought this for 5 other people and got another 15 or so to play as well.

How many MF's left?

Chris

the rock guy would like what you said XD
.. somebody called?

Lol thanks man.. love you straight back!

Not the same as SnowDog, but that's for the better, i guess.

As I pointed out, although I was correcting a misunderstanding about that playstyle it's not actually one that I still have.
Currently, my friends and I...

...do that.

We don't find mining fun, and we don't find building huge bases fun. And while we don't struggle with horde nights, we don't fnd them (and especially the resource gathering and re-building that is required afterwards) fun either. For us, those things are just a chore that - in previous alphas - had to be put up with in order to get to the fun parts of the game: hunting, scavenging, looting, and crafting.

So we now play without horde night and spend all our time doing the things we enjoy; instead of having to spend half the time doing things we didn't enjoy just to progress the game. We build just a modest overground base that we manually protect (we don't bother with turrets or complex traps, just spikes) from wandering hordes and screamers.

A lot of people would find this playstyle boring, but then we find all the preparation for and aftermath of horde night boring. It's good that the game is flexible enough that we can all enjoy it in different ways.
There is nothing wrong with that. Its like Fallout, you can be a nomad or choose to build a small base or a mega base, or series of bases with settlers all networked together for supply sharing and stuff.

We're all for choices that add replay value, or simulation controls that add stuff.

I like the entire experience. Hordes are interesting and there are enough bullets to have fun shooting them now, so its a nice adrenaline rush. There is increased chance to drop loot by zombies in A18 so the rewards can be very nice too.

It should be, we offload work to the gpu now and its image based instead of a bunch of math, so it looks better and less bugs.

I don't do it deliberately unless I'm close to leveling and I have plenty of ammo. Mining is just as fast, but I like practicing my aim, I haven't used a sniper rifle since the Ak hit the game.
