I think it's good 2 shot stone with perks and tools at maximum level, and 1 shot stone with the book. Seems reasonable
confirmed... paper is stronger then stone... 1 shotting stones with books hmmmm seems strange but ok, words can be powerful :)

The written word is very powerful right? Plus, in rock, paper, scissors, which one wins against rock? Ha!

I probably never noticed because I iron site and don't see my stamina bar. I thought we had it in there.
Interesting, that I decided to test as I'm in-game now, and only now do I notice that the it does drain stamina when drawing it. Now simply aiming down, but actually drawing it. I think the problem though is that it differs from the crossbow, with the crossbow just by simply aiming down sights, the stamina goes down and quite fast I'd say compared to the wooden bow and compound bow.

2) Lack of hospitals - Again from a google search I'd say just for Oahu only have 5 hospitals and even then they'd be swarmed with wounded and infected. Some of the hospitals in the google search, might not even have emergency rooms or are hospitals in the sense that they used to be one.

3) Farmland - This is Oahu specific as the Big Island has all the farms, but again, during a zombie outbreak and after with most of the farms for Oahu on the west side, those live in town (think tourist area), are going to be at a disadvantage.
Just a comment on these two points: Hospitals are probably not that important in a zombie apocalypse (in comparison with other epidemics or disasters) because all the different lore in books and movies agrees on one thing: There is no broadly available cure or treatment method. Putting infected in anything but a cage or a grave is suicide. And tropical islands should have a lot of natural food sources besides acriculture, i.e. lots of tropical fruit trees, berry bushes, animals. On top of the sea food you already mentioned

Haven't been to forums much lately but I like what I'm seeing.
Random stats FTW! I was hoping this would happen some day :)

And I'm also getting excited for this whole "classic RPG" style progression where specialization is viable without missing out on big chunks of content.
Yes I am having the most fun in years. I LOL every time a zombie walks out a 2 story building and ragdolls on his landing. That and the new combat aggro speed boosts have made this game so much better, and the progression and balance are starting to feel legendary.

Any plans to give Armor the random stat ranges treatment that you're giving to weapons and tools?
All items with quality have random stats. Even clothes do now, despite not having quality.

Irrelevant. Tying mining to specific combat styles does not help the progressions system. That is a major problem with a17.
So lets just delete attributes and have ala cart perks like ark? No thanks.

There could be a “tripple shot” option for the bow, shooting 3 arrows at the same time, low accuracy, with a similar effect as the shotgun.
Make the bow more useful when shooting into a crowd.
Or just use the exploding arrows? Explosions actually work now so I think they will gain popularity in A18.

Crossbow has definitely lost its appeal with its slow draw. Removing stamina penalty altogether would be a start in making it worthwhile again.

Madmole, when can we watch some video? or see images of new things? Do you want the new zombie?
I could care less about the demolisher right now, I'm obsessed with progression and looting.

It's still a good weapon for stealth. With Boom Headshot and Hidden Strike at maximum I can kill even the most radioactive zombies with a targeted head shot from my fully modded Q6 crossbow. The advantage of the crossbow over the bow is that you can attach a 2x scope to the crossbow. So the crossbow is much more accurate.

At that point in the game Id rather a sniper rifle

Perhaps when feathers become scarce crossbows will come into its own. Though, currently compound fires so quick and powerful with perks its the go to.

You might want to do a little research on that.
Longbows and crossbows have many differences but when it comes to range and power they're pretty evenly matched.

The longbow should be harder to aim without putting points in the archery skill and drain more stamina when drawn. This is balanced by the crossbows terrible rate of fire.

I didn't put much thought into it, but what you suggest would work, but people might have a cow if drawing the bow took stamina, but I like the idea of it. Skyrim's does.
I'm not sure this will help any. But I for one really like this idea! Makes a lot of sense!

The pen is mightier than the pick!
Depends totally on your time frame.

On short time frames, the pen is really not that powerful.

Unless its situational or somthing like a signature.

On long time frames though. The written word, and even images, can be very powerful indeed.
