They could make the debris disappear automatically after a period of time, similar to corpses. Then you wouldn't need to clean up if you didn't want to. Or they could just not have debris. I do like the idea of flying/rolling debris even if it doesn't remain after it hits something, though. What I wouldn't really like is having to continually repair my bases, so maybe it shouldn't harm anything other than the player, or perhaps the vehicle if the player is in the vehicle.I would very much not like this. After a dozen storms there will be a lot of debris that will interfere with movement.
YeaI was thinking something similar, Since it would mostly be for visual enhancement
Why not use expanded distance multiple screen overlays, and shadergraph, to create
an artificial 3d parallax view of the debris. With collision detection, and preset gibs,
like when whacking a body, or getting some wood from a log. I would love to see
tumbleweed again in the desert.
What I wouldn't really like is having to continually repair my bases, .....
Conan Exiles' sandstorm is similarly implemented. It looks beautiful. But as far as I understand, the game engine won't allow for that here.Would love to see the storms building up in the distance then proceed to approach you, overtaking you as you try to out run it on your bike.
I think most players would hate that. There are already numerous posts off and on about how the game should let you repair your entire base with one click. Those players, and likely many others, wouldn't want to have to continually repair their bases, one block at a time. And the result would be the opposite of what TFP seems to be trying to do... more players would build in the forest and never bother with the other biomes since the forest doesn't have storms and you wouldn't have to keep repairing your base.I would like to have storm causing damage to player buildings also. If they hurt player, it should also damage structures and vehicles.
Certain radius where player is, blocks for damage should be identified and damage applied to time over time of the storm.
The problem is not just with click-and-repair. Let's say I'm away for a week and can't log into the game. I come back, log in, and see ruins where my base was. It's not very pleasant. Now, if they made it so you could repair everything with one click, then there wouldn't likely be as many complaints and I could agree with storms causing base damage. But otherwise, I think it's probably not a good idea.
Expectations and assumptions of players go widely different directions. And you cant make them all happy.I think most players would hate that. An obvious issue, any new block you place would have storm damage. If not, we're back to block-level tracking.over time allow the storms to apply grime overlay to textures.
Issue, or feature? Everything is so neat and clean. Days in it might actually startAn obvious issue, any new block you place would have storm damage. If not, we're back to block-level tracking.
About as bad as eating the jars. So, bothIssue, or feature?
All it takes is one extra step: painting. The paint still has the reinforced concrete texture. I painted my Horde base this way; the reinforced concrete texture makes damage more visible.I'm still annoyed we went from the nice pristine look of Reinforced Concrete to the current concrete texture.
The administrator can only fix what the game allows them to fix. If the damage system can't be disabled, the administrator won't be able to do anything.I think that would be on a server only, correct? I would think the admin would be able to "fix" that.
I've got ~2k hours in this game, and I don't think I've ever painted anything. I usually get bored before I'm 100% done building my base (I tend to make large, overly elaborate bases) so I never get to the point of painting. I'll have to look into that, thanks. All it takes is one extra step: painting. The paint still has the reinforced concrete texture.
