1. For two years they could not say if "legacy" console would get a discount. We did...an offer of 25% off for 30 days only. We were told that it would be a very long time before we would see it on sale again...which I guess means less than 3 months, because new players have already been offered a 20% off discount. So I guess Legacy really got a 5% discount...so generous.

2. You won't see it on Game Pass anytime soon...lol...except the brand new game pass ultimate beta that just launched

3. RWG and Crossplay "sooner than you think" and "out by the Holidays"...well...you can say Xmas is not here yet...true...but that would be end of Q4 and not "sooner than we think".

By the timing of these announcements, People took that post to mean American Thanksgiving, so where is the small patch update? It was promised SEPARATE from Storm's Brewing. Which is also due Q4. I'm am a little concerned about the lack of time left to meet the first roadmap deadlines. Let me guess... they have no responsibility... because...all dates are subject to change.

Further communication is required. Maybe they can program the animatronic zombie bear to deliver the message since they lack the temerity to honestly address the people this will affect most: console gamers.

1. I don’t remember the new console edition being announced 2 years ago. Links to these statements? Plus I don’t see a lie here. When they could they told us there was a discount for us and I got it. Totally happy with my 25% totally fine that they were able to get it discounted for Halloween.

2. Situations changing isn’t a lie. Who said it wouldn’t make it to game pass soon? Were they just guessing?

3. You assumed something and when it didn’t meet your assumptions that’s a lie? Look I kept watching development after the first console version collapsed. One thing I learned is deadlines smedlines. They get exited, want to get out the new shiny things as soon as possible, and should never mention dates. The mantra is it will be done when it’s done. I’m hoping it will get here sooner rather than later but I can wait for later. I’m a patient dude.

1: So...they still gave you a discount when they didn't have to. Why complain? Oh yeah, that's what console users seem to be good at.

2: Was TFP aware of a new Game Pass coming out? Doubt it.

3: They basically mean before the Storm's Brewing update. So as long as it comes before that, then that's what they meant. But sure, keep over exaggerating just to try and prove a meaningless point. And what "people" are you referring to that thought that "sooner than you think" meant Thanksgiving? What lead you to assume that? Sounds like a you problem there.

the first time I heard talk about a discount for "legacy" console owners articulated, was in a Guns,Nerds, and Steel interview from 2022

2. Situations changing isn’t a lie. Who said it wouldn’t make it to game pass soon? Were they just guessing?
The situation did not change...TFP said it would not be going on game pass "anytime soon" before relaunch at the end of July. roughly 4 months ago.

3. You assumed something and when it didn’t meet your assumptions that’s a lie? Look I kept watching development after the first console version collapsed. One thing I learned is deadlines smedlines. LOL. what did I get wrong? people, myself included, did assume that "sooner than you think" and "before the holidays" meant Thanksgiving. Xmas is the end of Q4 so...where was the bad assumption?

I don't share your attitude towards deadlines. There was already enough missing for console on launch...This game is literally named 7 Days to Die 1.0 Console edition. People can continue to deny that this doesn't mean it was primarily aimed at and for console players, but, that is just silly...if you are a PC guy...great. I get why you give TFP a break...you have had several versions to play...you are used to them not meeting self imposed deadlines. I don't. I am a console gamer...I don't have a lot of charity left for TFP.

Seems a lot of PC and console gamers do not see this situation in the same light.

If the roles were reversed I expect your attitude would be different.

They did say it would not go on game pass or on any sale for at least a year or more during the dev streams pre launch.

ON point 1, 2 or 3 ...what did I exaggerate?

I used to play primarily on console, but then I decided to not be limited by companies on what I can do, and paying extra to play online got old fast. I don't ever see going back. It's simply picking an inferior option in my eyes. I haven't put any more money into this PC since I built it than I would have buying the last 2 generations of consoles. Plus all the extra things I can easily do on PC that consoles simply can't do, or do as easily. And of course...mods.

Obviously something changed in regard to the Game Pass statement. Why? Who knows. Not really sure why it's something to get bent out of shape over. Did you buy the game? If so, why do you care? I'd rather buy the game and not worry about it potentially getting taken off of Game Pass at some point.

And if you've been around for any amount of time, you'd know TFP rarely meets dates. It doesn't even bother me anymore. I'd rather them get it to a state they are happy with and then release rather than crunch and potentially send out a half broken update. Getting worked up over them not releasing an update when you assumed it would come out is just a silly waste of time. Maybe stop assuming things? Just because "people" made that assumption doesn't mean you have to.

