Current public version v2.0.2

Intro: After the outbreak started the survivors immediately started to notice that the infected are attracted to heat. After a few months, most of the world was infected and the only places left free of infection were the coldest areas on earth. Canada's prime minister opened the borders to any and all survivors seeking solace. Survivors came, the American and other military's of the world set up many base camps and for a while everything went back to normal. Then, the virus mutated. The infection broke out again. Now you are one of the last non infected humans in the world.

about: Welcome to Canada is an original 7 days to die mod. You are spawned into the frozen northern wilderness of Canada and must survive the cold weather and many many Zeds. This mod focuses heavily on (what i would consider) more realistic crafting. Aside from crafting snow blocks, wooden club, and a few other recipes, EVERYTHING must be crafted in a workstation. No more crafting frames and arrows in your pocket while fighting zeds, now you must prepare before leaving home.

Download and Install: It is recommend that you use the 7d2d mod launcher to play this mod, you can find the mod in the mod list under "Welcome to Canada". If you are unable to use the mod launcher here is a direct download of the full mod.

Welcome to Canada 2.0 Full (mirror 1)

If you are a server admin you will need these files for your server. Players do not need these files.

Welcome to Canada 2.0 Server Files (mirror 1)

Game Modes:

Standard Install: The mod how it was intended to be played.

Easy Mode: The same as the regular mod but with far less zombies. For those who find the standard install too challenging.

Romero Edition: A mode based on the zombies from George A. Romero's movies. Must sever brain stem to kill, zombies only walk in this version no matter the settings. Many more zombies than normal. Better starting gear.

Game mode install info:

Changes in 2.0: There are too many changes to name them all but here are some of the highlights and the rest can be surprises. :)

- SDX added to the mod. This mean new items, weapons, vehicles, and other new models.

- New opening menu and loading screens

- Water is now frozen. This opens up some cool options for underground ice palaces.

- New Random World Generator, so it isn't the same thing over and over.

- New custom Zombie skins for a few of the zombies.

- New Advanced workbench for everything Steel and above.

- Advanced blacksmithing including the ability to craft damascus steel to make many popular swords, polearms, axes and more.

- Wussy Edition added to mod for those who find it too hard. Find the instruction in the "RJextra" folder within the mod.

- Concrete requires buckets of water to mix. You can now use a bucket to pick up snow to use in concrete (since water is ice)

- New ammo types for crossbow, Rebar bolts. They are heavy and drop fast but if you make it hit, they pack a punch.

- Added some goodies for pvp/multiplayer fun and fright. Snowball launcher for all your snowball fight needs. Make rockets filled with beer that will get almost anyone sick drunk. Some of the weapons have devastating buffs to other players and more!

- Added SDX mods by Sphereii: ZombieTransmogrifier, CustomCategories, EntityPlayer, TakeAndReplace

- Sooooooo much more. Get out there and explore!

Note: Due to the density of the forests, the amount of Zeds spawned, and the fact the zed bodies stay until you get rid of them, This mod can lean towards the resource heavy side of things. I find it runs smoother than some of the big mods out there but regardless, if you find you are experiencing lag then try turning your draw distance settings down in the options in game.

The Minibike: Vehicles in Canada need to be warmed up before you drive them. Here are the instructions for the minibike:

- Hop on and turn on lights

- Hop off with lights still on

- count to 5

- Now your bike is warm, go man go!

Updates: I update Welcome to Canada quite often. It's very difficult for me to offer support for outdated version of the mod so Please try to stay up to date! The best way to do this is by checking the box titled "Refresh Mods Automatically" below the "play mod" button on the 7d2d Mod Launcher.

THANK YOU: This mod uses the simple ui by stedman420, thank you stedman420. Big thanks to Fun Pimps and the creators of ravenhearst, tazas grave, cb mod, and wotw for writing code that acted as great examples. Massive thank you to SphereII for creating such great tools for modding 7d2d. Thanks to HaidrGna and Max Fox! More thanks: Dust2Death

Known Issues:

Problem: FATAL ERROR: Block id=1680 used a texture id 6 that is not in the atlas!

Causes: The files didn't get patched during install. This is usually caused by installing the mod launcher version outside of the launcher.

