V2.5 Survival Revival Dev Diary

Every time you ask it gets pushed back further

On Dec 30th, Madmole said that "they are working on Bandits and will start previewing some stuff "real soon"(tm), that they'd announce an updated roadmap too, and they were thinking about putting this kind of thing in the "news launcher" so everyone can see this stuff without having to go on Social Media.

your knee jerk snark was not necessary...this isn't me pushing for some update THEY never offered. This is just me following up on what was said.

WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG, 2.5 FOR A PROPER UPDATE. I'm also hyped for the return of immersion, even if I think it's not developed enough.
Super curious to see the new hands-on learning system mixed with the book.
I hope for a lot of work on map generation and the map overall.
I loved the 600 weapons for crafting and the idea of sometimes finding a good weapon or weapon parts.
The trader doesn't attract me, this big cheapskate, in terms of weapons, and the missions are not very interesting, evolving, it looks like low-end GTA..... I'm 20 years old.
I at least hoped to sometimes come across good loot, but apparently not.
I don't like the reward system. I miss the time before alpha 16. GTA 6 soon, we'll be able to do real missions in a real RPG.
Instead of having a poorly designed survival game with lots of mechanics that end up being a big mess of anything.

Every time you ask it gets pushed back further
I remember years ago we had a joke about asking for updates... it was something like this:
"Every time someone asks when it's ready, a cute little kitten dies". :ROFLMAO:

It was intended to discourage players to keep asking the same question over and over... I don't think it worked. I've calculated that several thousands kittens have died since then.

Your expectations are too high, you'll be disappointed.
2.6 is not 3.0, hold your horses cowboy.

so when are we going to see this updated roadmap?
Hopefully so

BTW - whoever designed the POI called "Duck Station" deserves a raise.

Is that new for the experimental version of 2.5? I haven't seen it before.
Agreed

Holy hell I had to take a break from xml I still haven't gotten it down that stuff its confusing. Props to the pimps that do it more so and any other devs really

I like a lot of these newer POI's like the UFO Museum and the Fallout Shelter like place...I always forget the name of...

I wish we would get a mix though...of the old none dungeon POI's like the game used to have AND the newer ones. Maybe include them in the random mix but not ever be a mission objective. Even some "Don't open Dead Inside" type places where there is a basement, hospital ward etc. that was sealed off full of zombies...give players warning with signs etc, but let us be stupid and open them up as well! From all tier levels, like a level 1 dont open being a small farm or house that sealed off their zombie family members....up to top tier being a large Hospital with the full on Walking Dead chained off ward FULL of zombies...

Found a CrackABook in Gravestown and checked it out.
I saw that it had 5 skulls and knew that it wasn't a joke but I really needed some skill books. So I desided to take a CRACK at it.😁
I rode around it and found a ladder to what looked like the third floor. It still took me a moment to find an open window. As it was not lined up with the ladder. I ended up falling to the ledge below and the blocks I had setup. Had to climb back up and replace part of the frame of the building, which really helped me out latter. 😗
I crept in, I looked up and saw several zombies standing on the skylights. So I moved slowly. But that didn't matter as they woke up anyway.

I wish that I watched the weather channel. As I didn't know that it would be raining zombies. Because, thats what it was like. Needless to say, I didn't hang around. As I forgot my umbrella. 😁
I get out on the ledge barely ahead of the rushing zed heads. Carful not to take the express elevator. I turn right and grab the block that I replaced that last section of ledge with. Then head down the ladder and into the street.
Oh boy! What a sight it was. Some of the zed heads were poring out of the window like a waterfall. After I shot one that was just standing there stuck. Most of them taking the express elevator to the ground. While others that managed to get onto the ledge still fell while trying to get to the latter. Remember that missing block? Yeah! :p
The whole thing was hilarious and I burst out laughing. That's when I made my first mistake. I forgot to reload. So I had only a few bullets in the clip when the fast ones got up to chase me and took some damage.
I took a bit of damage but was ok. I cleared the street and headed back in.
I am thinking that things would be a little better as I took the middle stairway up. But Nooooo, It started raining again.😃 😂
So I am running down the stairway, shooting as I go. Zeds are falling and coming back up the stairs at me as I am being chased. So I have to shoot my way through. Took some damage here to.
I get back to the third floor but more zeds here to.
Making a split second discission, I found another stairwell that looked like a fire escape. So I take it down. Thats when I made my second mistake. I jump and noticed one slightly inconvenient thing. No stairs. you would think that there would be stairs in a stairwells but no. 🤪
So I am falling and I am remembering that I am up three story's and going to break my leg for sure.
But by some miracle, I didn't. i guess it was the way that I landed or something. Maybe it was the way I hit the sides as I fell that broke my fall.
So for a half second. I am happy. But then I am in a large room full of sleepers that were now waking up. Yeah...
So now I am dealing with the sleepers on the ground floor. Plus all of the ones from the upper floors chasing me or rather falling down here.
For a moment I am thinking that I just might have bitten off more than I can chew.
I ran and looked for an exit. I found said exit but it had several rows of iron spikes between me and the doors.
Then I burst out laughing as I thought about the situation that I was in.
I ran and shot. Never staying in one place for long.
I had my hands full. Dealing with Cop zombies, Farls, some of those jumber's and even at least one of those green things that are like farils but tougher.
I laughed some more and was telling them to bring it and other comments like. Oh you wants some of this to?! Here!
I was like being a cashier at Walmart or McDonalds as how busy I was.
At one point, some zombies were trying to come in though the exit. I shot at them at first but then thought, why? I left them alone while they cleared the spikes and I took out the ones on the inside.
I managed to survive and clear the room.
I was hurt, infected and other problems. But the worst part was that I was almost out of ammo. That last part is what killed me, figurately speaking. As I had to leave and get more ammo if I wanted to finish. The Zeds that were tying to come in were nice enough to clear most of the spikes but still had to clear a few. then I left.

That would be useful. This is one of the reasons why I play without traders. The inventory is small, and if you collect everything to sell to a trader, it fills up very quickly. Then you either have to constantly dump everything into a chest or manage your backpack and give up cheaper or less necessary items.

Went raiding on a house in a winter biome today.
the house had two red sculls, but it turned out to be harder than I thought.
This house was a maze, I ended up accidently pulling several groups of zeds, what chased me. I got turned around and found myself in a tiny half bath and sitting on the thrown. 😁
They destroyed that flimsy door and rushed me. They were very tough, several ferals, a few greens and even a blue.
How dare they attack me in my thrown room. So I took them out. But not sooner did I step off the toilet (the thrown) then I heard a sound from behind. Suddenly, the wall behind the toilet gave way and two more zombies attacked though there. Another blue and feral.
Then the storm hit. 😂
So I took my time and looted everything. Even busted the lock on the strongbox, rather than pick the lock.
Oddly enough the storm ended a moment after I was planning to walk out.
I did another house and was very glad to have added those expanders to my mini bike.
