A New Chapter for The Fun Pimps and 7 Days to Die

I bought a game called "Memories of Mars". Was a pretty cool game until about a year or 2 ago they decided to abandon the online servers and now the game is vaporware. It's literally sitting in my gaming library and I can't play it at all.

Compare that to the physical copies I still possess of the original Deus Ex and System Shock 2, both I can still drop in a cd drive and play to this day. We are indeed living in different times now.
considering i still have a virtual copy of my original diablo from when i was 14 i am going to have to agree here

I hope this post is sarcasm.
Absolutely not.
I was interested in the game for a long time for the building aspect but never saw the PS4 version graphicly enjoying enough. The PS5 version looked it was getting there so I just stepped in, expected an early acces game that just needed a few more tweaks but would be fun with friends as it was. Not a game that gets such large overhauls wich is forcing you to start over again and again.
And in all fairness, I don't get excited over bandits or NPC's. Neither about a story getting shoehorned in after the game is complete. Good stories can be the base of good games but this is developed kind of backwards.

So no, I'm not looking forward to a stream of patches focused more on adding missing content than on optimising.

Yet another reason I choose to play on PC. If I don't want to start a new save I can just keep playing whatever version I want. Still odd to be legitimately upset over more free content and fixes, even if they do require new games. Just play around them, know when to expect a restart. And also, just seems like you didn't properly research the game before buying to know the plan. But sure, blame the devs for your uninformed purchase.

I can’t really imagine not starting over with a bigger update where’s the fun in playing on an old save when most of the new content might just pass you by? Reaching the late game, or even the point where the game starts to feel repetitive, doesn’t take that long anyway. And every few months, you probably shouldn’t have a problem starting over again.

I paid a whole €5 for this game back in 2014, where is my promised content
some of us have paid for two console versions...I'd really like to have a complete game sooner than later. The relaunch was taken, by many, to mean TFP finally had their ■■■■ together...that they were in the final stretch.
well...just prior to announcing they had SOLD THE COMPANY, these guys were saying they had a plan that would see this take another 22 months...which is longer than the time that has already passed since the relaunch.

PS : It's also funny to me that the PC gamers who bought this game for next to nothing...who think that they have been getting tonnes of "free" content updates for years...don't seem to realize that the less they paid...the less $ TFP had to work with. The discounted prices were not a sign of how good they were doing.

I used to really love the early game...eventually, restarts became the thing I did when there was nothing to look forward to from the mid to late game...still waiting for that to hopefully change. I've gotten all I can out of the first two weeks in game.

Unless they’re lying about it!!! 😉

Yeah... Something realy annoying AF!
I was sold a 1.x version that was early acces, I never opted for a live service game with an endless stream of updates.
You were sold an "early access" game with the expectation that there would be an unspecified number of updates up until the finished product when the story was added (plus any fixes that follow that version). Considering we are still within that range of updates, I'm not sure what you're complaining about. It certainly isn't a live service game just because they are still developing it.

I've got more than my moneys worth from 7D2D, so I won't complain.

But IMO the user generated content for 7D2D is a big part of what makes 7D2D exceptional, so I would be disappointed if a change in 7D2D business model restricted or discouraged those creators.

What you could do is stop playing until the game is fully released. This way, you won't have to start a new game over and over again.
Problem solved!
Wich is what I actualy did, but who told you that the current state is a problem?

Bringing me to an other observation here: Instead of realy reading what someone is writing here most are more obsessed with telling people they have a problem and they are wrong. Is it so hard to just accept people have different opinions and expectations?
I jumped on board this (according to the Steam charts sinking) ship when it seemed to be in an acceptable state, accepting the game was early acces. I did have my moneys worth experience but the direction it is going and the vocal toxic part of the community, combined with the poor comunication and the silent take-over made me just not optimistic about the future.
My research to the past of the game is not relevant since no one ever mentioned the whole process of "V1" seemed just to improve TFP's worth for a take-over.
By the time is fully released, with a cringy story and NPC's it might not be worth looking at. And lets be honest: The timeframe of the development from first launch to now indicates most of us are in a nursinghome by the time we are at the end of the roadmap.
... It certainly isn't a live service game just because they are still developing it.
Very true and I never said it is a live service game at this moment. I just realy hope they are not going that direction inspite of BI and if they do I hope they do it in a decent way.
Please don't FORCE us to start over every update, there are ways to port over the major parts of older saves to never versions.

First: Were you informed about the take-over? No one was.
My poor research told me the only real research was joining in, so I did. I'm not blaming devs for my purchase or anything else so please put those words in my mouth. I just stated that I'm not looking forward to stay on board, IF they choose to change the game towards the live service model.

so...is the problem (in your estimation) that they just don't have enough faatals to go around? From my point of view, the guy in charge of getting Bandits done, has been working on everything else for years. Bandits are not in the game because they have not been consistently worked on...they seem to have been treated by TFP as not a priority.

then there is also the conversation that many of you think "bandits will suck" and won't really be great for gameplay...then why have we been waiting 10 years? why did TFP make them a major update on the roadmap? Y'all keep saying trust the process....but...you don't. there's some cognitive dissonance at work here.

Bandits were a promise in kickstarter (and I assume you know that), so TFP needs to make a serious effort in adding them. For people like me who don't put much importance into the bandits feature that means we just accept this as a necessary step in completing the game. And we can still hope that together with the story it actually is a positive feature for the game.

What cognitive dissonance do you see there? Your mistake may be to lump lots of people together into one bin and assuming they all have the same opinions.

The other way of looking at this is accepting they failed to meet the kickstarter goals in reasonable time. Also note that this whole kickstarter and roadmap was nowhere mentioned in specific console storefronts, the kickstarter was also something from the time when TFP specificly stated being a PC developer. Now they choose to target that market so they should either go all they way with crossplay (yes, some publisher are allowed mods on consoles) or just serve every platform for what it is without crossplay.

They could do that and bring up another ■■■■storm because lots of players ARE waiting for bandits. AND throw away months of development effort they already put into bandits. AND maybe even push some people into making a lawsuit because they not only promised this with kickstarter but with a roadmap as well when they published the console version. I believe there are better options for them than this

The by far easiest option they had for a while now would be to just publish bandits in the current state, add them to some POIs, add a quest to clear those POIs specifically and call bandits and story fullfilled.
It seems they don't like that option and try to make bandits into the complete feature they wanted all along, no matter that that takes more time. And seriously, while I don't expect much from the bandits feature, this is the option I like most.

Also note that this whole kickstarter and roadmap was nowhere mentioned in specific console storefronts, the kickstarter was also something from the time when TFP specificly stated being a PC developer.

Yes, but we can still assume that many console players HAVE seen that roadmap. Add word of mouth and I would assume there is a large junk of console players who expect bandits. And if there is a ■■■■storm, that publicity will make even more aware of it.

Now they choose to target that market so they should either go all they way with crossplay (yes, some publisher are allowed mods on consoles) or just serve every platform for what it is without crossplay.

I don't know BIs plans for the future but I would assume crossplay is here to stay. Whether with or without mods on console, who knows? One variant of "service game" might be that they publish officially sanctioned mods in a store like bethesda tried years ago (that would be one possibility to get a selection of mods approved for consoles). But those wild speculations have nothing to do with bandits.

With all the new options the importance of modding a server with crossplay will also diminish somewhat. For example if you want a server with sandbox written in large letters? If you are not too particular about it there will be an option for it.