Solution: If you installed the launcher version outside of the launcher then simply download the full version from the previous post, that will fix the problem. If you are receiving this error and you installed and played through the launcher, please contact me so we can figure out what is wrong.

Tips:

Opening Quests: Always open your starter crate first. Then try to start and complete your opening quests as soon as you can. It will walk you through some of how the mod works and introduce you to some of the recipe changes.

Builders: If you love to build, try using Snow, Ice, Stainless Steel, or Titanium blocks to start your build. They contain more shapes than any of the other block types. This gives you more options to build with.

The Machete: Where's my axe dude? Well in Welcome to Canada there is no beginner axe. The machete is a fantastic multi-tool that Kills, Chops Wood, And Harvesters animal flesh! If you need a new machete, find a working stiffs store.

Spears and Halberds: Want to keep the zombies at bay while saving on ammo? Try crafting a spear or Halberd. At a lengthy 10 meters (one and a half players) they will give you a much longer reach than any of the other melee weapons. You will need the advanced workbench and a power hammer as well as finding books to learn to craft damascus steel and unlocking a few skills with your points.

Farming: Trying to get some seeds to start farming? You will need to craft an advanced workbench and buy or find yourself a grinder tool. Large equipment like the grinder can be purchased at Stuff N' Things. The advanced workbench requires you find and read "Advanced Workbenches and You" to craft.

Buckets of Water: With most water in the mod being frozen, you may wonder how to gather buckets of water. There are a few different ways. You can melt snow or ice chunks in the fire. You can find buckets of water inside wells and water towers. Or you can even use an empty bucket to scoop up some snow. NOTE: Buckets of water are important in this mod as you need water to make concrete mix.

The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch: Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it." -- In short, should you encounter this item, Throw it FAR away from you and prepare for gods rath. (recommend practicing in creative mode)

Just reading that part made me want to say EH!

Now you just need Moose and Beaver instead of Deer and Pigs.

And I truly wish counting to 5 was really long enough to warm a vehicle... :D

Heh Thanks Gamida! We do have deer in Canada but yeah it would be amazing to get those animals into my mod! Definitely something I want to do :D

lol, yup know about the deer here (am in Newfoundland) I was just thinking that most of world associates us with moose more than deer, or at least I get that impression.

I may have to give the mod a go if I get some time.

lol Alberta, here they call it the other Newfoundland...or at least Fort McMurray they do...

Great mod Ryan altho did make it only through first day. A little too much Z's for my taste but that doesn't mean I will not give it a try. As soon I find some time, probably this weekend.

Looking forward to see what new will be put in mod in the future. Awesome work.

Hey thank you! Although the despair that comes along with sooo many zombies was 100% intentional. I'm well aware that the amount of Zeds really turns some folks off and I do want to address that. After alpha17 comes out I will be releasing an "easy" version of the mod along side the standard version and lite version. It's important to me that there is a version of this mod to suit almost everyone. For now though, I suggest that you maybe drop down a difficulty level or two from what you are used to? :D Thanks!

Eyan is there anyway you can make the mod available for direct download? :)
Currently no, the patch files handled by the launcher make the difference between the mod being 13 megs (currently) or 2 gigs as it would be without patching. I really don't want to offer a public download of that size. That said, after the mod is installed through the launcher the files are patched and it can be played outside of the launcher or moved to a different system. Are you a Linux user?

no im a windows 10 user bu i cant download the mod launcher even with the youtube tutorials and i cant figure out why either

You are welcome and you deserve it. Don't get me wrong, it suits your mod to have more Z's but my 'skill' could be the problem as I already playing at default difficulty and my panic attacks during game makes it even worse. :D It's the same as me playing Ravenhearts all over again and I have to tell that I didn't die once in like 70-80 days there.

Anyway, thanks again for the mod and wish you very best in future development. ;)

Oh weird, I assume you've spoken to the mod launchers creator about this? There is a contact link on the mod launchers official site.

Okay blazer, will do. :-) I see some of the other devs have figured out how to patch their files in without the launcher, so perhaps I can ask one of them for help, or if anyone reading knows how, feel free to give me a shout! Thanks! :D
