I've seen a number of games where the players turned on the PvP features so they have to be careful not to shoot each other. I've played that way and seen some fratricide. But I suspect you mean playing where they actively try to kill other players...

I recall watching Daphne and Genosis start a series where they were to attack each other. I think it went something like three kills before they stopped and changed to some other theme. I haven't really watched any 7D2D YouTube/Twitch content in a year, so I've no idea what those folks are up to now.

I recall seeing a couple of YouTube videos that I think were made to promote a PvP server. I didn't really find it entertaining. If anything they were more humorous than anything. I remember one player bunny hopping all over the place I gather to be harder to hit. I recall another one regularly issuing some kind of server command that would indirectly tell them if there was another player nearby. That is, it was some kind of server action that was only allowed if there were no other players around; maybe a teleport.

I don't really agree with that definition of microtransactions. When people are talking about microtransactions, they aren't normally talking about standard DLCs or other out-of-game purchases. They are instead talking about in-game purchases like buying a currency with real money or buying boosts or whatever with real money, which generally moves the game into pay to win.

If TFP is pushing this idea of the game already having microtransactions, that is very bad news. That's them trying to make people think that they aren't a big deal since an out-of-game DLC isn't a big deal so that when they add actual microtransactions, maybe people won't hate them so much. I doubt such a twisting of words will help them if they go that route. People aren't that gullible... usually.

Bro you're so bored with the PVE content offered you're building up random useless POIs and forced to play with mods to keep yourself and your viewers entertained. When I was looking at other content creators videos I stumbled upon one dude that appears to be using a shovel as his only weapon to create some form of challenge to the game. Another large creator said the game became incredibly stale and has since switched back to Minecraft. ■■■■ing Minecraft mate.

PVP has the potential to add countless hours of unpredictable content to the game. Currently reaching end game in 7DTD is effortless and once you've reached end game content there is virtually no challenge left. You can set the difficulty to insane and start a T6 POI on horde night utilizing only what you pick up in the POI for weapons and never feel as if you're in danger of dying. There is no challenge except for that first 24 hours of you spawning in.

PVE is over once you learn the game mechanics, optimize your base, and beat the environmental challenges. The experience starts to plateau quickly. PVP removes that ceiling as each encounter is wicked different. Instead of predictable Z's every encounter is a player with different goals, skill levels, and strategies. That unpredictability means no two sessions feel the same. Every player base is unique and it's unlikely you'll encounter the same POI twice. That being said, the same generic tower design seems prominent on PVP servers in 7DTD. I personally don't PVP in 7DTD as it's blatantly obvious the game doesn't inherently support it, but this game has tremendous potential as a hybrid PVE/PVP game.

I have seen microtransactions used in multiple and confusing ways. I do not consider $10+ micro. $1 is micro, but I am cheap. All the guessing going on does not help as many things are unknown at this point.

Even 70 developers is not all that much, if you consider "developers" to include Unity artists, static content (e.g. icon/texture/skin) artists, riggers, animators, and so forth.

I personally work on a team of about twenty developers who do nothing but write code, and that's still not enough most of the time. (And we're just one team in the company I work at.)

Yes, but unless information is shared, all that is available to players is to guess. If certain things are said or things are said in a certain way, it leads people to make assumptions about the likelihood of things happening in the future. If those assumptions are wrong and are making people unhappy about what's going on, it would be helpful to provide at least some kind of comment that these assumptions are wrong so people don't get hung up on them. If nothing is said to contradict those assumptions, people will continue to believe they are correct in those assumptions. And if that leads people to turn away from the game, that isn't a good thing.

I know things are going to be in a state of flux for a while after the acquisition and I know TFP isn't always forthcoming with information, but even just a simple comment that there are no plans from TFP or BI to put actual microtransactions into the game (in-game purchases with real money), that would really help. It doesn't even need any specific details. I am fairly certain that TFP and BI have discussed that topic and made at least a preliminary decision... never add them or probably add them or definitely add them. Maybe you can't comment on it, and if it's anything other than "never", it won't improve anything if you did comment, but it's out there now and people are going to make guesses and assumptions and speculate on what's to come. Right now, those speculations are unfavorable for some (maybe a lot) of people, including myself.

I played PvP during the first few years of this game and it definitely plateaued for me and I found playing cooperatively with family immensely more rewarding. Sure, you CAN have interesting shoot outs vs other players and sometimes you come out on top and sometimes they do but more often than not all the "PvP" action takes place while your opponent is offline. So many times I repelled assaults on my base where the raiders could not overcome my defenses while I actively protected my base. They would give up and go away.....until I inevitably logged off and then they would infiltrate while I was sleeping at night or working during the day. It got old eventually.

Around A18 I tried it again briefly and it was awful. My previous time was before there were perks, or weapon tiers, or armor bonuses. Basically it used to be that everyone was on a pretty level playing field. Even if you just newly spawned in, you could craft a crossbow that with a headshot could take out a player that had been playing for weeks. But after all the progression stuff was added it made being a newly spawned character too much of a disadvantage. Long time players of the server were too powerful and only too eager to snuff out easy weak newbies.

For those who love it, more power to them.
