Indeed I do. But the truth is there is no statistical data here-- just personal experiences being extrapolated onto the world by everyone.
My feeling is that I would like more interesting complex farming. Minecraft is simple and it is a very simple mechanic to have to farm within four blocks of a water voxel that adds a bit of complexity that our game doesn't. I wouldn't mind other more complex aspects of farming to be added that others have lamented as "unexplored potential"

But seriously, the vanilla game can be simple as long as it allows for being made complex by mods. Modding is the answer for complexity and gracious fans and modders will recognize the genius of TFP's simple vanilla framework as the springboard while others will call TFP's game crap and bless the modders for saving it.

Who hasn't played a mod that had A, B, C, D, E, and F in it and you wish it only had A and B for whatever reason? The vanilla game should be simple yet infinitely expandable. If TFP does their job right then a modder will be able to turn this game into "Harvest Blood Moon" for like-minded fans who want seasons, irrigation, 50 crop types, crop quality, disease, 3 tiers of hoes, 3 tiers of watering cans, etc etc

At any rate, I have fond memories of the various iterations of farming I got to experience and tonight I'm going to try the latest and see if it really is 100% of TFP or 99.9999% that absolutely loves the change.....
Again this is before my post about complexity and rewards, usability etc. The complaints are from nostalgia, not experience. Farming is not complicated, so why make it tedious? The reward is a single crop without perks, and a boatload of work, tools, to get started in previous versions of the game. The complexity of the design needs to match the reward. Its harder to plant a single crop in pre 18 than it is to crack a vault and get a nice payload of weapons.

That said the game is too difficult where it should be easy, and too easy where it needs to be harder. So those complaining can look forward to harder safes to crack and more complex recipes for higher quality items.

The complexity needs to match the reward, and no matter what the design is the usability needs to be top notch, hoeing the dirt and planting on rough terrain was never very usable.

For me this Game needs 2 main Gamemodes.

The first one : more arcade : shotter /perks /tower defense /craft awesome gear / bosses

Focus in building and power Up the character. You are the King of the world

The second:more survival : less hud info / very scare food, bullets, and gas / perks points per Days survived / less crafting capabilities. /Best loot in worst places

Focus in exploration/nomad life and resourse management.the world is a nasty place.

Maybe down the road.

Amen to a stable voice on the matter.
hey your hand is on the stick so reap the whirlwind murphy, reap it. anywho cheers. I think I've been a positive ambassador of this game. I got my $ worth so I guess I don't have any right to complain. To be described as in a group of "but hurt" or not "stable" is pretty shocking. just a heads up...dude

♥♥♥♥. Now I have to find a new vague and abstruse puzzle to guess wrong. Need something to fill the void.... uh, what's that MF count at again?

As big as you want them they are a dynamic box that grows if you place more cubes together.
Ohh, very interesting! So I'm assuming you craft one box at a time and as you place them together they merge together seamlessly? Or do you use the nitrate, rotten flesh, etc. to craft a box as big as you want? I'm assuming it's the former.

You’re welcome. I enjoyed the bit of xpath modding I did. Be sure to let me know who you are when you com back as an alt so I can rep you. ;-)
If he issues an apology for calling 18 crap and admits the new farming is awesome (once 18 drops) he can come back.

Conventional Ralston: individual difficulties, not server-set(not sure if this is the case, actually. haven't bothered to find a good server since my buds moved on. They are gaming butterflies.)
OR: dynamic/modifiable difficulty
Oh this guy is so close.

Madmole

For the runaway if hurt, I used the torch, with a burn chance

buff for the animals. If they survived they would charge back

but i was ready to fight.

So crop wise, after playing, would you like to show the darker

side of the apocalypse. Sort of an artificed advanced timeline,

Or is it an optimization compromise, for the grow cycle of all

the plants everywhere in the biome. So this will kind of simple

control for excess processing calc.

I kind of understand, some of the responses. You created a game

that started as a single simple concept. In one of my first posts

I stated the potential that i saw. You didn't mean to but you

created a Multigenre game, while many others focused on a single

demographic, 7DTD opened the door to crafting, farming,

construction/destruction, survival, fps, 3rd person shooter, RTS,

RTT, and Tower defense, this is not all of them.

For farming When I worked at a circuit mftr for Motorola chips,

there were people that would risk getting fired, hijack the company

internet just so they could update their their farm plot so it would

not die. To them it was a huge deal, and they would cry and or rage

which was unsettling as ^%$* being in a closed, cleanroom environment.

I only post this to show how strong a draw many of the aspects of this

game includes.

So when you relect, and or retroflect, on some of the responses, Just

remember what Genie said in Aladdin you have to put "all that colossal

power in an itty bitty living space". You all have done a damn good job

so far.

The game is basically a playable MRI processor.

This is what i wrote 2 years ago, and it has only grown.

Maybe a video of the new farming, to cool some tits?

How far are you into your perception playthrough?

I dont know about anyone else, but I'm gonna wait and play A18 before I complain about a feature change.
Thank you. I always reserve judgement until I try something. Even for pos like Fallout 76, they still got my money but I am hopeful that they will polish it to something I want to play for at least 200 hours if not more.

I mean ok so to me if someone changes a 1% feature I'm not going to ♥♥♥♥ bricks about it. Farming is at best .01% of your time spent in the game, and for certain the usability is way better. (the actual planting and harvesting is very nice now)

I was in the desert. Coyotes are not hard to kill but sneak up and ninja bleed, kinda bs, we're working on improving that. I started a new char same map, spawned in the forest and got rekt by wolves in the same situation, fighting zombies, back pedaling to stay out of hit range (the brawler you just plow forward and eat shots, who cares you aren't getting infected) so my spear kept me at range but I'd back into a nest of wolves and get bleed, and bleed out or get bit too much in a short time and die. It was too cheap.
that is because your bleed debuff <if the same from a17.4> is on crack. every bleeder is a hit to the carotid. instead you should vary the amount of time they bleed, not every wound needs to be a gusher, thats as bad as your example of every room always having 10 zeds.

The problem I had with the hoe was after I hoed my garden, maybe 5 minutes time, I had no use for the hoe ever again. So used it for 5 minutes then either melted or sold every one I found thereafter. Something in a game that's only useful for 5 minutes is hard to justify. That was my issue with farming, not it being complicated or not complicated. Why waste the time on an object with so little use? I don't know about the new system, I'll have to play it first but getting rid of a pretty useless tool is good in my humble opinion.
Yes good point, another factor in our decisions. Its not dumbed down, its different and definitely more elegant and easier to learn.

Ahh okay, good change! I know that farm plots spawn rather excessively in 17.4 so this wouldn't be an accurate representation based on intended spawning rules, but in my current world, I have over 600 potatoes... and I haven't planted a single one. I just have over 600 potatoes sitting in a chest that I punched from those naturally generated small crop plots within towns. It's a little bit too easy, so I'm glad to see it being made more challenging. ^^
I think they have been thinning crops here and there.

Keep the hoe as a grass removal tool...
Tier 1: Hoe

Tier 2: Scythe

Tier 3: Gas Powered Weed Eater

Legendary: Rider Mower
Which is why its commented out. IN the future I want it to raise/lower terrain density and clear grass in a huge area.

He wasn’t referring to everyone who disagrees with the change. He was specifically talking about the few who were getting emotionally charged and spelling the game’s doom before even trying it. From your post history I know you’ll at least try it before making final judgement.

Madmole’s just defending his “metal sculpture” so to speak. You can forgive a man for that, eh...?
