PC V3.1.0 Henpocalypse Experimental Update!

The Magnitude system, or what I prefer to call the Boosted Stats system, doesn't have anything in the works currently.

Is there an actual issue with the system, or is this a personal preference issue?

Since no weapon values seem to have been changed the magnitude system seems to about double the effectiveness of weapons. If this is done to balance with bandits (or blue/orange glowing zombies), then that could be ok. But now, with bandits (of unknown difficulty) still missing, it seems like the game was made a lot easier at the same difficulty setting

Collecting feathers and eggs is like a Day 1-2 activity. You can't walk 20 feet without seeing 3 birds nests and after a day of collecting their contents, I have enough eggs and feathers to last me until I start making better food and better arrows. I can't imagine why I'd ever need a chicken coop when I could spend 10 minutes just looting birds nests and have 500 feathers and 100 eggs.

Seeing magnitude discussion in this thread, and I figured I should put my 2 dukes in:

I do think the best course of action for the magnitude system would simply be to add sliders for the frequency of said starred items, the strength of the attributes, and maybe an extra one to prevent combining of starred items in the workbench.

I, personally, haven't had many issues with the system at the moment. While items can have several starred stats, they also have a particularly good chance to not be strong ones or stats you don't simply care about either. I'm still frequently finding better vultures/sniper rifles/steel clubs/motor tools to fuse into my main items on my playthrough, and I'm on day 74. In a prior 2.0 playthrough, my item Progression would be done on day ~30 Tops (and if you used the intellect masteries/abused magazine machanics, you could realistically do that before day 14).

I don't think there's any serious troubles with how it works now from personal experience, but I do think having the options to tweak the system to players liking would be good to have, as it's clear it's quite devicive and I can totally understand how this impacts their experience. The whole update's theme was dedicated to allowing players how they want to play, after all!!

Is it just my game, or you can't actually see the chickens moving around in the coop, only hear them?
Also, the chicken-carrying minigame is funny, but it doesn't really make sense. I like the added stress, but being able to drop the chicken just to reset it and save time instead of simply standing there feels silly.
Why not do it the way people do it in real life and just let us craft a transport cage?

To put it bluntly, it is EXTREMELY over powered.
Being able to get a +100% boosted entity/block damage and -50% stamina cost is outright broken.

But I also want to point out, the new system is completely useless for the claw hammer and nailgun, since the 2 most important stats of these items, repair amount and repair speed, aren't included within the system.

It's almost as if player like to have options for certain activities. Hopefully they continue to add or adjust recipes that will require eggs and perhaps feathers. For me, sure I could spend 10 minutes hunting for feathers or eggs. However my time is valuable and limited, and if I can have a workstation do that task for me with little interaction on my part, I'm all for it. I can spend that 10 minutes doing something more enjoyable.

You're also are ignoring the fact that with the sandbox options now, looting nests could be something that is drastically less lucrative than what was in vanilla/standard settings. Just because you play a certain way doesn't mean others play the same way.

 why is this version 3.1.0 but not 3.0.2 ...
what is the logic behind generating the version number? Why is it so difficult?
what drastic changes have occurred to use the major numbers?
As others have said, the middle number is for updates that include new (minor) features, such as the chicken coop. The last number is only for bug fixes and balancing changes and similar. Three levels for version numbers is pretty common and it's common to use them in this way for apps or games that use the 3 level system for version numbers. That doesn't mean this game should be 3.x already, but that's a different discussion.

I feel like those bird nests should be less common, It makes no sense to me that they are all over the place

I dont know if I love the chicken collection system.... I wish there was a better way to transport them over distances rather than having to wait for them to spawn relatively close to where your coop is. Maybe you could calm them enough that you could run without agitating them so much, or even get on a vehicle. Maybe you could craft cages to put them in. Just something to make transporting them a little more viable.

Yeah, that whole minigame doesn't sound at all good.

Have you ever seen wolves and/or coyotes chase down a chicken in 7DTD ?
Yes I have, but only in mine. I like the interactivity and chaos. Also at night
it's a better you than me sort of thing, If I stay home and craft something.

The constant sound of carnage outside, is a bit cathartic since I have not
imported my own music yet.

I have already started figuring how to make it a recurring defensive event.
I might tone down or change the chicken attack idea. Potentially Too many
additional resources.