Okay I am goin by what was announced here and the first I heard of the new console edition was in the Version 1.0 announcement back in February. If it was announced here earlier then my apologies. Don’t watch streamers but if you link it I’ll take a look.

Yeah the situation changed. They were able to get it on soon. Do you have proof it was a lie that they had always planned to get it on sooner?

You assumed which holiday before the holidays meant. Don’t care how many y’all thought that that’s on you. I’m going by their original thoughts of by end of Q4 2024. If they miss it well I’d rather have a missed deadline than a janky release. But at that point I could understand you being upset.

Did you read all I wrote? I told you I got the 25% discount for legacy console. So yeah I’ve had 2 versions to play. One I really enjoyed, around 600-700 hours, and this console edition which is so much better than Tell Tales version. Best thing that happened was them going under and TFP getting the game back. I’m on day 393 of my first map so not sure what you mean by enough missing at launch. I give TFP a break because I don’t blame them like you for the first one and like I said I’m a patient guy. I’m fine with them taking their time getting things right. After all this is the first game they have released on console and it has become one of my all time favorites. So yeah I’ll give them break.

I used to play on PC...I don't enjoy playing on a keyboard...to each his own. They both have positives and negatives.

PC gamers have gotten a lot of content and time out of this game...we have not. The lack of RWG and crossplay is a lot to do without. All the other updates will be nice, like bandits and story, but, they are secondary to getting RWG.  I get why PC gamers don't care...not much has happened during this games history that has impacted YOUR ability to enjoy the game.

we paid twice...can't you see why we are not in the mood to keep waiting?

Are you honestly saying YOU would not be insulted if you were in our position? "legacy" console owners effectively got a 5% discount. That's it. and only had 30 days to use it. we didn't get to wait to see what the state of the game was. You don't think people would have waited longer if that wasn't a condition? game was not supposed to go on game pass any time soon. I would have waited longer. No rwg was almost a deal breaker, but, I did not want to lose my discount. Steam numbers back me up, this was like an average Alpha release on PC...the numbers are already back down to 30k daily pc players.

This update set the most players by a pretty good amount, like 30k more than when A21 released, and that was just Steam and not console players. Obviously those numbers drop over time, duh.

You can't direct your anger of having to buy the game twice at TFP. It isn't their fault how the original console release played out. You had 30 days, but you didn't get to see what the state of the game was? How long would that take you? That's plenty of time to know whether you wanna play it or not. And TFP didn't have to do a discount at all, but they did. Now was the amount or time limit their idea? Maybe, who knows. They repeatedly mentioned difficulties trying to work with MS and Sony. And as you have said, it is now on sale so even if you waited you could still get it cheaper. Anyone knows this game goes on sale all the time. Always has.

Either way, why come here and whine about it? What are you hoping to accomplish? Just go play the game. Or don't.

OG owner on a disc so I got no discount, played split screen with wife, so purchased twice, has game pass and while I did not like how old version was handled by fun pimps I was still cool with dropping full price to have day one as even with base wiped several times i still enjoyed it. 19 real world days of play, wife with over 12 days at 80 bucks that translates to ten cents per hour in costs. Would i have liked a better pay back for first one or on game pass day one sure, but it going on sale now or game pass now, i dont mind

When I saw random maps, weather and cross play in q4 update I figured from how last version was this meant April 2025 and likely only 2 out of 3 features added when they said sooner... i fugured maybe Valentine's day 2025. Would I like it today sure, but I would rather wait till it works with no bugs. Till then I have paused playing and picked up Smalland and return to moria while i wait for new maps

Take a deep breath I'm sure you will get your money's worth from this game

Since we are just going to be insulting each other...how about next time you see a console player post....just maybe don't interact with it? I deleted a bunch of stuff that was petty and unnecessary I had written here.

Replayability is the only reason there has ever been  heat around this game...we don't get many games that have that much value...you guys have already played the @%$# out of the game and will defend it to the death...we have not.

I would point out that you guys got new skins and new progression updates Alpha after Alpha, but, are there bandits in the game yet? a story? working weather and temperature? nope. The steam numbers around those releases reflect going 1.0. TFP has not added to anything in the last 4 years that has noticeably increased replayability on PC. (by the numbers) but you guys just don't see it that way. To me it's like you guys got the first 50% of the game like 6 times...and are super happy about how it worked out for you...basically a new game year after year...and to me...you guys just kept accepting half a game over and over. reworks and new skins ain't really new content.

Why come here and lay out my opinion? This is the 7 Days to Die site. I paid for the game...yes...twice...TFP's name is in the credits for both versions I bought. That's why I do not grant them absolution for telltales collapse.

If I wanted to be generous I could say "it sucks consoles gamers have had to pay for TFP's education in game production". I am sure they learned a lot from that first time, when they did not protect themselves or the console gamers, that must have been hard on their egos. Plus, 7 dtd was the second most popular game telltale ever launched, TFP knew to the penny how much money they lost selling the console version to telltale for the money to keep working on their passion project, The PC version. It has been long contested that Telltale really just wanted the console base game as a vehicle for all of their Walking Dead IP. Personally, I think it would've been wild to see how the games would have potentially deviated from each other...if that was true...which I am just pointing out was speculated a lot in the console world.

Combined with deleting entire forums and turning off comments...some people have a hard time seeing TFP positively, but, we do love the game. It's why I take it personally at all. I assume it's the same for you.

LOL...I also bought mines of moira, started playing rust again ( I know...degenerate behavior)...even if we disagree...thanks for how you did.

I don't mind seeing PC players with opinions and adding to the conversation in consoles forum. But it does get old seeing PC elites calling those that have a opinion other than fun pimps are awesome whiners...

If you don't play on consoles and have nothing to add why post here?

I love the game and got my money out of it but we are playing a inferior version than you and from time to time a console player will need to rant a bit and it should be allowed without attacks

TFP's name is in the credits for both versions I bought. That's why I do not grant them absolution for telltales collapse.
Uh, yeah, it's their IP. Of course they will be credited. But they had no input on how TellTale ran their studio, which is what ultimately caused their downfall. How can you put any of that on TFP? At that point TellTale had been growing for the last several years. You think if TFP knew what was coming they would have chosen them to handle the console port?

About having to rebuy the game, meh. Even if I had to buy it again now at full price, that means I would have like $60 in it. Not bad for 3k hours invested. Paid the same for Starfield and I managed to get 8 hours out of it before I had enough of the boredom.

And I'm mostly fine with how development has gone. I do wish they would've stuck with LBD and just refined it, but oh well. But the much improved lighting, art, world gen, POIs are certainly nothing to write off as easily as you seem to be. Not sure what else you expect them to add. The roadmap lists out what they have left from most of the original KS goals that they have to add. I'm happy for the weather overhaul and am excited for their implementation of bandits, even if we've had them ourselves for a few alphas now through mods. Story is whatever to me, really. So basically, if you don't enjoy the game now, probably best to just move on as it likely won't change much.

I don’t mind PC players commenting here I do it on the PC side. I defend TFP from attacks that are missing facts from PC players as well. (Sorry for the rhyme)

Okay have no problems with saying inferior version as long as you add right now. In vanilla we are missing RWG and the 10k pregens. Well RWG is coming and we are playing with the lowest minimum hardware specs. Yeah things might end up missing due to that. It’s not from lack of trying to make it work.

Fact: TFP had nothing to do with the original console release besides coming up with the idea and passing the code along to Tell Tale/Iron Galaxy. I know this because that is what TFP said when they sold the rights. They told the PC players not to worry and that they wouldn’t have anything to do with the console edition until PC version went Gold. At that point they would help try to get console edition on par with PC. Shoot PC isn’t Gold yet and we are almost on par. Imagine if Tell Tale wouldn’t have gone under. We’d probably have a massively inferior game on last gen where development stopped I’d say around Alpha 17 if lucky. Remember we bought a finished game and development could have stopped at any time. That wouldn’t have been TFP’s fault.

Fact: TFP haven’t missed any deadlines on the console edition. So maybe we wait until that happens to grab the pitchforks. If they do I’ll be okay with waiting because I know things are going to be better this time for us. I know this because TFP is talking to us now. Heck Tell Tale didn’t even want to talk to us that’s why they hired Clare. The console version is back to being their baby again. They care they do. After all think about it PCs are on B1.14 Console is on B1.15. We are a build ahead of PC because they are jumping on and fixing console issues as soon as they can.

I don't dispute what you have written there...it is what I understood from that time as well. Because TFP were not, at all, fluent in console coding... Iron Galaxy did not want their help.

At that time TFP considered themselves to be "PC gamers making PC games for PC players". Which is why many console players believed/believe that they did SELL not licence the rights to console, for the money to keep making the PC version.

I think you are right. If TellTale had not gone under the original console version would be different. We'd know for sure what the deal actually was. Maybe it would have been stalled out around Alpha 17...maybe not. There still would have been a need to release an upgraded version for next gen. There would still be room for 7 dtd version 2. which is still coming in the future.

Sorry I disagree that TFP have suddenly gotten good at communicating to or with console players. We were not welcome to ask console questions during the three pre release Dev streams, We get attacked for commenting on their posts...IF they even allow comments. They did not do even ONE stream just for console players ahead of a re-release TO CONSOLE. So no...they are not good or even better at communicating...yet. still hoping, but, it hasn't happened.

Even telling us RWG and Crossplay would be coming sooner than we think...before the holidays..which people did think implied Thanksgiving. Xmas is end of Q4... so...not sooner than the self imposed deadline. How did that help? them or us? just a throw away line to buy time? guess there must be a few people who feel like me...otherwise...why bother?

You are right...it is not the end of Q4 yet...rwg early was only a soft promise. I am being a little preemptive...fine. There ain't much time left in this Q. but...PC don't care...they are fine with us waiting because they are not actually waiting for anything critical. Some console gamers are fine with waiting...because they would prefer good over good enough for now (a feeling I understand). I think it would be fair to say most are tired of TFP overpromising and under delivering...it leads to more of these conversations.

PC did not have to buy the game again...so cue the litany of people telling me THEY got their money's worth so stop complaining...they'd gladly pay twice for this...well @%$#ing do it...give TFP $40 bucks for Xmas...just cuz you really believe your BS...Let me know if you did.

No offence, but, TFP have put the cost of their "learning curve" on the console gamer. They made a deal with TellTale...so...yeah...they still had responsibilities to protect themselves and the gamers.

About having to rebuy the game, meh. Even if I had to buy it again now at full price, that means I would have like $60 in it. Not bad for 3k hours invested. Paid the same for Starfield and I managed to get 8 hours out of it before I had enough of the boredom.

I got a couple hundred hours out of Starfield...really disappointed with the lack of developement there too. That could have been a great game.

Give TFP $40 today. I keep hearing PC guys say they would gladly pay twice...that it is worth it...so do it...encourage your bros to do it too. Let's see if any of you do.

And I'm mostly fine with how development has gone. I do wish they would've stuck with LBD and just refined it, but oh well. You do realize that every change they have made since 2019 was to get the game back on console. They ignored you guys yelling about jars...and unwanted progression changes...their little side battles with content creators over "exploits"were just distractions...because there was no market left on PC...anyone that wanted it already had it...at a discount. So this was about getting console money. It was TFP who should have waited to re-release to console. Sorry if you disagree but, why would I not want my version to be feature complete BEFORE it launched? or at least MORE complete than we got?

Crossplay is still coming, I see the build progress so it should be soonish baring some unforseen issues.  Should be some good optimizations for all as well in 1.2.

As far as gamepass, I'm not sure what you mean.  I don't see the game on it?

Never said they were good at communicating, people will definitely agree with you about that, just said they are communicating with us now which is definitely better than no communication.  DEVs have been answering questions they can and responding to issues we’ve brought up. If you don’t see that well I think nothing any one says is going to change your mind.

Why would you think sooner than expected was a throw away line rather than them hoping to get it here sooner than expected? They didn’t need to say anything to buy time as they were still playing with already bought time. As long as RWG comes before the end of Q4 that is sooner than expected. Maybe they had planned to have it out a little bit ago but things happen it’s called life.

Don’t worry about what PC players think about us waiting for RWG. Also can we really be tired with them overpromising and underdelivering? They haven’t done that to us on console yet. Look I’ll be upset if RWG doesn’t get to us before the end of the year. It’s the only thing missing I want. All the other planned stuff don’t need it. I just don’t want underdilevered RWG. Worse case I got Chernobylite in my library I’ve been itchin to play while I wait.

Crossplay is still coming, I see the build progress so it should be soonish baring some unforseen issues.  Should be some good optimizations for all as well in 1.2.

As far as gamepass, I'm not sure what you mean.  I don't see the game on it?

Not to be rude, but, we know crossplay is coming...so is the second coming of Christ. at least the church has the sense to NOT lay out a deadline for that happening.

TFP have been saying since before launch that THEY were ready for crossplay and it's MS and Sony that are holding it back...so...they kinda better be ready and able after talking all that noise.

I think it would be fair to say "we" are more concerned with RWG...at least in this thread. The lack of maps is getting to be a problem.

When you say you "see the build progress" do you mean from the outside like the rest of us, or are you privy to things we are not?

Yes, they added a lot of POI's over the years...that's just pre built asset management to me...not coding. It's the coding for weather/temperature, bandits, and story lines that have not advanced in years.

I just saw it announced yesterday for the new xbox gamepass ultlimate beta...one of 50 games it will have on launch.
